RE: Yellowstone - West or South entrance?

Normal 2 lane hwy 38 mh and towed will be no problem .. Watch out for people stopping in the middle of the road to watch animals, and be in no rush to get through the park.

RE: Trip Routing: SLC to Denver

The route ,at least Spanish fork over to i70 , used to be called one of the bloodiest roads in America , but that was over 10 years ago when I ran that route weekly. It is a fairly steep mountain pass. ESP the climb out of Spanish fork. That said i did t with a tractor and doubles , so a mh should be no problem . It is very scenic and the whole route including i70 is much more interesting than 80 ! I80 is much flatter and boring ( sorry Wyoming) ;-) . If your mh can handle the climb there is much more to see and do on 70

RE: Allstays Camp and RV--Phone App

Used it all last summer .. Great ap
Don't know what you mean call without intervention ? You have to
"tell "it to call and it calls the number stored in the apps database for the park .. If its a wrong number .. You get a wrong number .. So... I'm not sure the danger in that, I've called wrong numbers before ;-)
My experience is since the ap is fairly new the data is mostly correct. DW uses it to find a spot on the fly as we decide when to stop for the day ( lets stop in the next hour or lets stay "here" if we find something interesting ) if we have "loose plans" Works like a charm.

RE: best 32-37' lcd for sound

You'll need to "in store" shop .. Look for down facing speakers or front .. Visio come to mind
Since your set against any sound bar etc you will have a very hard time being satisfied .. None of the panels in that size have " good sound" ESP if you are sensitive to inferior sound as it appears you are .. My LG 32 ( down facing speakers ) is ok but I'm not real picky .. Good luck with your search.

RE: New Carpet

When we purchased our MH I asked how much to Re- carpet and was told about $1000 no matter which rig I was looking at I think the real cost comes in the labor . there is so little carpet involved. You could ( and should) put a very high quality carpet, and it wouldn't be the largest cost involved.
In Our case the bathroom and kitchen area are tile and they'll stay that way. I /we prefer carpet elsewhere for the warmth. We are not" camping" so dirt is at a minimum , plus it's only the two adults, no kids running in and out ! We generally remove our shoes inside.
U will never get a 4 slide,40ft Class A recarpeted for 1K.
If I have to remove my shoes to go in and out of a MH Iam not going in period
Well I only know what I was told when I purchased the unit , 36 foot two slide model, they told me there was not much difference and it wouldn't be that much greater for a larger unit (. 38ft 3slide )
. We generally take our shoes off in our sticks and bricks also, but to each their own, YMMV applies ;-)

RE: How to improve tv sound?

Just make sure your TV has audio outputs .the dealer that installed my TV installed a very nice ,cheap LG that has a great picture however it has no audio output! No headphone jack, no RCA outs, no optical out. i went and purchased a sound bar And when I went to hook it up I discovered this. Looking for replacement TV I discovered many of the cheaper new models don't have audio out. At least not in the RCA out or headphone jack the sound bar requires

RE: Air tank Locations on Freightline Chasis.

The drain daily function is if your " driving " it not while its sitting , not running ! Your not introducing any new air ( and possibly the moisture ) into the system if its just sitting. Wait till the snow is gone . And your ready to move it Look then. BTW I have never noticed any moisture .. The air dryer does its job.
My Winnie dp has all the pull cords on the frame at the front pass side wheel well ( behind the wheel )

RE: First camp in new to me diesel pusher

So as long as I'm plugged into shore power, I don't need to have the engine running to operate the HWH levelers? I will go to their website and see about downloading a operators manual. As for the engine, I'm guessing I will perform the same steps as usual with my new rig as I did with the little class c.
1. Locate campsite large enough to fit my rig and accept the slide out with out hitting a tree.
2. Allow engine to idle shortly to cool off turbo
3. Shut down engine and plug up to shore power.
4. Level coach with leveling system.
5. Open slideouts.
6. Drink my favorite beverage!!
I posted this before I saw y'all's other posts...I will keep engine idling to level.
I like the test in parking lot idea!:)
My manual recommends that the engine be running to extend the jacks an operate the slide. As someone mentioned earlier, it is much easier on the hydraulic pump motor that draws a lot of current. In our rig (older but similar to yours) battery voltage will drop below 12 volts if the engine is not running while operating the slides.
We have already replace the pump motor once!
Also on start up: There should be a fast idle option available at the cruise control: push in the set button and flick the slide switch towards "resume". This will increase the engine speed a few hundred rpm, airs up faster.
If is like our Itasca Horizon, and if you have a "jack rabbit" switch on the HWH panel, push this once the air pressure is above 65 pounds. This will start air to the suspension. Otherwise air bags won't start to fill until you put it in gear!
I just went out and looked/ tried this as I was curious .. at no time does my voltage drop below 12.5 unpluged no engine running while operating the slide's, jacks .( 03 Journey 34hd ).. Perhaps your batteries are in need ??

RE: Thinking about early retirement and full-timing

I'm not sure about the cost of living increases, hadn't thought of that. As far as the increase when I turn 62 and 65 all that would go to the pension program to pay them back and put more money, if I live that long, back into the pension pot.
Right now I have good health but you never know what tomorrow brings, I figured I could use the extra now while I can enjoy it and then as I get older when medicaid kicks in I would need less, not really sure how that will all work anyway....who knows it's all just a shot in the dark anyway.
I would hope to not get to Medicaid . Medicare yes . Medicaid is the "your broke and have no money welfare portion. " my Mom got to that point and Medicaid was a real pain to deal with .. Limited drs limited care on their ( govt) terms )
Retire as soon as poss yes !!! but get some advice on planning if you are unsure how your funding in retirement will go .. Professional advice ! .. I have seen too many people who are fine until something takes their mobility unable to care for themselves in retirement .
they end up broke in a rat hole Medicaid mess ,for 10 or more years ,
from the volunteer work ive done and my moms experience i wouldn't take it lightly without a clear exit plan!

RE: First camp in new to me diesel pusher

The act of driving slowly to your camp site from the office is enough time to cool down the engine.. Unless the camp site is at the top of a mountain LOL .. Idling at the camp site was obviously a LOL post poking fun at those who do this Needlessly to the annoyance of their neighbors.
Shut off your engine, dump your air by turning on the levelers winne levels left side , right side then front or back up as needed. Then run your slides out .. If your batteries can't handle that without the engine you need new ones ! IMO.
To leave ; pull in the slides, retract the jacks ( i do this with key in on position but not started) start the engine and as soon as air is built up in the tanks and suspension drive out of the site , the engine does not need to idle Amy longer than that... Avoid hard acceleration for a few minutes,
driving to the front of the park is usually enough.
Have a awesome first outing !

RE: Thinking about early retirement and full-timing

You really need to run the numbers .. I think in most cases if you live past 72-73 you are losing money retiring at 62 and life expectancy is now higher .. There are many ways to go and a planner would be worth the few $ you'll spend if you dont have a clue . What is your family history , die early or long life ? The ss admin is happy to pay out the lower amount .. Once you file in most cases that's the amount you get for the rest of your life cola added of course .and they save money big time on average .. They need it too ! because when SS started you were only supposed to collect for 4 years or so now many are going well over 20. Many who have no other source of income find themselves broke at 85 and needing more care than they can afford . BUT
retiring ASAP is always a good idea if you can swing it go for it!

RE: Jail Breaking a I Phone 4 S ATT

You need to finish your contract with att since I assume you bought a 650.00 phone and are paying for it monthly unless you paid that much ( part of your monthly service bill) The only other major carrier that you can use is Tmobile with that GSM phone , Verizon and Sprint are cdma networks and your phone is not able to use a ATT phone.Who are you planning on switching to?
FYI Resellers use one of these 4 networks branded with their own name ie Cricket etc.
You dont need to jail break the phone .. you need to UNLOCK it. ATT must allow you to do this and will, after you have enough time on your contract or bought out your contract.
Edit
I see your last post .. Your phone will not work on Verizon .. it istnt the right radio in it .. Buy out your contract and then sell the phone You cant do this until your contract is done. (gazzele.com) and buy a verizon phone .. sorry :-(

RE: A couple of Newmar Dutch Star questions...

The vents are in the middle of the floor so when the slides are in they aren't covered and the furnace can work properly. This is standard for many coaches. and the ones I looked at when shopping were all like that. I guess I dont understand what the problem with that is ??
All the Dutch Stars I looked at had tile (or Wood) in the Kitchen I dont remember seeing any with carpet( It is just a small section in front of the cabinets though) .. is that what your seeing?
The mattress slides forward to put on the fitted linens and yes it can be a bit of a problem but we've never had a problem with any of the similar RVs we've had.the top sheets and blankets just tuck in.

RE: E15 Gasoline may corrode your gas MH or toad

E85 is not the same as regular gas E15. E 85 is for Flex fuel vehicles. Don't put E 85 in regular engines.
New cars can handle the E15 with no problem.
Good luck with that one. The closest station to me that doens't have E85 is 45 minutes away. There are only a hand full of stations that don't sell E85 so we have no choice but to use it.
I think you MAY have it backwards E15 15% ethanol is normal.... E85( 85% ethanol ) you have to really look to find a e85 pump here in the NW

RE: Railroad gate damaged TPO roof

I too would patch the roof and not call the ins company at least not now ... The time was at the incident . Not being harsh but to inform ... If the gate was damaged ( probable ) and was not malfunctioning you are at fault big time. A damaged gate at a crossing is a major Hazard and a "crime" to not report
That said ill assume you reported it or no damage ( other than to your roof ) happened. How much damage happened ? That will dictate if a new roof is needed you could probably get away with a patch ... But if you plan on selling you'll have to pay the piper then JMO

RE: Gas furnace fan won't shut off

Do you have a "Fan only" feature on your thermostat?
Yes but it's not on .And it runs the heat pump ac fan not the furnace
The furnace and hw heater are sealed
In a box behind one of the outside bay doors the dealer used 3 hours labor time to remove the hw heater to get to the back and replace the ac probe the furnace heater is no better. The hw heater was a 40 part 375.00 labor covered by the 60 day warranty ( which it's long since out of)
Now that the battery is fully charged ill try again but I doubt it'll work . The system can be on electric heat ( heat pump ) and automatically will switch to gas furnace if it gets too coldand if I try that .. Now both run ( the heat pump heats while the furnace ( gas ) just runs and runs but I can't get it to light. And batteries are 13.4 volts looks like ill have to take it in to a local repair shop ( no more dealer 125 / hr !! )
