How to go about pricing

My wife and I bought our Class A gasser about a year ago, did a full time 7 month trip around the US and now are looking to sell our RV. How would you go about pricing? We are seeing a lot of variation between craigslist, rv trader, nadaguides, and so on.

RE: Dolly vs. 4 Down

It seems like towbar is faster to connect and disconnect, but that is just a casual observation. We tow our 4runner (rear driveshaft removed), its a touch over 4000lbs with the F53 (v-10) chassis. The Rockies were not fun, but other than that its been fine. We can connect and disconnect in under a minute. Am I seeing this wrong? With a dolly, you hook it up, drive the towed vehicle onto the little ramps, strap the wheels down and head off - assuming the vehicle can tow this way - which I assume any FWD can. The dolly has the brakes and the light wiring built in and no mods to the toad. How is this more difficult than 4down towing (maybe a little devil's advocate)? Can the dolly be moved around by hand so that it is behind the MOHO while camping? Are there other big inconveniences to a dolly? Is it quicker to hook one up over the other? I don't think you can back either up. II think the full car trailer isn't an option although I could see that for a show car.

RE: Intellitec Transfer Switch 15Amps???

Ok, so educate me - why would the time control relay only be 15A? Generator puts out nearly 45 amps?

Intellitec Transfer Switch 15Amps???

Our transfer switch in our 2000 Fleetwood Pace Arrow Vision started buzzing lately, have never looked at it, it is model "00-00568-000". Can't believe its only 15A rated? No wonder its toast! Wondering why this would be installed on a 30A rig?

RE: Can you determine State Of Charge just from Voltage

Just anecdotal, I think resting voltage is a rough gauge, 12.5 is say >90%. On my small 220AH system the voltage stabilizes within 0.05v in about 10-15 minutes of disconnecting the charger or load. Edit: One other thing.... Would be curious to see what others say about the watt meters, it seems like you can float 2A forever, so amp hours in vs. amp hours out could be 10:1 or more. How would you factor that?

RE: How many amp service for two A/C's

We have two AC units on a 30amp coach, and both can run at the same time. The energy management system will dump the bedroom unit when the microwave fires up. Other than that, both run with the refrigerator and electric water heater both also powered on. The AC units are both 13.5amp units, and once they get started up, the total draw with both running is about half that. That said, having a 50amp site guarantees you'll be able to run both units no matter what rig you get. al Ditto here, no issues running two on 30A - When the DW forgets they are both on and fires up the microwave... the controller automatically turns off one of the compressors - it has a total current sensor on the main feed coming from the transfer switch. It also doesn't let them both start at the same time. We have run two continuously on 30A including a 5A on the inverter/charger for battery float, laptops, and a fan.

RE: Somewhere between Phoenix and Joshua Tree

All, thanks for the tips - we ended up staying near dome rock off of Cholla Road. It was pretty amazing scenery, and very peaceful, far enough from I-10 to be quiet. (the only exception is one neighbor a quarter mile off with a poorly tuned generator that ran for about an hour in the evening) Camp host was off duty so we didn't even need to bother with a permit. http://www.spd-reality.com/DSCN9497.jpg

RE: Max length of 30 amp cord?

OP here, thanks for the advice. I'm lost as to electric codes, standards. The voltage drop calculator is way over my head :M Actually what I doing is using our old 5800 watt generator which use to power our old RV, and power the stick and brick during outages, like in the storm Sandy. Ready to move forward with the manual transfer switch ( 10 circits) but the best protected area for me to run the genny is the lean-to attached to the garage which is 75-100' away. I realize the genny is only good for about 5kw watts constant power, 5800 max. And I also realize the start up motor's of the fridge, well pump and furnace draw more power. I just wanted to know if the longer cord lowered my 5kw and a estimate of how much. Thanks again everyone If you really want to run 5800 watts @ 120VAC over 100', you should probably have at least 8 gauge wires, better if 6 gauge. Typical 50' 30A RV style cords are like 10 gauge, not big enough. I would use this: Home Depot 6/3 Cable

RE: RVing in the Seattle, Oregon, Vancouver Area-Suggestions?

Depending on the size of your RV and your pocket book for ferry tolls, would highly recommend checking out the san juan islands.

RE: Max length of 30 amp cord?

Voltage Drop Calculator You decide. I would use 8 Ga. myself for a 30 amp load. Ya, ditto, assuming you need an actual 30Amps at 100'. I have run 100' on a standard extension cord but you are losing 10+ volts at 15 amps.

RE: No more Twinkies???

Freedom to collectively bargain is a good thing. Legislation that prevent firms from sourcing their labor elsewhere is not.

Looking for a source of the small metal tounge that serves as the latch for the battery door (and drivers side forward compartment) on a 2000 fleetwood pace arrow vision. Both of my side compartments have busted recently. Picture

RE: Do any three stage chargers offer true 100% SOC?

Now that is great advice. I'll cheat and go back and steal one of William Jefferson Clinton's more infamous quotes... "It Depends On The Meaning Of The Word 'Is'" To me, fully charging a battery means achieving the best of compromises. But the end result must be, the absolute highest amount of kWh activity delivered during the lifespan of the battery... Divided by the original purchase price, the money used to recharge the battery and the amount of human effort needed to achieve maximum service life. Equalization costs human effort and electrical energy. It has to be factored into the formula. So does top charging, watering, and other maintenance. You have to keep in mind, lightly loaded batteries that see very occasional use are like tires "Hey man my tires lasted eight years" is next to valueless. Therefore, "Hey man my battery lasted 878 kWh" would be a rational way of stating a goal, but who uses that? no one I am aware of. And then follow up by 878 kWh at a cost of $---- Well shoot, people brag all the time their 200 dollar tires went X number of miles. But battery claims are elusive, vague, contradictory, and illusory unless all the data is factored in. How do you monitor any electro chemical process? By chemistry alone? I don't think so. By electrical values alone? Equally invalid. Yeah I know this is going to confuse the issue. But my intention is to show that "Fully Charged" is at best ambiguous. I tend to keep this in mind.

RE: Diesel Generator Hours a Concern?

The conventional wisdom is low hour generators are more problematic than high ones. They need exercise. OTOH, we bough a gas ONAN, 12 years old, only 150 hours, and it has been working like a champ, we try to fire it up weekly needed or not.

RE: Volt/Ammeter mod: Monitoring charge current from truck to TC

I must be missing something... maybe two things: 1) Is the car computer aware of the specifics of the TC house bank in terms of voltage needs? Seems it would be tuned for starting batteries? 2) What is the voltage drop for 2ga running 180amps over say ten feet? My inverter pulls less than that (and pushes half that) and everything I could find said 1/0 @ 3 ft.

RE: Volt/Ammeter mod: Monitoring charge current from truck to TC

Curious, do you use an aftermarket alternator controller? No, late model RAM alternators are controlled by the truck's PCM... though my alternator is a high-output (180A) model from DC Power. -Mark Well, don't let Handy Bob find out.
