RE: House AC?

a 2000 can run a 5k btu ac easily on eco mode. My 5k only drew about 4 amps. They had some on sale last year for 68$ and i bought 4. That little 5kbtu ac is what you want in a TC and then use a good fan to circulate air where you need it

RE: Per btgraphix request for pics of Kangroo Kitchen

jponder, I just like to try and keep the orginal boxes for things like that. It protects them when they are in storage. I know I'm anal but that is just me.:B

RE: Per btgraphix request for pics of Kangroo Kitchen

There is something not natural about having the original box for that after 30+ years. It should have been used to start a fire or been a tray for crawfish or crabs or something

RE: Question

To be honest, I don't ever recall hearing from anyone at anytime through the years that the primary reason they frequent a given board or forum was due to good moderation & good moderators. While this may be true, visit that other TC site sometime and find out how bad moderation can rapidly eliminate good members. Well I thank you Mooney, The lost the best there ever was when they lost me

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

When I was a kid, dad and 'uncle Billy', a mechanic friend of the family, used to work on cars together alot. One time they took off in the car with Billy sitting in the engine compartment operating the throttle by hand while tuning the carb and dad operating the steering wheel and brake, driving down the street with his head out the side window to see around the hood. :) My son and i did the same thing in 1999 when we got grandpas old dodge running. We had to have the hood up because the gas tank was a plastic 5 gallon jug that you needed the hood up to not pinch the line. No seats in the vehicle just small metal trash cans turned upside down. I did have throttle but brakes didnt exist. You better not take it out of first as turning the key off in first was the only way to really stop it. it had a glasspack on it and sounded awesome. My Uncle was so excited to see it move under its own power he bought me a front windshield for it. I think if people learned to drive that vehicle there would be no more accidents and they would be the best drivers

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

jponder, Is everything else stock on your truck. I was wondering about what gear ratio is best and other components that effect fuel mileage. I have a gasser and get almost 15MPG loaded and 11-12MPG loaded. I am always in the market for a diesel if I find what I want. I am trying to get more knowledge on what I need to amke the right purchase. FRITZ I just have a 4inch straight pipe as a mod. I am real tall geared with a 3.54 rear end and 35 inch tires. I get 4 mph out of every 100 rpm in high gear and my odometer reads 11% error. Try driving CT with your foot and see what it does for you

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

Guys you going to hear all kinds of BS about the idea of Constant throttle, but if you try it you will see the light. i bought an old 96 cummins duallie as a second truck and ran it from La to atlanta hard like 80 mph with just my foot. it jumps in and out of overdrive. I got like 16 mpg When I came back I installed a CT device and i got almost 26 mpg. its the idea not the implementation of the idea. its the F'ing idea. it can be implemented in many ways http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/photo/data/500/medium/level.jpg

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

jponder - Apology accepted. The situation is such, I was not sure I should laugh or cry. I do hope you think carefully when you post. Humor is tough to type, and can cause hard feelings. Please do not ask me how I know. Wayne Moderator P.S. I have a "finger" throttle on my Zuki. Do not tell anyone. I will never divulge the secrets you and BradW tell me in a open forum, Thats why i never mentioned him having a throttle cable on his jeep. I do not think it is fair for you to request i think carefully when I post. I do not think AT ALL when I post as that would take too much energy

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

I dont know. I cannot discuss this. Wayne will bust me in da head if i give this information out as it agitates him extremely. I will say that BradW does have a throttle cable on his jeep That is all the information i am authorized to give Had you sent me a PM, I would have responded in kind. However, you made a public post, so I can only assume you would want me to respond publicly. I am sure your comment was not intended to be a Troll. I know of no reason you cannot post your beliefs on hand throttles. I have no reason to believe you are not authorized to provide what you consider to be information. My concerns are two fold. As a Moderator, my interest is how you present your post, and to insure you follow the Forum rules and policies. As a RV.NET member, I too can post my experiences and beliefs on this and other subjects. They may or may not agree with your position. Wayne Moderator Wayne i was joking man. I thought you would chuckle and take it as that.......sorry

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

So what you are saying is that the cable will let you set the RPM you want to drive at. Correct?? Then when I set my CC at 1800 what is the difference? Dont flame I want to learn! WRONG, RPM will not be held constant or speed, terrain will decide your speed and RPM. Fuel will be held constant

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

That just aint right I need to get 23 mpg. How about you post it I will read it real fast then we delete it this way no one will see it! I never said 23, my best loaded over 600 miles was 21.3; My best empty at avg speed of 44mph was 30.2

RE: jponder what is a throttle cable?

Older carbureted engines had a mechanical throttle cable to the carburetor. Newer engines are electronically controlled, usually by a computer - hence, no throttle cable (at least in the historic sense). The current "gas pedal" actually works an electronic actuator that tells the computer what your foot is telling it. Marv doesnt matter you can still put a cable or a 2x4 to hold the throttle in one place and get the benefits
