RE: Levelor blinds

Levelor are great for support for their blinds. Call them up and ship them back to them and they will fix it. Whether it's blinds fault or yours it will be fixed correctly.

Birds and Trailer Hitch

Right now it's the time of year that birds build nest and lay eggs. Every year I have to remove the bird nest from under the FW hitch and tongue. Does anyone have any idea's to keep this from happening or putting something under there to keep them from building nest?

RE: How long does it take to install a replacement a/c?

Yes, getting to the top is the biggest challenge. I had a tractor with a lift bucket and it is myself in 60 minutes. Find a tall tree and a pulley and lift up the unit and pull the trailer under it also. Easy to replace but getting it on top is the toughest.

RE: Pulling with goose neck adapter or a 5th wheel?

Goose Neck conversation has been cover very well. It's all up to your trailer manufacturer if they say it's ok to use one or not. I know that the B&W is heavy but there are different ways to get around this and not spend more money and take the risk of ruining your trailer. The crane idea is good, pulling the pin and raising the train up is an ok idea but not something i would leave hanging around. I use a tractor and a chain to life mine out. You could also get a wench and put it in a garage (over the rafter) or a tree in the yard to lift it up and out of there. Goose Neck connections to me are for trailers with them already built on them and welded on to them, not an add on feature. Plus they are harder on your truck and rougher ride. My 2 cent.

RE: engine add on's for a gas job

You can upgrade the exhaust and air filter and maybe get 2-3 MPG but it's $600 - $1000 upgrade on a 2001 vehicle. I would just save your money and purchase a newer one with better MPG. I am in the same boat and upgrade the exhaust and got 2 MPG but it will take me 3 years to pay it off with the savings.

RE: dish holder

Find a small box to fit them and put paper towels between them or some foam. Keep it simple and low cost.

RE: B&W Patriot Hitch

I have the companion and don't have any problems with mine. This one seems like only difference is the rails. If you don't mind the rails and the price is right I would go for it. Very good product.

RE: Best 5th wheel hitch for a 2012 Ram 3500

RE: Random overnight stops

Last June we took a trip from MO to FL to Disney World. We took 3 days to get down there and 1 full day driving coming back. I like the 3 days going down and enjoying things and stopping when we needed too. I hate doing it all in one day. 20 hours plus of driving I would not recommend. Enjoy your trip as you go. I would check with the camp sites you want to stay with before you leave. Sometimes of the year it's not a big deal to drive up and park but some fill up quick and you don't want to be looking for a camping spot at 8 pm at night, unless you are Wally World camping. 500 miles is a long trip, specially with traffic but that is always best on the first day because you will already be well rested and ready to go. After that slow it down. Just my 2 cent.

RE: Can a WIFI Tower effect Satellite service

Sure it's not your microwave? Are you directly below the tower or is the tower in the way of your satellite?

RE: 5th Wheel Truck Mod

It's an actual picture that I had to crop down because I didn't have time to get my iphone to zoom in and drive at the same time. I had to do a double take on it but it's real. 100%

5th Wheel Truck Mod

Here is a Mod for your truck that has a 5th Wheel. I have never seen this before and thought it would a great idea. This was taken in Jefferson City, MO this week. Truck Mod

RE: 5th wheel hitch?

Maybe he is talking about the plate under the bed an a ball in the middle of the bed for goose neck. Kind of like I had when I got my truck and bought a B&W Companion for it and haven't looked back since.

RE: Trailer towing. Overdrive control on or off?

I usually keep it on all the time. Long straight flat grounds I might take it out depending on the speed and RPM's that I am running at (to save a little money). I found that if you engage and disengage you will have some problems. It always seems to be harder on the transmission if you go back and forth. When it is engage or not your truck is learning from your habits. I have been told from a chevy mechanic that the computer will remember your driving and adjust your truck in the future. This also will cause drops in your MPG. If you have a programmer, reset your truck to default from factory and see the difference in preformance then what it is now (if you have had the truck for a while).

Winter Battery Maintenance

Battery Charger Would this be ok to charge my batter over the winter or do I need something else? I think that someone said that you might need another piece to keep the battery from over charging or under charing?

RE: So, you bought a toy hauler...what would you do differently?

Wow, I didn't think of putting a smart car in the TH. I wonder if a Prius would fit in the TH.

RE: Overnight between N.O. and Disneyworld

Manatee Springs State Park is where we stayed at when we went through that area to Wilderness. It was quite. Had deer with in 10 feet of us when setting up our FW. We stayed one night and had no problems coming or going. That is my vote.

RE: Pass-Thru Slide Out Storage Bin

Don't you lose some space when you do this? Won't you be better off to buy some plastic bins and put them in there? It's nice to have them slide out but the first time it rains you will be sorry because everything gets wet. At least if they were in plasic tubs they could stay dry. Just my 2 cents worth.

RE: Ideas for protecting my hitch from theft

See if you can find some pull pins with locks on them. That is what I did or just wrap a big chain around it. Could use the release pin and put a lock there with a chain around the rest. Something like that. A cover of the bed is nice but sometimes not needed.
