RE: Wheel Bearings - Dark Markings

Looked up fretting corrosion might of had a real small amount of it on my old trailer.Always coated the spindle in grease as well, guess that helped. Also smeared it in the races well.

RE: Wheel Bearings - Dark Markings

Been doing mine forever and they don't seem discolored.Wonder if it is the brand of grease? Just did mine today.Mind you trailer is only 3 yrs old.My 1989 did not discolor either. But they are a bit darker.Guess a pic would have helped. When they are bad it is fairly noticeable.

RE: Wheel Bearings - Dark Markings

I tried a bearing packer.Prefer packing by hand.I would not chance the bearings.Sounds like they got hot. When I used a bearing packer, I had doubts about the amount of grease in the bearing.Good Luck

RE: 2011 Silverado power mirrors to power extendable mirrors?

The NBS trucks require door panel removal. Fairly easy. And they did plug right in. Heated, remote, and turn signal.Sure make a difference.

RE: 2011 Silverado power mirrors to power extendable mirrors?

Changed my small heated mirrors for the large towing mirrors.Got them from GM and put them on myself. My truck is the NBS GMC 2500hd.Took a hour and half. They need your vin number.

RE: Advantages of a manual transmission

Like a manual much better on snow ice covered roads.Automatic sometimes changes gears at just the wrong time.Like the fact that it is not computer controlled. And I just plain like them better. All that said the 6sp auto in by 2500hd gmc is the best I have had so far.Gm does not over a manual trans in there new PU anyway.

RE: Suburban voltage

The alternator is controlled by the computer. The ground on my truck is troublesome. Somebody over tightened before I got it.Go easy on tightening the new style terminals. They now have torque spec.

RE: Axel and tire failure under 3000 miles

We bought our Creekside because it has 5200# axles and bigger tires with the a 7800#gvw. I think it is a way better buffer.

RE: Buying used trailer - what to watch for?

If it is a fiberglass/laminate construction look down the side to see if its decontaminating.Everything else but the fridge is not really that expensive.Fridges are about $850 and up.

RE: Coax tv cable

In our Creekside the sat would not work through the wall mounted jack for the TV it had a amp. What I did was, just take off the cover and hook to the coax coming into the trailer before it hooked into the amp, and put on a different wall plate. With ours a short piece of coax runs to the decoder works fine.Good Luck.If I had a clear run I would have put in it own direct cable.

RE: New TT Shelter

We bit the bullet about 8 yrs ago, and I built a roof off the shop for our old fifth wheel.Really made it last longer. 1989 and not rotten. When we got the new trailer it was a bit taller and we dug trenches for the tires gained just enough room.

RE: A leaking slide - on our new TT.

Mine leaked when it was brand new.100k winds and 4 inch rain overnight on westcoast of Vancouver island.Dealer fixed by putting a stick on piece of weather striping at a angle away from the trailer near the bottom of the slide.Dealers there put a triangle piece of plastic on the inside edge of slide so that water doesn't follow the bottom trim molding in.They even fixed the damaged cabinet veneer.

RE: Arctic/Polar/Cold weather packages.

We bought our Creekside because of the 4 season package.I like the heated underbelly and tank valves.Floor is warmer and the unit is just plain more comfortable.I would think it would be worth getting in any brand trailer if has heated tanks and floor, and more insulation. We use it a lot in early spring all the way into November.

RE: How many of you like live in your RV?

I work out of my RV when I stay at private campgrounds so you wouldn't see much of me.Its supper a bit of tv and off to bed after work min of 10hrs plus a day sometimes 13.If I'am at a decent fishing lake try to
get out on lake for a hour or two. When we camp we hang outside a lot more.
