RE: Trying to do figuring on weight capacity of F250 vrs F350.
What ever camper you choose, figure it will weigh at least 1000 lbs. heavier than dry weight, with all your stuff and people in it. If it were me and I had a choice, I would buy the truck that would do the job safely. I'm talking a truck that will take emergency situations in stride. After all, it's your family riding with you.
Probably would cost more to build up an F250, to do the job of an F350, than it would to buy the F350 that was built to do the job, in the first place. Better to have more truck than you need, especially when the kids decide to collect sea shells or rocks. Sorry to spout off, but I just don't understand "just enough to do the job". Give yourself some room for error, one day you'll need it! John
RE: Rear springs
Your truck is a picture of mine, haul a Lance 1130. I installed an air spring system, complete with compressor. Can make the truck sit like it's got nothing on it. This is the third truck I've had this set of air springs on. It's been a while since I purchased them, but I remember the initial cost was $500.00. The dealer would not give me an allowance for them,at trade in time, so I took them off the old trucks repainted the parts that needed it and reinstalled on the new truck. Know it's more than you want to spend, but if you don't mind the work, they can be moved to a new truck. Did mine in two evenings. You will need some good drill bits though.

RE: FORD 6.0 HEAD GASKETS?
Thought I had blown a head gasket, when it (6.0) started to use anti-freeze. Dealer fixed it overnight, said it was the EGR cooler leaking. Didn't know diesels had an EGR, But I'm far from knowing all. Paid the hundred dollar minimum charge (plus tax) and went on my way, happy to be on the road again.
RE: Will we still be rving??
When I started to drive, gasoline was five gallons for a buck. Minimum wage was fifty cents an hour. So, I worked two hours for five gallons of gas. Minimum wage now is about $7.50 an hour. If fuel is at $3.00/gallon, we still (at minimum wage)work two hours for five gallons of fuel. I plan to keep on truckin', as long as I'm able.
RE: Air Bags
Matt, I too have the air valves located in the fuel filler compartment,in my '06 F350. Also have compressor mounted under the pickup body, with in cab controlls and guages. Have never had to use the manual air valves, so I can't tell you how convenient they are.(just looked like a good spot) Do like the in cab controlls though. This is the third truck I've had this set of air springs on.Dealers won't give me any allowance for them,(when I trade) so I clean them up repaint them and re-install them on the new truck. Best of luck with your install.
