RE: How much are you willing to ?

I have a 2011 F250 without the camper package. Big mistake. It has plenty of power to pull but my pin weight is too high. I can't afford to change the truck, but did put on Firestone air bags. I can now carry the load but not something I recommend. If you do have the camper package you can probably carry a 5th without air bags. My 31ksls is a little heavy for the F250

RE: Pulling A Fiver With A Extended Cab

I started running a crew cab in 2003. Since then I've had 3 others and love them. I have the Ford's short box and SRW. Had a guy pulling my traier to get repairs and took out my rear window. Then I invested in the Super glide. Love the hitch and never worry about hitting the cab. Money well spent.

RE: which tablet?

Thanks for the input. I ordered a Samsung 10.1 from Amazon. I agree any of those tablets mentioned will probably work great. Anyway I appreciate RV Net as I can get a lot of help. Hope I can return the favor someday.

which tablet?

I have a bulky Dell lap top, that works great on the desk but way to big to haul in the RV. Just gets in the way. I have a Kindle Fire and does not operate the way I need. I've had Ipad, which I liked but it won't blend with my android phone. Looking very strong at a Samsung tablet 10.1. I only want Wifi, and really will not need over 16 gigs. I look on Amazon and just get confused at the different models. Local Radio Shack has one for 599.00 with 100.00 off if you sign up with Verizon for 2 yr. contract, which would cose me another 18.00 per month counting taxes. Way more then what I want to spend. Anyway do all sugest any certain model that will fill my needs. Thanks

RE: Towing with new pickup

I went from a truck F350 just like you describe with 17 inch tires. I now have the 2011 F250 with 20 inch tires. These 2 trucks are the same height. I know because I can barely back into my garage without it touching. I did not have to adjust a thing to get bed to trailer clearance. I had a trailer at one time that was perfectly level with only about 4 inch clearance. It pulled horrible. I had to adjust my hitch to rise the 4 inch clearance. The funny thing with the raise in the front it pulled perfect. So a little nose high will not hurt a thing.

RE: Slider Hitch danger?

I agree when I had a slider, and I've had a couple. One was manual, and It was described as above. Very eratic. Bought one that moved with an electric motor. An old ant could have moved faster. Went to a non slide Reese which worked fine, until a guy working for me got in a tight spot trying to buy a coke and took out my rear window. Time I paid for that I could almost have paid for a Pullright superglide. I've now used one of them for about 6 years and it has worked flawless. Mine used slip plate and I have it tore down sanding and reapalying. Great hitch.

RE: 2004 Terry Quantum Fifth Wheel quastions

I don't want to completely discourage you from the Quantum. They are a very well designed units, just lacked quality. Like I say when we traded the 04 for the 07 we felt like we had all the problems fixed on the o4. We were just after the upgrades. If it has not been abused it should serve you well. Just my after thought.

RE: 2004 Terry Quantum Fifth Wheel quastions

We had an 04 Terry Quantum 38.5 ft. Many repairs the first 2 years then it got better. 07 we traded the 04 for an identical Quantum except it was much nicer. Only problem lots of problems expecially with the Lippert Frame, and how they mounted the axles. We traded for a 2011 Cameo and was shocked how much better it was built. My 04 had a terrible looking frame. Crawl under and make sure it does not have any breaks. Over all we enjoyed these units and really felt we had probably fixed most of the repairs on the 04. Not sure about the 07. I would not tell you not to buy it, especially if you are a handy man. We enjoyed the units, but got tired of repairs.

RE: Let's See Your Camping Flags!

I will fly my American flag where I want. This is my nation, and I love it despite all the problems. Also like to fly the Navy flag when I can. My son is a Navy Pilot.

RE: Looking for ideas on next RV to purchase

I'm pulling a 31 ft. 2011 Cameo. It has tons of room once the slides out yet shorter then most. Also has a lot of quality. If you are buying new look at Lifetime, as they are now building that uni.

RE: Wichita Kansas and tornados

We live in part of tornado alley. Im 68 and I've seen 2 just out in the fields. I remember as a kid standing and looking out kitchen window with Mom and watched one go by. Mother also had been there all her life and it did not disturb her.

RE: Broken pin box

I hope it will be fine. So sad when a dealer just doesn't care. Hopefully you get up there in good order and get everything fixed correctly.

RE: Diesel Fuel

I always add an additive, usually Standoyne. It's purpose is lubrication, raise the cetane rate, and help with any water you might have in your tank. New fuels really don't have just a lot of lubrication. Use to be sulfer provided the lubrication. Still it will run on all of these fuels, but I don't like what we are being forced to do. Ive missed with diesel since the 50s.

RE: is new camper actually new?

Buy where you get good service. Bought a 2011 cameo and it was like the owner loved me. Went in last summer for some information, and then I realized I was no longer important. Thats fine. I have a great service man in Amarillo TX. Dealer is in Colorado. I make sure all is in order before I head back to the mountains for the summer. There is a moblile guy I can always call if something breaks while up in Colorado. We are 120 miles from Amarillo so going their is just and a hope anymore. Wouldn't bother me to buy further off.

RE: Another newbie questions - step carpeting

Yep leave them on. You may need to spray them with water if you travel through a lot of water and mud, but really haven't even had much of that problem. They are a good asset as it will help keep inside clean.

RE: Help from those with Super Glide using Slip Plate

At one time they talked about a conversion kit to go to the newest unit. The last I heard they have backed off of that.I would love to convert. Little WD40 or any light oil would be so easy. Seems every year the parts just get heavier.

RE: Still New... :) Inverter generator question

I called my service man and ask if he had any used generators. My Cameo came generator ready. He was tearing down a old motor home and it had a 7000 series Onan with 400 hours. He installed it a month ago. He built it in in such away that it is insulated to control sound. Cannot hear it in bed room and its right below. Saved a lot of money and this rig works like new. It will run anything in the trailer. look aroung you might find something used thats about like new.

Help from those with Super Glide using Slip Plate

Been working on way tubes to get off the old slip plate. I've noticed several pertty good scrapes that I can not sand out. They are peobably about 1.5 inches long, and can be felt when running my finger across it. Courses this is with most of the slip plate sanded off. Wiil this be a problem. I do know when I put it together I can make sure the scrapes are not carrying much of the load. Have you ever had to replace way tubes. My personal opinion is it won't hurt, but felt like I need to double check. I'm about ready to start applying slip plate. Thanks for any help.

RE: What a bummer!!!!!

Very clear capture plate must be on pin box, and works with
sg hitch, to make it slide to the rear of the truck and not hit the cab. Mine has the welded on capture plate. I have a friend that uses the bolt on. He pulled his parents to the mountains and used the bolt on so he could pull their trailer with his Super Glide. I liked the situp. No welding!!1
