RE: 2005 Jayco Designer - Some Questions

You may want to check out this site for Jayco owners. You can send me a PM if you have any other specific questions. http://www.jaycoowners.com/forum.php

RE: 2005 Jayco Designer - Some Questions

I am actually sitting in it in a campground right now. The 35CLQS was the floor model that we really liked. We bought it a little over a year ago and use it weekends and winters in Florida. We wouldn't change a thing as we tend to sit in the kitchen area quite a bit and with all the accessories we have, we can stop anywhere and not need any hookups. It is well built as Jayco's usually are and well insulated so that camping in relatively cold weather is fine. If the floor plan is what you are looking for then I would go for it. You can see the rig on my profile. Good luck and enjoy.

RE: Pics of set up adjustment needed?

I agree that the nose looks a little high, and I would raise the pin box one hole. 6" above the bed is more than enough unless you are going off road.

RE: Planning for next year...Orlando Area

Second on Tropical Palms, but it is not cheap and I hope you like lots of traffic. It is only a few minutes from Disney so it is full of families. There are a lot out there in the area and I have checked out quite a few but will not recommend any because each of us has different expectations and needs. I do recommend that you book only for a week at a time first and take time to check out other parks personaly.

RE: Looking to buy a fiver, need recommendations

Sounds to me like there is no better time than now. You will find a used RV that fits your family and like others say, all the problems should have been fixed by now. Go now and enjoy your children: tomorrow is promised to no one.

RE: $$ of ferry@ Martha's Vineyard

I work on the Vineyard from time to time and have to take my F350DW pulling a 12' trailer with tools in it and it cost $180 each way. Fee is based on Total length of the TV and Fiver. You need to make reservations well in advance if it is between may to Sept. My guess on the Truck and Camper is about $225 each way: There are only so many spaces for tall vechicles.

RE: Migration north has begun.

Leaving Thursday morning and not liking it: but not fully retired yet and need to go back and put some people back to work. This has been a great winter to not be in New England.

RE: NY thruway roads and construction

Left Tiverton RI end of January and the route down 95 to 287 over the Tapanzee was fine. Don't worry about the roads just be glad you are going camping. Unfortunatley I will be headed back at the end of this month. Sunny and 78 today.

RE: Florida in 2 weeks

I just had a partial knee replacement so am stuck here until Docs final check up on the 25th. Will be on the road the next morning. will only get 5 weeks this year which is a disappointment but a lot better than staying here Through Feb. Enjoy the time, the roads are long and life is short.

RE: Trip up North-east Coast then West to Niagra or more

Living here in the norteast I would suggest that you avoid July and August if possible. You will find campground here to be more expensive than other areas of the country and older with less sites that accomadate big rigs. There is plenty to see and do so take your time and enjoy it no matter when you come. Oh yeh don't come after October 15th most places are closed and like me they head south in the cold:)

RE: Enclosed bathroom

We have the split bath in our 37' Jayco Designer and with just the two of us it is fine, but would be just a happy with the enclosed bath I think: especially with guest or children. We tell everyone that it is big but only has room for 2 :)

RE: What percentage of time do you use your 5th wheel?

Once a month at least during April to Oct. and then snowbird Jan to end of Mar.

RE: Front of truck 2" receiver hitch

I have had a reciever on the front of my truck for years: it is how you use a snowsport personal plow to plow my driveway. If you have fog lights on that model; you may loose them. It is handy for many things, all you need is imagination.

RE: Fiberglass repair on Keystone

You may also want to try a boat yard if one is nearby, they usually can fix it without anyone being able to see the repair.

RE: Beginner/Towing 5th wheel

the tundra is better suited for a tt than fifth wheel. I wouldn't even consider it for a fiver.

RE: Bad jackstand motor

You should have gotten a hand crank for the landing gear with the unit.If not then you should see if you can make a socket work and battery screw gun.

RE: Starting to Snowbird

Thanks for the responses. Looks like the plan will work. By checking out a number of places we should be able to find one we like if we decide to stay longer. I am just trying to avoid the worst section of winter in the Northeast.

Starting to Snowbird

This Winter will be the first winter that I take off so that I am not working outside. We have decided to try Jan. and Feb. in Florida at about 4 different places. Is this a good way to find out if we are going to be able to stand each other after 45 years of marrige or should we start with a shorter time period? I am hoping that after the two months is up: I won't want to go home because it is great, but am affraid to commit to a longer stay the first time out. Do most of you just jump right in and stay 4, 5, or 6 months?
