RE: Storage box in pickup bed

I just bought the same aluminum box as in the picture from TSC. On sale for $250.00 weighs less than 50 lbs empty. Your not going to do that with a homemade. One thing the big box now holds so much stuff I can't see the use for the rear box except it looks neat.:S

Supposedly you lose and security measures that were incorporated in your locked phone.

RE: portable deck with stairs

We have the Hoffman deck and stairs. A bit pricey but they are amazing. We bought them when my mother in law had a stroke and had difficulty getting in and out of the 5er. Now were not onsite any more and I'll have to sell them. But if I was going back to a seasonal site they would be my first choice. Sturdy and portable. http://www.hofmannccr.com/

RE: Battle of Remagen reenactment

WWII days are every year at the Reading PA airport. This was our first trip and a lot of the cool WWII warbirds were there, plus American, German, Russian encampments. The even have a European style village to show the house to house fighting. Lots of demos. You can even go for rides for a price in B24, B25, B17 or a couple of smaller aircraft.

RE: East Coast RV Trips

roamer1. We didn't go into Pine Creek via 13. The gps took us on some back roads. We didn't start off to well setting up in the campground either. First there were 2 holes cover with grass and my DW didn't see them she stepped into one and landed on her back. Then while I was looking for the hookups I couldn't find the electric. Seems it was in a growth of brush covered with wild rose bushes. The campground was fine for us to go to the Finger Lakes Wine festival and visits to the waterfalls and Ithaca. When we left we came down 327 to 96 to 17 east to 81. It wasn't bad except I was freaked out by the low bridges 12'6 and 12'7 in Ostego. I'm supposed to be 12'8. As it worked out they both must have been 13+ because everything on the roof is still there.

RE: East Coast RV Trips

Romer1. Yes it is Pine Creek. I guess I'll have to be up for a challenge drive towing the 5er. Thanks for the warning.

RE: East Coast RV Trips

Something different would be a trip to NY's Finger Lakes. Literally 100's of wineries, lots of microbrew pubs, and beautiful scenery like water falls lakes and beautiful country. Headed there tomorrow for the Finger Lakes Wine festival. It's the area more than the campground I'm going for. Staying at a place called Pine something south of Ithaca. We' never stayed there but I'm sure we'll manage.

RE: Lancaster County, PA Area

Some years ago we stayed at Beacon Hill. Yes it is in the heart of the Amish country but the Amish are very busy people all night. The clippity cloppity of the carriages and horses kept us wake most time. After working the young uns go courting to the wee hours of the morning.

RE: Snake oil rv products vs must haves

Electric drill for the stab jacks. Snake oil= an electric impact wrench for the stab jack. Way to noisy.

RE: Ram's Auto-Leveling Air-Worth it if tongue weight is 3,000?

Depends on cost for the option and how much you tow. Due to both factors I run Timbrens.

RE: Filling Fresh Water Tank

PA state parks have a fresh water filling area also in the lot you dump at. They are not close to each other but they are in the same general vicinity. The only other option is to hook up to one of the faucets in the camping loops and fill. But you may block traffic.

RE: No Electric When Hooked up

Had that happen this weekend at Old Millstream Campground in Lancaster. The 50A wasn't working and they were supposed to be working on it. Went up to a friends campfire and when we returned there was no electric to 4 sites. The electrician left and said it was an underground short. Sounds funny in the fact the 30a worked fine until they started working on it then there was no power and no chance of getting any. I had to go to the office and asked for another site. There was no sorry please find a site that suits you. Then because they didn't log me into the new site they came and told me I owed them for a night's site fee. I told them not to expect it. Nicely of course.

RE: satelitte dish

daystrom. I tried changing the settings. It will not let me select any antenna but the slimline and doesn't allow multi switch. Also there is now power coming out so my signal meter doesn't even have power. Unfortunately it is for High Def on a SWM hookup which I don't have and didn't want. But that's the only box they are using in our area now.

RE: Slide not even

Look underneath at the slide motor and check if the mounting bolts are loose. I had mine loosen up then it sheared the motor mounting brackets.

RE: 5th Wheel lock to the truck

I think my whole hitch weighs about 290lbs. The may get parts but good luck on the rest. Then they also have to get the custom brackets to mount to a vehicle. 16k Superglide. I do put a lock so the pin can't be pulled when traveling but that's it.
