Most of the campgrounds around Cherokee close for the season on Oct. 31.

RE: North Carolina CG???

Jordan Lake (near Apex) State Parks
They close the gates at sunset which might be a problem.
Check KOA Smithfield web site -- there might be a coupon which might help -- Smithfield is close to Selma.

RE: Brake Buddy or Ready Brute

I'm not familiar with the Ready Brute -- I have the older model Brake Buddy and have been very impressed by it. Easy to use and the customer service from Hopkins has been great. If this unit ever bites the dust, I will purchase another Brake Buddy.
It is great to find a company that backs up its product and has great customer service.

There is a recipe on the Vanilla Wafers (Nabisco) box.
It is pretty close to the one my mother used.

RE: Warning beep on leveling jacks, how long ?

I was told my service guy -- that you do not turn off the jacks.
Set brake, level with ignition on -- then I turn off the ignition and the beeping stops. When I retract the jacks -- I hit the store button when all the lights indicate the jacks are stored -- I do not turn off the jacks because they said it would send a false signal to the sensor and you get the beeping because of the hydraulics.
Hope this helps.

RE: 1997 Winnabego Adventure Darn Slides

Look under the sofa -- there should be a device for closing the slide.
At least there is in my 2000 Adventurer

RE: SKIDAWAY STATE PARK, GA

We were there in June -- pool is closed for the season (budget!)
I think we were on site 10 -- close to bathhouse -- trees close.
There is a section with 50 amp.
Really liked the park even with the heat, mosquitoes and chiggers.

RE: Camping Ideas- Pirateland?

Do you have reservations? Not sure how it is this summer but usually they stay booked.
Pirateland is great for kids -- lots to do and a great area for bike riding.
There is a lot to do at Myrtle Beach but most of the campgrounds-- MBTP, Prateland, Ocean Lakes (lots of golf carts), Lakewood all have activities for kids. I usually took my nephews to MBTP or Pirateland when they were younger.
Hope you have great weather and a good time.
Happy Trails.

RV Dealer's Ratings

Is there a site similiar to the rv park review site that you could post about a dealer whether good or bad.
I have looked at the 2010 Winnebagos -- do not like the floorplans of some units and don't know what the suggested prices are going to be.
I have found several Tours and Journeys that are either 2008 or 2009.
The trouble is the units are spread all over the country and I am not familiar with these dealers.
Have you dealt with them?
Would you deal with them again?
Easy to deal with?
I'm not concerned with service, I will have that done in NC.

Any help or suggestions would be welcomed.

RE: North Carolina RVers!

A -- 18 wheeler
B -- school bus, passenger for hire, delivery trucks
C -- personal vehicles ( I have this license with my 38' MH)
If Calif. has a reciporcal agreement with NC, you should only have to do the signs. No written test or driving test.
Hope this helped.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park or Pirateland
Too many golf carts at Ocean Lake. We have stayed there and would stay there if our other choices were full.
Happy Trails.

RE: Need some info on 09 Winnebago Adventure

If you are close to Raleigh or Rural Hall (outside Winston Salem) NC.
You may want to check out Bill Plemmons RV.
Contact Jamie at the Raleigh store. I have bought a couple units from them and they do all my service work.

RE: Need some info on 09 Winnebago Adventure

We have a 2000 38' Adventurer-- this has been a great motor home. Yes we have had some small problems but our dealer has a great service department. We drove 12000 miles round trip to Alaska without any problems.
This is my second Winnebago -- 1) Minnie Winnie 2) Adventurer.
I am now thinking of going diesel and it will be a Winnebago.
Really like the quality & service of Winnebago.
Happy Trails.

RE: They'll be fine... they'll be fine... they'll be fine...

Relax -- she will do fine. I think any spouse or partner should know how to set up and tear down an RV. There is always the possiblity that the main driver might get sick or hurt and unable to handle the duties. I can attest to this fact since I broke my wrist at Myrtle Beach and my partner & nephews had to break camp and drive the MH home.
