RE: 4 prong harness to pull a trailer behind my camper

Power lights on 2nd trailer from 1st trailer lights. No need to run wiring all the way to the TV.
If you can easily access the wiring at the tail of the 1st trailer, tap them (waterproof it) as far back as you can. 2nd choice would be to pull wiring to tongue of 1st trailer and access wiring at junction box. Each trailer will be different, so you're on your own.
This sounds like the best ways, the only other thing I would think about doing is to change the tail/brake lights out to LED,s on both trailers to minimize electoral draw on tow vehicle and first trailer's wiring.

RE: Mount Rushmore SD

I would not recommend going to Mount Rushmore area anytime in August without confirmed reservations in an RV park. the month of August is when the Sturgis Motorcyle Rally takes place and there are no RV sites available without reservations. We lived in the Dakotas for 21 years and had a membership in Hart Ranch RV Resort. Even we had to make reservations a year in advance for the month of August.
I disagree with this somewhat as the Sturgis Rally is the first full week of August. I have in the past easily found a place to stay the week before the Rally and close to the end, granted this was some 4 or 5 years ago.
Now for the week of the Rally one needs to have reservations, as most places will be filled for the first part of the week and the rates will be 2 to 3 times the regular rate.

Why not take the gas cap that is on your TH and go back to one or all of these places and see if they can match it up with a locking one.

RE: 2” hitch receiver tube inside diameter

I am looking for a 12” x 2” weld on Hitch receiver tube to make a bike rack on my 5th wheel.
I was looking at Princess auto which for you US people is like your harbor Freight store. Basically made in China junk for the most part. Anyways they have the Tube I need there but the inside diameter is 2 1/8” and with my bike rack its very sloppy in the hole, is that normal or should it be exactly 2” ID?
(should it be exactly 2")
No, my opinion is one needs some clearance in the receiver tube for the ball mount/bike rack shaft to slide in/out with little trouble. As another said there are products out there to limit this.

RE: I 20 MS and LA

It might be just me, but the last time I drove I-20 around 6 months ago to the DFW area and back, the roughest part of I-20 was Between Jackson and Vicksburg west bound, east bound was not to bad. This was solo in my tow vehicle a 3500 Dodge DRW just my take on I-20.

RE: Landing gear cross braces

As I continue to do research in advance of picking up our new 5ver, I have seen info about cross braces helping keep the 5ver stable. We will sleep in it a couple of times before I do anything but I got to thinking why wouldn't ratchet straps do the same thing?
Am I missing something?
Brian
The only thing I think you are missing is a spreader bar (2X4) between the landing gear at the base plates/feet to keep from pulling the landing gear together, other wise I think it would work find. I have been thinking about doing the same thing myself, just have not tried it yet.

RE: What is best tire size for a 2007 GMC Dually?

What size does it say it takes on the door sticker, that is where I would start. Most of the time going to a larger size on a dually can cause problems with the clearance between the duals. JMHO

RE: cash, debit or credit

I am another who uses credit card for most all purchases and pays in full at the end of the month. Don't even own or want a debit card.
I do carry an adequate amount of cash in case of a need for it.
Put me in this camp too.
As Turtle n Peeps said, one could be packing more than just cash, not saying if I do or don't.

It is one of those been there or you have'nt places
It was/is the last wooden bridge on the Alaskan Hwy not far from Dawson Creek, although it has been bypassed for quite some time now. I know it was in 1999 when I drove to Alaska, I turn back to see it and drive across.

Someone was driving we did not see. No way that MH stayed on the road that long.
I will agree with that.

RE: I80 Iowa / Nebraska & overnighting

The Cabela's in Sydney, NE has a CG with W,E and dump station far enough away from the store entrance to be quiet. For $25-$35/night, you can't beat it, and the individual lockable bathrooms with shower are the nicest I've ever been in.
Of course, the amount I spend in the store makes it a pretty expensive stop.
I have to agree, a stop at a Cabela's no matter where it is can be a expensive stop.:)

RE: E-15 Gas

We have E10 around here, and some (very few) stations which advertise "pure" gasoline (no alcohol) and charge a premium for it.
I have never seen E15, and if/when I do, I will not buy it if I can avoid it.
The same here

RE: One license plate!! (long rant!)

To solve the problem totally, all the vehicle owners in Missouri affected should just move to a smarter state where they will have both front and rear license plates. Now, what's your next problem?
Or quit going to dumb a$$ states like Mississippi.
Bipeflier,
Just because your FIL ran into a hardheaded leo in Tunica does not mean the hold state is a dumb a$$ state or any other state for that matter.
travelnutz,
not all states issure plates for the front and rear weather it be a car or pick-up.
I don't think I said anything about a dumb a$$ state or hard headed leo????
1100Sabre, my mistake did not look back to see the original OP and was thinking Bipeflier was you, sorry :o

RE: Right Direction?

AirManFL,
You might want to check the owners manual of your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee to see if it can be pulled behind the MH. I know some of the Jeep models can not be towed 4 down and I thinking the Cherokee line is one of them, this started around 3 or so years ago.

RE: yellowstone

headed to yellowstone next summer wondering about entering using northeast entrance (beartooth mts) pulling 28ft 5th wheel with F350 Diesel. Just did Alaska and down to SanFrancisco along rte 1 so not afraid of twisty turneys (or Hubby isn't) I just hang on and close my eyes when it gets to hairy) We did the Top of World in Alaska with no problems. and road from Calif 101 to coast route 1 was awesome (scary but awesome)
I have done it, but in leaving Yellowstone with a 29' 5er. If you don't have a exhaust brake on your F350 I would not do it with the trailer, but do it as a day trip.
Oh my truck is a 2007.5 3500 Dodge Quad Cab DRW 4X4 with the 6.7 Cummins and the factory exhaust brake.

RE: Holiday Camper lug bolts

A good auto parts store will probably have them.
I agree, just take another one (lug nut) with you when you go, with that nut to go by they should be able to match it up with a stud and get the matching nut for you.

RE: How to haul a trike motorcycle behind a Class A

I would get at a minium a 6X10, open or enclosed, I would go with a enclosed as it will keep your Trike out of weather and give some extra storage space too. JMHO
