RE: Thousand Trails-Orlando Info Request

I live one mile from the Orlando Thousand Trails preserve and we store our coach there year round. The I and G sections are 50 amp and cost an additional $3.00 per day. These two sections are in the sun with no shade. There are a few 50 amp sites scattered throughout the preserve but most are now occupied by annual residents. The preserve is in a great location, close to all the attractions.

RE: need air bag help

You might try calling Alliance Coach in Wildwood, FL. They used to be the Monaco Service Center. They reopened and again picked up the Monaco warranty work here in the south. Telephone numbers are 866-888-8941 and 352-330-3800.

RE: New RV Park in Key Largo, Fl.

Too bad they cut the shade down. That stay was truely memorable ... beautiful sunsets. We took my mom and dad on a trip through the Keys and this was the second stop on the trip. Wife and mom would sit on lawn chairs in the water. We had one of the waterfront sites for 2 days. Not sure how it would be without the trees now, but I would stay there for at least one night even with the price just for the sunset.

RE: New RV Park in Key Largo, Fl.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but this looks like the old America Outdoors campground that closed several years ago because they were going to build condos on the site. If it is we paid about $90.00 per night including tax in April of 2003. No ... nothing is cheap in the Keys.

RE: Air Compressor

I carry the Porter Cable pancake compressor also. Does a great job of maintaining 110 PSI in my tires.

RE: Can anyone answer this question?

As far as the Driver License goes, then you are looking at $48.00 + a $7.00 motorcycle endorsement fee. Total $55.00. Now if you have a commercial DL whole nother story. If you use a County Tax Collector to get your license you will pay an additional $6.25. Make sure you have the documents mentioned on the web site ... ie, certified Birth Certificate or valid US Passport, Social Security Card or 1099 with full 9 number SS number and two pieces of mail with your name and address (not PO Box).

RE: Can anyone answer this question?

Little more bad knews for you. If your motorcycle endorsement is from Alabama, Florida does not recognize it. You willl have to take the MSF course.

RE: Is RV Surplus Salvage in Elkhart still worth a trip?

I was there the first week of February. It's not the same place it was when located on W Bristol Street. Most of the parts are new ... might as well go to Camping World ... same stuff.
I was on my way to Battle Creek, Michigan so got on 12 towards Sturgis and stopped at a RV Surplus place called Johnsons'. They looked like the old RV Surplus. They are located about 5 miles west of 131 on 12. If you stay on 12 and go east of 131 then you will run into Bontrager's. There is also a RV surplus place located about 3 miles north of 12 on 131 ... don't know the name of it though.

RE: FL. Sunpass

We use e-Pass (not the east coast E-Z-Pass). I have the removable transponders for my three everyday vehicles, they cost us $50.00 each but the money goes to the toll account. We also have a mini-transponder that is permenantly mounted in the windsheild of the Motorhome. It was free but we had to add $25.00 to our account. We have to maintain at least a $40.00 balance in the account ... if it falls below that amount they charge our debit card $85.00 to restock our accoount. This works great for us as it can be used at the parking garage at Orlando International Airport plus it is good wherever SunPass is accepted in Florida. When we have the toad behind the coach we remove the removable transponder and place it in a pouch which is provided and the mini-transponder takes responsibility for the tolls. The one thing I don't care for is (for instance) when towing the toad we are charged for one 2 axle vehicle plus 2 additional axles which equates to 3 time the 2 axle toll. I whish there was someway to only be charged for two - 2 axle - tolls.

RE: Driving with no valid license because of a catch 22

Yes the 1099 or Pay Stub are accepted ILO the Social Security Card but either form cannot be hand written and the SS number must contain all 9 numbers. Many 1099s and Pay stubs only contain the last 4 digits. Don't forget your CERTIFIED Birth Certificate or VALID US Passport, annnnd 2 proofs of Resident address.

RE: Florida Tag costs

The DIRECTV bill and a credit card bill will work as long as the service address shows a physical residental address in Florida (unless on Active Military Duty). You can have a different mailing address (PO Box, mail forwarding address, etc), but you must be able to prove the permanent physical address. You mentioned the certified birth certificate (not hospital), SS card and your license/ID card from previous state. If you are a married woman using a name other than maiden name you must show certified name change documentation.
This can all be verified by logging on MYFLORIDA.COM, looking up Driver Licenses and go to the Gather, Go, Get site. Please read all the information that is there ... It explains everything I'm telling you. Also, if you have a Commercial DL you must certify your license (DOT Medical Card) now.

RE: No heat and no air conditioning

I've got a 2000 Riata. Had a similar problem a few years ago. Open the engine cover ... on the panel at the foot of the bed are several electrical connections and fuses ... there are three 125 amp buse fuses ... take an ohm meter and make sure one or all are not blown. I had to special order the correct size fuse but if there is a car stereo shop near you they sell fuses that will work. They are larger (200 Amp I found) but you at least will have heat till you get the correct size.
