RE: Folding up a damp PUP

When we use to have a PUP we made sure we opened it back up and let dry as soon as we got home. If you don't you will have problems, like mildew!

RE: How do You carry a kayak?

Must have alot higher bridges where you go because here in Ohio there is no way you could carry on top of the 5th wheel unless you have a very low 5th wheel.

RE: Run a seperate 20A circuit?

I added another outlet to the wall then ran a heavy cord with a male plug on the other end down through the floor and stores in the under belly then just pull out and plug into the 20 amp breaker at the power pedistal.

RE: Lug nut torgue

Thank you all, I guess it will go with 110 and either I will be 10 under or 10 over and just keep checking at every stop on the way south this week.

RE: Droping your 5th wheeler

I have heard there is another downside of the Bedsaver. Added steps to hitching. Supposedly you have to lift the trailer high enough to clear the Bedsaver to hitch. Get in the truck to back up until the pin gets over the Bedsaver. Get out of the truck again to then lower the pin to the right height to hitch up. Then get back in the truck so you can back in to the hitch. Reverse to process to unhitch. Lots of in and out of the truck. Maybe some hitches do not require all this. But this is the biggest complaint I have heard from some users.
And even though you have a Bedsaver, you should still perform a pull test to make sure you are properly hitched.
The bed saver is a few inches lower than the hitch so no you do not have to raise and lower to hitch up. All you have to do is raise king pin so it will clear the bed saver and king pin will go right into the hitch.

Lug nut torgue

Have tried to search and can not find what the proper wheel lug nut torgue should be. I have 8 lug, 9/16 lugs with Aluminum wheels. At one time I saw a post someone had on here with the specs but darn if I can find it now.

RE: Heartland fifth-wheels

Have had very few issues with our Heartland and the ones I did have were pretty easy fixes thanks to Matt at Heartland which were all done myself and have not had to take back to dealer. If you ever find a perfect one, let me know as I think everyone has a few problems and I'm sure some are caused by their owners and not a mfg. issue.

RE: Greasing wheel bearings

Do as the mfg of the axle recomends and pump the grease in until the new grease comes out around the zerk and let the people that like to play in grease and get their hands covered in grease do their thing. It makes them think they know more about the axles and how they work than the people that make them.

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch Selection

I use a Reese Signature series 18K slider just because I did not want any rails in the bed of the tuck when the hitch was out. The Signature series mounting hardware is under the bed and when hitch is removed you only have 4 pucks in the bed floor that rubber plug go into.

umbilical cord extension?

My situation is I have a tri fold bed cover on the bed of my truck and a receptical that is in the drivers side of the bed just behind the cab and can not reach back under the cover to plug the umbilical cord from the 5th wheel into. Have been using the plug in the bumper and was thinking if I had a short 7 pin extension cord that I could plug into the receptical behind the cab that would be just long enough to get out from under the stationary panel of the bed cover so I could easily plug the umbilical cord into. Has anyone had a similar situation and would it work, really do not want to drill another hole in the bed of the truck to relocate the receptical and would like to get the cord from dropping over the tailgate.

RE: A new Gizmo!!

I made one this summer only used a piece of channel just long enough to span both U-bolts and welded a tube to it that just fits the ram on my bottle jack fiqure if I run one wheel up on a board the jack would not be lifting enough weight to cause any damage to the axle if I needed to change a tire as the only contact is the two U-bolts.

RE: 3.73 vs 4.10 ratio

If you want 3:73s, just go up a size on the tires and the computer programed for the larger tire size so the speedometer and odometer reads correct.
