RE: problem w/ slide

Sounds like the reduction gear is broken. The best thing to do is to replace the drive motor. You may be able to crawl under and turn the rod manually but it won't be easy, at least the slide will be in.

RE: 2002 E350 - Gear Change Complications

That will really limit your top speed. I would think.

RE: Help with propane issue

Propane leaks can turn out really nasty. If you are not familiar with this gas,, I would get a gas tech to come out and have a look and get it fixed so you know it's safe JMHO

RE: ARRRGGG!!!!!!!

I always visually check that the jaws are around the king pin.During this I make sure that all the cables are connected, the hitch handle is locked, pins are in the landing gear,I also do a complete walk around looking at tires, sewer cap,and rear stabalizers are up and all lights are working. Takes 5 min but it's time worth spent.

RE: What should roof look like

My 5th has some areas as well that are not as tight as the rest. It 's a barganing item, I think a new roof is around $4000. If the rest of the unit is really good,it might be worth to give a lower offer and then replace the roof only if it really needs to be done. It will probably last for years the way it is. JMHO

RE: '04 Blazer 4.3L V6 pulling KZ Sportsmen Classic 19BH

To the OP You seem to know the limitations of your truck. Having said that, a good brake controller and WD hitch and you should be OK. Try it and see.

RE: Grand Tetons

We traveled there this Sept ,just before the campsite closed. Weather was great. Colter Bay seems to have two sections, one with hookups and a large section for dry camping. They were doing a lot of work in this section. New water lines and it even looked like they are putting in powered sites. Washrooms were a little rough. We will find out what they have done next time we are down that way.

RE: High Idle Control - May Have Found It

My 06 Ford 350 already has it. On cold days after about 30-50 sec it will kick on to high idle, around 1000rmp. Touch the brake and it comes off.

RE: Update or keep old tow vehicle? Opinions please?

If you like the truck think about keeping it. IMO It's a one ton truck with dual rear wheels and a diesel,,,, it should pull more than a 9500lbs trailer, Is it a daily driver,do you fulltime with the vehicle or dose it sit in the driveway most of the time? A new truck will cost upwards of $60,000. You lose 20% of that when you drive it off the lot. You can do a lot of repairs for that.

RE: anybody travel with a BIRD in Winter

We have a Lovebird,(small parrot) and she travels with us in Canada only. Enjoys riding in the truck and in her small cage in the 5th. If it gets cool we run the furnace. We Do Not take her into the US. Vet inspections, permits, and costs are too much of a hassel. Bird lives with my daughter while we travel south.

RE: Generators your opinion

Did a trip to Yellowstone and Tetons is Sept. The non electric parts of the campsite was full of little red Honda's. That's got to tell you something.

RE: Best tour of Utah

Spent a week in Moab this Sept. Weather was great and the trees were spectacular. Arches and Canyonlands Nat parks were great. If you have a 4x4 lots of easy roads to travel. You could easy spend a month exploring. A place we would go back to.

RE: best route to hemet from nanaimo

Don't know how far on 101 you are planning to go? We went down in Jan and did 101 to SR 20 Clear lake. You have to watch the weather on this route. Then onto I5, we stayed at a little park in Dunigan, right off I5. Then onto Bakersfield (Orange Grove is really nice. It's usually warm. Onto 58 to Kramer junction and then down I think it's I215 to 74 and then on to Hemet. I5 is a long boring drive with lots of trucks, the road was not great either, unless they have resurfaced it. We like Hemet, not as hot as Palm Springs yet close enough to everything. Have a great trip.

RE: 6 volt batteries

Sam's Club in Laughlin had 6volt GC batteries for less than $100. I think they were Energizer or something like that. Anyone used these batteries? Price seems low, I wonder is quality low as well?

RE: My new Used 5th wheel problem thread, i need Some Help!

Just to be clear,,, I'm not a RV tech,, I just hate spending $100 an hour for something I can figure out, and fix myself. I believe the ignitor is a little automatic sparker that fires for a set period of time,it may or may not have a pilot light. You would have to take the cover off the burner assembly to find out. Go on line and see if you can find out how that model of fridge works.

RE: My new Used 5th wheel problem thread, i need Some Help!

You could try to ..LIGHTLY,, tap the gas valve. There should be a gas sut off valve inside the outer access panel. Make sure that is on. Make sure you have a good 12v power source and that no wires are burn't or disconected. You may have to take it to a RV repair centre, propane is something you don't want to fool with,,explodes really fast. That can ruin your whole day. My water heater on my Travelaire also had a plastic drain plug, and the switch for electric was on the outside under some of the gas pipes.

RE: My new Used 5th wheel problem thread, i need Some Help!

The converter is more than likley behind the fuse panel. At least is is on mine, and it was on my old Travelaire TT. That was a really nice trailer.

RE: My new Used 5th wheel problem thread, i need Some Help!

The hot water tank should have a plug in the front at the bottom {anode} above that is the pressure relief valve,,,, a little handle on it. It's a pipe thread fitting and should unscrew. On the converter,,, if you have two chairs in the rear it may be between them. If not, under the pullout lounge or near the furnace. A panel should detach to access your fuse blocks. Check to make sure that the electric switch{ if you have one} on the hot water tank is turned off or you will burn out the heater element. The fridge should not have a lot of flames,,,, that would worry me. Check the stack to make sure mice have not used it for a home. The thermocouple keeps the gas valve open when it heats up. That may need to be replaced. Sounds like a few trips to the RV store.

RE: My new Used 5th wheel problem thread, i need Some Help!

All the plastic stuff can be had at your local RV store. I would replace all the vent lids and most of the plastic parts on the roof. If one is gone,, more than likely all the others are ready to go. Go to the Dicor web site,,lots of good info there. The roof looks like EDPM, don't use silcone. Spend the money and get the Dicor products. RV's are expensive to repair, most of the work is labour intensive. Try to do as much of it yourself. Good luck and happy camping
