RE: EMERGENCY START SWITCH

Since the trigger for the relay connected to the switch is fed off the house batteries, if the house batteries are the ones that are low, and the generator starts from the house batteries (ours does), there at some time might not be enough voltage in the house batteries to trigger the relay, so it might not work that way. Been there, done that...

RE: removing Eclipse radio from E-450 dash

Youtube has a few videos about this, but too helpful. They seem to get stuck at the steering wheel, as you do. What about stopping by a Ford dealer and asking in the service dept? Sometimes, they are friendly.

RE: Fleetwood Quest 2010

I was told by an owner of one that the Quests were all 2010 models because Fleetwood filed bankruptcy in 2008-9 and came back in 2010 and built all the Quests from old chasses they had laying around. I was told that every one is different inside as they used different left over parts. I was told there are 150 of them. We almost bought one; still have nothing against them except the one we were looking at was on a 2008 chassis and engine. We thought that was too old for a 2010 model.
Good luck

RE: Driving a class C

I have a 2012 Tioga Ranger 28 and it is almost identical to yours. I drove it 15000 miles to Alaska and back in all kinds of wind with none of your issues. Something's fishy.

RE: cost of tolls and EZ Pass from ME to FL

Just so you know, once you get to the Orlando area, if you drive on any of the tollways around there, they call their machine the EZ pass too, but it is NOT compatible with the out of state ones. It IS compatible with the SunPass, found in other places in Florida. Goofy, huh?

RE: HWH Leveling

I drove to the HWH factory in east Iowa last May and had the factory install their kickdown jacks on my 29' Tioga class C. $3100 out the door. A job well done.

RE: Bigfoot leveling system

We had HWH kickdowns installed at the factory in IA. Buy the jacks and the installation is free.
Drove the unit 13000 miles to Alaska and back stopping in a different place almost every night without the first problem.
They do it all the time. Vewry precise, no sloppyness. They did say straight jacks would not fit our unit, 2012 Fleetwood Tioga Ranger 29'

RE: No response to gas pedal

My Cummins on a Spartan Chassis did this for a week a couple of years ago. Spartan was called and said they had heard of the problem, but had no answer. We took the accelerator apart, checked all the connections, took it to our service guy. He kept it a week and could make the problem appear. We took it home and drove it another 10 000 miles without the problem ever appearing again, before we traded it in.
Ours, ir you kept your foot all the way down on the pedal, would gradually, after 30 seconds or so, start to speed up the engine, and then would be normal, until you shut it off again.

RE: Fleetwood Tioga battery monitor

Thanks!
Fleetwood has been doing a lot better since it went through its bankrupcy. I am very impressed with the "extras" in this vehicle.
I put a Trik-L-Start in my last MH. Worked well.
I use a good cigarette plug digital voltmeter to check batteries. I just found a 12v outlet next to the bedroom tv that makes it esy to check house battery. The dash cigarette plugs (3 of them) all run off the starting battery.

RE: Fleetwood Tioga battery monitor

Thanks Bordercollie. My question concerned the "house" as both monitors read the same battery. One says main and one says says aux but both read the same thing. I was wondering if all new Fleetood class c's were wired this way. Seems dumb.
I would have thought that one monitor would be the chassis and one would be the house. As you said, there is no monitor on the chassis. One day I might get in there and change the wiring on one of the monitors.
Also, actually, my converter (three stage) does charge both the house and chassis battery when I plug it in. Go figure.
Both my previous class A's had a monitor for both chassis and house batteries.

Fleetwood Tioga battery monitor

I have a 2012 Tioga Ranger on a Ford E450 chassis. I have reason to think that the monitor system, it checks black tank, gray tank, propane, main battery and aux battery, is checking the same battery for both batteries. It is checking the house batter under the stairs, but not the chassis battery, under the hood. Anyone else think this?
Recently, I let the house battery go down, and both monitors showed low, but the chassis battery was still at 12.5 v. Do you think they mis-wired the monitor?

RE: What is the big upkeep of the diesel everyone is mentioning?

Echoeing what Johnin AZ said, our DP lost a head gasket in the Cummins, and it cost $13K to have it fixed. Granted, they found other stuff that put the bill taht high along the way, but all had to be done. We since have traded it for a V10. Too many of those repair costs, and I'd have to go back to work! Ugh!

RE: SCISSOR JACKS

We have kickup jacks put on at the HWH factory. $3100 or so last May.
I have had three RVs with HWH jacks and have been very happy with both service and performance. My friend had BigFoot with no service from the manufacturer at all.

RE: Oil on HWH holding tank

Did ou fill it recently while the jacks were down? If you did, when the jacks come up, they vent the oil out the top as the oil in the jacks comes back up.

RE: leveler jacks installed incorrectly?

we had HWH kick up jacks installed in May at their factory. The parking brake has to be on and the key has to be on or in accessory position to get power.
Hope this helps....

RE: How do you remove wheel covers

On my 2012 Ford Chassis E-450 Fleetwood Tioga, the rear and front are just friction held wheelcovers, disguised to look like you'd have to remove some of the caps. I just pry around the edge with a tire iron and they pop off.

RE: Ball Joints @ 19,000 miles?

My mechanic, who is Ford authorized, told me when we bought our 2012 E450 that we were getting a really good chassis, but that I would end up changing ball joints, as they were the weak spot. He said when that point came, to go the aftermarket route with ball joints that could be greased.
