RE: Toy Hauler vs. Regular Travel Trailer

I'd have to guess my ol' Ragen is built much better than most TTs with heavier frame & axles, 16" E-rated tires, and shocks. It's "stick 'n tin" construction, but after 7 years and tens of thousands of miles . . . zero issues with the coachwork. With additional amenities like built-in gen, bigger tanks, and cargo carrying capacity, there's no comparison.

RE: built in generators

Love the Onan 5500 in my Rage'n. I use the Genturi religiously and only ONE time had a problem with CO detector going off. That was the ONE time I was too anxious and removed the Genturi the night before we were leaving. It was a dead calm night and fumes drifted in somewhere, even though the trailer was closed up tight. Thankfully the CO detector woke us up about 2am and saved our lives. ALWAYS be sure that detector is working.

RE: Use a toy hauler as a TT? No toys to haul.

In addition to hauling toys, I decided on a toy hauler because of the stronger frame, generator, and bigger tanks. No travel trailer can compare.

Running fridge while trailer is covered?

I keep my toy hauler next to the house, plugged in and the fridge on. I'm going to be covering it with an ADCO cover and am wondering if I can still run the fridge on electric, even with the cover on.

Thanks What are the biker bars? I'm curious, as I sometimes carry a motorcycle, also.

RE: Love my Toy Hauler.....except one "small" thing.

My '07 Ragen has 58 gal black and 58 gal grey. My original literature said the lavatory sink drained into the black tank, but I did a simple test with a 5 gal bucket of water and discovered this was not true. It didn't take me long to figure out that the black tank was only being used to a fraction of it's capacity, so I plumbed a crossover pipe between the 2 tanks. Now when the grey tank gets full it starts running over into the black tank. Two of us can go a good 3-day weekend washing dishes and showering with no issues.

RE: Another No Start Onan

Do you guys use Stabil or something in the gas? I'm going to guess they're gummed up from sitting with the el cheapo fuel they sell us nowadays. I put in Stabil most every time I fill the gas tank but if I'm going on a trip I'll give it a good dose of Seafoam to clean it out while we're using it. Sea foam

RE: An 8 year old's letter about camping . . .

My DW doesn't seem to be in it too much any longer. I have a 34 ft 2013 with three slides and she doesn't seem to have any interest at all. She keeps telling me I'm not healthy enough just because I have A-Fib and a couple of other ailments that I manage to be living with. Feel bad for you. My DH also has A-Fib and other ailments and we can't wait to go camping. Next is a shrot trip of 10 miles to Rainbow River on the 17th. Love Rainbow River! I wish I was closer!

An 8 year old's letter about camping . . .

One of my co-workers was recently planning a weekend camping trip with her family. Following is the transcript of a letter her 8-year old daughter wrote about the upcoming trip. (I have corrected spelling on many of the words and added punctuation, as some of it was a bit challenging to decipher.) "Mom asks Ricky if we can borrow a camper. Yes or No. 3 days we are staying there. Peace River (Campground). 10 of silverware, 3 pairs of clothing. Food - roast marshmallows and make s'mores and then eat them. Take shower if they have one, put PJ's on and go to bed. Bring blankets pillows. Play in the camper, look for bones and shark teeth, read a book and then we could take a jog, swim, eat, play outside of the camper and then we could do word search, jog again and if we bring the dogs then we can take them out, sing songs, hide and seek, staring contest, gum tasting, yoga, run around. Then we could swim again, s'mores, then we can do some math and read or run in the grass and we can play tag and 'don't push my buttons' and collect shark teeth and bones, play with bugs and pick flowers. Do some more things like write in a book, read some more books, play dolls, try on rings, have a family swim, then nap or go to the bathroom, go places and eat ice cream." Classic.
