RE: Used Garmin GPS
The comment about "nobody uses GPS individual units anymore" just doesn't hold up. I don't want to eat up my data on my iPhone using it as a GPS unit. Not to mention the sketchy signal in places. There are other things it will not do. Just for one example, I use my Garmin 1490T to keep track of mileage between oil changes. I also have a graph showing how efficiently I am driving after I input my vehicles specifics. I also keep a written record of the mileage. As another person said, if I'm riding along with someone else and want to look up a restaurant or something nearby I'll whip out the iPhone and look it up. Otherwise, the Garmin gets the job done and does it quite well. I would also like to know about the lifetime maps issue (expiration mainly). Garmin started offering that literally a month or two after I purchased my unit.
