RE: Ascent truck campers ?????

Wow, that amazes me. They are such a well built and well designed camper. They do awesome in cold weather. Glad I got my 2012, I will be hanging on to it for a while....

RE: Our Camping History 1963 to 1975

I am 35 years old and never saw those days. I found this post very educational and extremely interesting. Thank you for sharing that. You provided a wonderful upbringing for your children. Can't ask for much more than that....

RE: How much truck cab clearance is required?

My 2011 F350 and Ascent camper have about one inch. I take mine on gravel roads to camp off the beaten path all the time. Never been a problem. I think there are a few factors here; the suspension on your truck, how much your camper flexes on the overhang and how well its tied down.

RE: Homemade hitch extension

Why solid rod and not chains with tensioners?

RE: OMG! **UPDATE** a Triple Slide Host Everest on a SRW! Pics

A testament to the engineering fudge factors in recommendations from manufacturers.

RE: Finally! Got the Host Everest loaded on my F150...but

Here is my Everest. Without the boat I am about 200lbs under GVWR. With the boat, I am a few lbs over GVWR. I have air bags and Stable Loads. Skyhammer - Can you elaborate on your hitch setup? Are you using the factory 2.5" receiver? If so what else? Got pics? Thanks!

RE: Hitch Extension

Problem is everything you guys linked to is for a 2" hitch. They are damn near impossible to find for a 2.5" hitch. I ended up making my own. I took some steel 4" C channel (from an old trailer frame) and cut it to about 5" long. I drilled a hole in each end and each corner of the channel. Take the channel and sandwhich the top and bottom of the receiver and extension, tighten the bolts down and it takes all the slop out and stiffens it up quite a bit. If someone finds a purpose made one for a 2.5" hitch then please post it up.
