RE: Where to go (west) after San Antonio, TX

You've received some great suggestions. Just a couple of small sites you might want to see along this route.
A few miles west of Del Rio,Tx., headed toward Big Bend, is Langtry, Tx where Judge Roy Bean--Law West of the Pecos--presided. A Diorama and the small Opera House that he built for Lillie Langtry, a World known singer he was obsessed with his whole adult life that he never got to meet. She came through Langtry a few months after his death and visited the Opera House. The best thing about all this is that it's Free, at least 4 years ago it was.
Another place you might enjoy is McDonald's Observatory. They have Star Parties on certain nights, weather permitting, where many of the locals bring their gigantic telescopes out and you can view the stars like you've never seen before. This is a few Miles out of Ft. Davis and Davis Mtn State Park.
Enjoy, John K.

Arkansas recommended camping ares

Just moved into Arkansas,Hot Springs Village area, and would like to get suggestions on great areas for camping. I understand there are some State Parks that are awesome and Buffalo River and White River are other spots highly recommended. Anything within approx. 200 miles of Hot Springs. Like viewing nature, Golf, Mountains, Lakes/Rivers, Scenic Drives.
I am self contained but would prefer at least electric.
Any info you can supply is greatly appreciated.

RE: Fall in Arkansas

I Live just east of Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village, and last year it was in full bloom 10/28. I see some change starting already so I think 10/28 would be a good date to shoot at.

RE: Baltimore area attractions

We were there in Late June and didn't see any problems. We stayed at Cherry Hill above D.C. and did a one day commute to Baltimore. We dropped down to Annapolis and toured the Academy, went through Ft. McHenry( where the battle in 1814 inspired Francis Scott Key to write the Star Spangled Banner-we stood on the ramparts and had our hands on an original bombs bursting in air--Way Cool!!!--The previous day in D.C. we had toured the American Museum of Hisrory and saw the original flag that flew over Ft. McHenry during the battle. We also cruised the Inner Harbor which took us by water passed the Fort.
Did you know that the Star Spangled Banner was not accepted as our National Anthem until 1930?

RE: Niagara Falls

We spent July 2nd & 3rd at Niagara Falls. We did five attractions and ranked them, in our humble opinion, as follows:
1. Maid of the Mist--If you do nothing else do this
2. Journey behind the Falls--not so much the Portals/Tunnels but the Observation Decks
3. Niagara Fury
4. Whirlpool Aero Tram
5. Whitewater Walk
On the first three you will get wet, to some degree, not drenched if you have your rain slicker on right.
The Advantage Pass is the best way to go. We paid $42 each including Tax and got #s 1,2,3 & 5 for that price. Many more you get for 1/2 price if you elect. We did #4 at 1/2 price, I believe $5/6. included in this pass is two days of transportation on the People Mover--Green tandem buses. Great way to go from one attraction to another, on the Canadian side.
Like any touristy area prices are not cheap.
Our biggest dissappointment was the lighting of the falls. While it was somewhat breathtaking it did not have the color that you see on postcards--bummer. Also, the fireworks lasted all of 4 minutes.
We crossed and recrossed at the Peace Bridge and total time for both was approx. 5-7 minutes.
Be prepared to see something awesome, Enjoy!!!

Touring little league stadium in Williamsport.pa

In route to Harrisburg,Pa. We will be passing through Williamsport,Pa and wondered if we would be allowed up close to the field at Lamade Std, possibly walk on the field? Also, will tour the Museum.
Depending on how much time is spent on these venues we might stay in the area overnight Any suggestions on a CG. Would be nice to locate a CG we might be able to use if we ever came back for the World Series.
Thanks for your comments.

RE: Headed to Cherry Hill this saturday

We just left Cherry Hill Monday, after 4 days. We also did the White House and U S Capitol. We had previously done Mt.Vernon On 9/13/01. Other museums that was top on our list was National Archives(view the original Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Bill of
Rights and the Magna Carta) the American History Museum,Natural History Museum,Holocaust Museum,Vietnam Memorial Wall, Lincoln Monument, Washington Memorial and some others.
There is a Marketplace about a mile from CG.
Make sure you have directions to the CG as those supplied on the CGs literature are bogus.
They have great directions to the Metro station if you want to drive your vehicle or a Metro bus stops right in the CG. Just ask how to use the Metro and Parking lot Smart Cards.
We also went over to Annapolis and Baltimore. Just on the edge of Baltimore is Fort McHenry, the birthplace of the Star Spangled Banner. Was able to see and touch two of the bombs bursting in air and stood on the ramparts and other things associated with this period. The day before, I believe in the American History Museum, viewed the actual Star Spangled Banner--The actual flag that flew over the Fort when Francis Scott Key wrote the Four verse National Anthem. I didn't know that SSB was originally written as a poem and it was not selected as our NA until the 1930s. Wow, how much cooler can that be. The Tour of Annapolis was great.
Enjoy, you have many great things ahead of you to see and do.
We are presently in Gettysburg and toured the battlefield today--Awesome.

RE: Atlantic City to Liberty RV Park, Jersey City

How much do the tolls usually costs and approx. how many tolls between AC and Liberty RV? How much is an easy pass? I'm not worried about the total cost of the tolls but I just wanted to have the correct amount ready or what lane type should I drive through. Not all that familiar with toll ways.

Atlantic City to Liberty RV Park, Jersey City

Looking for the best/easiest route from Atlantic City to Liberty RV Park in Jersey City. I'm a good driver but not sure of what type traffic I will run into. I was hoping for a route not including toll roads, if possible--possibly hwy 9. Maybe I'm making to big a thing in being concerned about what I might encounter. I've done Mapquest and come up with a route but would like someone who lives in the area or have done this same route to comment. I will be going in mid day on a Sunday.
Thanks, John K.

RE: Looking for Tennesse CG & sights

From a fellow San Antonian. We are currently in Pigeon Forge,TN and the Smoky Mtns.--WOW!! One of God's Garden spots. Saw seven black bears in the last two days--Cades Cove Loop(11 miles)and the Roaring Fork Auto Nature Trail Loop(6 miles) out of Gatlinburg. the great thing is everything in the National Park is free even no entrance fee--???.They will get your money in the tourist areas. We are staying at Creekside RV Park. A very clean park just off the main drag in PG. Great showers with WIFI and cable--$32. Cons--sites are very close and quite tight in negotiating some turns and back ins but very doable.
We came up through Chattannoga(sp) and highly recommend Rock City--great attraction. We also did Ruby Falls but while fairly nice I wouldn't recommend it. Others opinions may vary. We did not do the Incline Railway because of mixed reviews from this Forum. Also, we went downtown and took pics of the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
We have preciously done Memphis(Graceland) and Nashville(Grand Opry
and enjoyed both cities.
Tennessee is a great state to visit and you will enjoy wherever you decide to land.

RE: Prairie Dogs in SD & What to do in the Tetons

Strongly agree with others on the wildlife loop in Custer State Park. The begging burrows will come up and stick there noses in the window looking for something to eat. Instead of a traffic jam you are more likely to be in a buffalo jam. Just have patience and they will move off in a short while. Also, on the road just before you get to Devil's Tower will be a Prairie Dog Colony that will keep you and the girls entertained for awhile.
You have selected some great places to visit, enjoy.
