RE: Enclosed trailer: How to tie down car?

Best thing is to take your car to a trailer dealer and talk to them. You will be able to see how the different options (frt door, tie downs, etc) work for you and Your car. IMHO, a beaver tail style, slightly longer hitch, rail type tiedowns are good things, but you have to decide based on your preferences, car, and style. Good Luck John

RE: Trespassing on a site..

Mowermech, find your comments interesting, no where did I defend walking thru the middle of someones campsite, but in 40 years of camping I've never had that happen. I have had people walk along the edge of mine, I certainly don't get upset, as I'm apt to do it occasionally myself. Threatening peoples for walking thru a campsite is immature, childish, and typical of "tough guy internet talk". Second, I have not said I'm liberal or conservative, and don't care whether others are, we have secret ballots in this country for a reason. 3rd, I don't care how a fellow vet votes, they would always be welcome for an adult beverage, regardless of their views on ANY subject, even YOU! 4th, I did my time in Vietnam, although towards the end as I'm a bit younger then you, also did my time in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, doesn't make me better then you, doesn't make me worse.

RE: Trespassing on a site..

For those of you that are posting how you're going to physically or verbally assault someone for walking thru your site, please let me know what rv parks you're in, and a description of your vehicle, I'll be there momentarily with my attorney and several witnesses. Take the time to read your "rental contract", in the majority of cases you are NOT renting the site, you are paying for services. This is done so RV parks can kick you out without having to go thru the "eviction process". I camp to relax, not to get in a pi$$ing contest with people. Never been in a situation in an RV park that couldn't be worked out with a little quiet conversation. You are RESERVING that site for YOUR use until your check out time. Ask any CG Manager if it is okay for anyone other than yourself to use that spot and I can pretty much guarantee they will say no. If it were like you say anyone could come use your water spigot, take a rest under your awning, etc. That is ludicrous. And since more and more CG's have signs up indicating that theft has been occurring, all the more reason people woulnd't want people they don't know on their site. It is for the other person's benefit too, because if something comes up stolen, they are likely going to be the first person to come to mind. I don't want anyone thinking I am trying to mess with their stuff so I stay off of their site, even if just walking across to the other side. I would suggest, IF you are capable of it, to actually read the contract you're signing before making stupid statements. You folks making threats are pretty tough on the internet, wonder how you would react in a for real life and death situation.

RE: Just about loaded to go

It looks like I need to put a hitch in my gittee-up and move faster. I have excuses for taking so long to get ready, but should be able to get ready to go the day before Do what works for you, don't worry what others do. Sounds like this has been working for you for quite awhile, why change now?

RE: Over 40 reviews and a new one with a 1??????????????

That's why you have to take the time to read the reviews, some people downgrade because the RV Park is missing the one item THEY feel is absolutely necessary for them to have a good time. The other thing is to take a look at the reviewers other reviews, some people downgrade everybody, or, it could be the guys just a jerk. Never know, I take the reviews as a whole, over a time frame.

RE: ease of setting up motorhome vs 5th wheel

Pffffft!! Backing either once you get used to them is not an issue. I can give endless pluses and minuses for either, as can anyone who has owned both. The fact the a 5er or TT is jointed in the middle is a plus because it help mitigate your length, it also is a minus because it takes a little more practice to master. I took a job driving trucks out of H/S, took me two weeks before I could back into a blind alley on the passenger side of the truck, it's not that difficult. Buy the one the DW likes the most, and don't worry about it, within a couple of weeks you'll master either. John

RE: Northern/Southern motorhomes

Go to the MFG's site and look at what is standard and what is an option, I've never seen a MFG offer a "southern" or "northern" versions. Certain dealers may add options based on what sells in their neck of the woods, but the MFGs want everything that goes thru their assembly lines as standard as possible, saves em money. John

RE: Used Coaches and Pets

Somebody lie about the condition of an item they are selling, especially a dealer, shocking. Any description of the condition of an RV that is for sale should be taken with a grain of salt. Always thoroughly check out everything on the RV, look for stains, and smell for odors. John

RE: Secure RV Door and Other Security Issues

Don't know what kind of RV you have, so hard to say for sure, but 1. add a dead bolt or two if you don't have one 2. put a couple of L brackets on either side of your door, bolted thru the wall, then lock a steel bar into them when you leave, (ugly but I saw one done that way) 3. Get a big dog.

RE: Does this look too good to be real?

I agree with Mrwizard, in this economy, it could be someone just trying to raise some cash quickly. I would be leery, and do a VERY thorough inspection, but I would at least go check it out.

RE: Are Most RV Dealers (and some mfgs) Unresponsive???

Yes, at least in my opinion. I've been trying to get a couple of questions answered from Entegra, pretty basic questions as far as specs go, just didn't have the answer on their website. The response I got from the Western Regional Sales Manager was "Contact your closest dealer". Closest dealer is 300 miles away, I had been considering purchasing an Integra, now I think I'll just stick with Newmar.

RE: Attn all Disney World fans

For those that are of the mathematical persuasion. Given that in the 60's and 70's, you purchased individual tickets, (E ticket ride!) in comparison to income has the price risen that much? I'm way to lazy, and don't care enough to figure it all out, but percentage wise I"m not sure the price has change all that much. I'm sure someone way smarter then me will have the answer.
