Class A Body Work in Fort Worth, TX

Hi, we have a 2008 Georgetown 315DS RV that is still under warranty. Forest River told us to take it to North Texas RV and Repair in Krum (near Denton TX) to get an estimate. We were told that they were really high and that we would need to take it somewhere else or possible bring it to Indiana to get fixed. Does anyone know of another place that does body work on gel coat fiberglass in the Dallas Fort worth area. We thought possible a boat place might, but we have no ideas of whom to use. What needs to be fixed: We have 3 areas in the fiberglass. 1 in the back endcap, 1 in the slide, and there is a cut in the fiberglass near one of the storage capartments, we were told that it probably happened when they were cutting out the whole for the capartment. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. We really don't want to go to the expense of taking it up North.

RE: Which Auto Satellite Dish Should I Install

How do you figure the elevation on that?

RE: oil filter wont budge

Mine was super tight too on the very first 1st oil change. I think they don't put any oil on the gasket at the factory and they have a gorilla install it. I used a strap wrench and had to brace my legs against the frame or something to get the umphh to break it loose. The 2nd one was a piece of cake.

RE: Installing Satellite on a new Class A

Yea that's kind of the way I am leaning now, VuQube 3000 for the reasons you stated above. I noticed after reading the ins. instructions that the ladder mount has an adhesive on one of the brackets that attach to the Motorhome. Does it seem like that will be able to come off later or is the bracket pretty much permanently attached to the M/H?

RE: Installing Satellite on a new Class A

Thanks for the replies everybody. I may have to rethink this. I am planning on staying with Dish Network. Right now I am using the Dish 500 which has 2 LNB's. Sometimes I get a signal within a few minutes, sometimes it can be a pain in the butt. The reason I don't have HD now is because I read the Dish 1000's with the triple LNB's can be a real pain to sight in. I didn't know Dish was planning on changing anything soon, but if they do and I have a Dome I guess it will be an even bigger problem. I wanted something automatic and in-motion would be nice but I don't want to spend big $$$ then have it be obsolete in a few years. HD would be nice too but not necessary.

Installing Satellite on a new Class A

We have a new Georgetown that we bought in May of this year and were thinking of getting a King-Dome AIR In-Motion Satellite and Off-Air Antenna installed on it. Has anybody had a dome installed by Camping world? Do they do good work? I am a little apprehensive about getiing holes drilled and cut into my new roof. It is a one piece fiberglass roof and it was not pre-wired from the factory for satellite TV, or at least there is no sticker on the roof, so I am not sure how they will route the coax into the overhead cabinet that houses my Dish receiver. Currently I use a dish on a tripod and run the coax into the park cable hookup on the outside. As an alternative I am looking at a VuQube mounted on the ladder and just run the coax underneath to the park cable hookup near the rear left corner of the M/H. Easy install I could do it myself. But believe it or not this setup is actually a little more money for in-motion than the King Dome or Winegard. The good is I would be able to relocate it at shady campsites. The bad, I am worried about the Qube growing legs. The M/H is still under warranty but I am assuming any roof leaks in or near the dome would not be covered. Thoughts or opinions on which way to go would be appreciated. Oh by the way we have Dish Network, we have a non-HD receiver but since we have HD TV's in the M/H we will probably upgrade to an HD receiver later. Thanks, Kevin

RE: Help finding RV park in the Arlington, Texas area

I haven't actually stayed at treetops, just visited somebody there, since I live in this area no reason to stay, but it looks like a really nice place. Probably the best location too for a Cowboy's game. The only other RV park I know of in the area, is Traders Village further southeast in Grand Prairie.

RE: 15% ethanol blend for gasoline

Having alternative sources for potable fuels suitable for use in vehicles will be necessary to keep consumers from being gouged by the people controlling the oil in the years ahead I certainly have no problem with having an alternative, but I should also be able to have non-ethanol gas as an option too. In the future maybe all cars can be made E-85 compatible, but until then we need an E-10 or less option for older cars, boats, Motorcycles, etc... If I had an E-85 car and they sold E-85 at the pump, I would run the #'s and use it if it made economical sense. True competition

RE: 15% ethanol blend for gasoline

Being from Texas, you wouldn't happen to be working for one of the oil companies providing campaign funds to Senator Feinstein would you?? The oil companies have long understood Lenin's statement. No I don't work for, nor do I have any ties to the oil industry. Let's see you are from Minnesota, are you on ADM's payroll, or just an average corn farmer?

RE: 15% ethanol blend for gasoline

However, tail pipe emissions and smog are real issues today-----and ethanol does help reduce those forms of pollution. "A lie told often enough becomes truth" Vladimir Lenin. Here is one example of the real truth, and there are many others. http://feinstein.senate.gov/news-corn0611.html California has for years been trying to get an ethanol exemption because it actually worsens air quality. Texas tried too but no such luck the corn lobby proved too powerful.

RE: Alignment in Fort Worth

"Inland Truck is the best in Ft.Worth. If it is wearing that bad I would make sure that the selling dealer is aware of the problem as it could be more than an alignment issue. Obviously the alignment is the first place to start." I just got off the phone with Inland Truck and I was told by Mark that they do not do Alignments of RV"S, but thanks for the suggestion.

RE: 15% ethanol blend for gasoline

The only way ethanol can compete is to be forced into our gas tanks by self serving politicians, kowtowing to the corn lobby. For all you Pro ethanol supporters, what do you say if we make 100% gas available at the pump next to the E-10. You believe it's the best thing since sliced bread, I and many others believe it is bad for your car, RV, Motorcycle, etc... We can argue this till kingdom come and we can each come up with studies to support our arguments, but the bottom line is I don't have a CHOICE! and neither does most of the population. E-10 cannot compete even with subsidies and tax breaks, so then it had to be MANDATED! That is my biggest problem with it. Another question for the Pro-ethanol crowd, if ethanol is so good, why not import it from Brazil and the Caribbean at far cheaper prices. I think we both know the answer to that question! I cannot find pure gas within 100 miles of here. If anyone knows where some is please let me know. I will drive out of my way and pay extra for it. Let the market decide, let the consumers decide!

RE: Roof of TT

Here stuff will grow on a roof. As stuff grows and dies on the roof the sealant will suffer. The dead stuff facilitates sealants drying and breaking down. Anything that tries to grow on a roof around here will be burned up by the sun in no time.

RE: 15% ethanol blend for gasoline

And just exactly where do you find straight gasoline to run in your small engines? You can no longer buy it. The 10% ethanol content is being pushed by federal regulation. It's a flat loser and a political boondoggle. Your exactly right! I think the general public is clueless as to what is happening and why, and what it means to our cars, motorhomes, generators, motorcycles, boats, etc... All the politicians know is the corn lobby is stuffing $$$ into their pockets via campaign funds and they need to get reelected. Nobody cares about the $$$ you are going to have to spend to get your vehicles retrofitted. Look in any owners manual of any car except E-85 vehicles, and it will explicitly warn you not to use any ethanol blend greater than 10% ethanol or your warranty will be null and void. You and I will be footing the bill for our repairs. Not to mention paying extra for the price of the fuel, harm to the environment and so on. But we have no choice! If it was really a good thing, we should drop the 54 cent per gallon import tariff (wouldn't want any competition now would we) on imported ethanol from Brazil and other countries. There is also a 51 cent tax rebate (your tax $$ at work here) the oil Co's (refiners) get for each gallon of ethanol they blend into gasoline, even with all this it is still more expensive than gas so there has to be a federal mandate to force us to use it.

Alignment in Fort Worth

Hi, all, we just got back from a 4000 plus trip with our new 2008 Georgetown and my husband notice that the front drivers tire wore alot worse than all the rest. He says that it has lost double the tread as the others. Also, the passenger side front tire also wore, but only on the inside. So we figure that we need to have an alignment done. It's a shame because we just bought it new May 14th. Does anyone know of, or can recommend a place in the Fort Worth area that does good alignments? Thanks in Advance..

RE: Roof of TT

We used to have the same model Roo. I climbed up on it regularly (every 2 or 3 months) to clean it or reseal it. Just be careful, and don't wear shoes and you won't rip the vinyl. I'm wondering why you would need to reseal anything up on the roof every 2-3 months? We've had our camper for 3 years now and have lived in it full time that entire 3 years, I've yet had to reseal ANYTHING on the roof Maybe I should be up there checking the seals more often?? Actually, Ive only touched up the sealant in a few areas once or twice in the three years Ive owned it. I didn't actually pull off the old sealant, I just sealed over a few areas where it looked like it was cracking. But I did get up there that often to clean it (murphys oil soap) and inspect it. Kept the roof looking new. Yes you can do it from a ladder it just takes longer and more effort. I also stayed near the edges it felt kind of flimsy in the middle. I have been up on the roof of my motorhome and it feels more solid in comparison, it is a fiberglass roof, but the structure underneath feels more solid too. I weigh about 170 lbs.
