RE: Use Water Pan for Smoking Turkey?

The couple of times I smoked the turkey, I brined it in a mixture of apple juice and water. When I filled the water pan I did the same thing half water half apple juice. Wonderful. I have a thermal blanket that wraps the smoker to hold in the heat on the cold days and when using the electric. It seems the electric doesn't get the same kind of heat the charcoal does by about 20deg. Also be sure to keep it out of the wind as previously mentioned. Have a Happy

RE: Television Antenna Leak

X2 on the coax boot. Whenever I put the antenna up or down the boot came loose. I put a little dab of silicone on the boot. All's good.

RE: Halloween Contests At CG

Some years ago the group we were with all teamed up and decorated 1 site instead of 6. We had a smoke machine, a strobe light, music from the X factor, a pumpkin ladder. One of the guys even made a cardboard coffin to lay in and rise from. We also had a big pot hanging over the fire which was actually our group stew for dinner. We had a ball and won the campground prize. We gave it the guy who kept rising out of the coffin. He couldn' move the next day. We had witches, warewolves, and a few other customed people wandering the site. Some of the little kids would look in and sent their parents in for the trick or treats. By the end of the night the teenagers where shouting for Otis, Otis our old guy in the coffin. Great time. When were alone it's a lot less preperation and we go to see everybody elses site(lets see where the heck is my werewolf mask) Enjoy the season.:B

RE: Park Where you want...

Although I didn't have the tranny go out. I ended up in that position with a flat tire on the tow vehicle. Couldn't get the camper out of the road. Then because the spare is under the vehicle I had to unhook to be able to lower the spare. Swapped the tire rehooked to the rv and then backed into the site. I lot of folks weren't happy because I was blocking the road but I didn't have a lot of choices.:R

My brother was looking at a 38' 1986 Elite Coach and that had a rear gas engine. I don't know if the owner had an overheating problems though.

RE: storing rv on gravel, is this bad for my tires?

In the storage lot it's parked on gravel. When I go camping it's parked on gravel. No issues.

RE: Harley on a 5er

I saw a Harley on the back of 5er one time. When I talked to the owner it was a major welding project. Like building a frame within the frame. But it did look good. I remember he did have to make sure the tanks were full when towing so that it didn't handle badly. An Idaho tote might be the only reasonable solution.

RE: Medicare Advantage for Full Timers?

We're in Pennsylvania and my wife got a medicare advantage plan from Blue cross, Senior Blue. Its listed as being good in all the lower 48 but we haven't tried it yet. $63.00 a month and $15.00 for primary doctor visit. Of course getting a medicare advantage plan depends on your overall health and doctor useage.

RE: Locus Lake State Park, Pa

PA state parks only have electric no water on their sites. Look at the campground map and you can see the rv sites.

RE: Cast Iron Skellet Cleanup Question

The older pans when treated are less likely to stick because they were actually machined or polished after cast. The newer pans are not and are much more porus. But I agree with robsouth and don't have problems with any of my cast iron when using soap. By the way yes wipethe pan out with a paper towel to get the grease it also makes great fire starter that way.
