RE: Crazy Truck Dealers

KBB, Edmunds, and NADA aren't really that useful.
If a dealer can buy a truck similar at the auctions for $30K, why would he give you far more? Auction prices are what drive trade-in values.

RE: Toy Hauler Information Overload! HELP!

Thanks!
We hit about 25 or so annually so if you don't mind... what brands are you talking about in terms of "serious race trailer"?
We have a Raptor and its been pretty good so far. We do the Dirtbike and quad thing and it works for us. It does sleep a butt load of people. Quality is a bit subjective. Since you guys race and are used to stuff failing/breaking than a RV is right up your ally. IMHO if you go to the local races and camp a mainstream TH should be ok. If you are racing 30 or more weekends a year than u may be disappointed. A more serious race trailer may be in order.
Have you talked with East Coast near Mocksville? We've been there to look around. They mostly had horse trailers but "Wow". They could have easily been race trailers if the garage was set up differently.
Does something like this interest you at all? I could see us going this route if we keep racing. It would need a few mods but even the wife is OK with this. Its certainly not as glamorous as the mainstream toy haulers.

RE: Toy Hauler Information Overload! HELP!

We race quads in NC and SC. So we're in a similar situation as what you're getting into.
For starters, our Cyclone and dealing with Heartland has been a nightmare. Enough said about that.
I love the Raptor Velocity and the XLRs. Great choices but I think leaving out the Voltages is a possible mistake. I like them. Infernos are great and I believe they still come with a 2 year warranty. That's a rarity.
Now the BIG question. Will you be using this for almost entirely racing at the tracks? If so, I'd go a different route. Look into the Work & Play toy haulers or a dedicated race trailer. Their garages are usually much bigger and they seem to be built tougher for that type of camping.
But they aren't nearly as "nice" inside as the typical brands you've already mentioned. If you plan to use it a lot on just regular camping trips, you'll probably want to stay with the Raptors, etc..
Best of luck.:)

RE: another fort wilderness question

One camp ground I would love to go to... take 2 weeks off, 4 days to get there, 4-5 days there then 4 more to get back...in a different route of course!!
Take more days off. Especially your first time, you won't want to leave.

RE: Willowtree Rv Resort- Myrtle Beach SC- site photo request

If those were my choices, I'd go with 21. We like being on the lake. It'll be a little further to the swimming areas. if you have a golf cart, by all means, take it.
Here is site 14. Not that it helps a whole lot.

For two trips a year?
I think you overestimate the resistance from your camper and the strength of your truck.

RE: info needed please 2012 cyclone 4014

We have the Cyclone 3010 and haven't had too many issue with it so far. There were some minor issues that were fixed pretty quickly.
Every company will have issues. When I went to go look at the factory I was shocked, it's nothing like the Ducati Factory or any car factories. There was******everywhere. I think that might be like most RV factories - but again. My image was nothing like I expected.
BUT that being said, I am looking at extended warranties. I know most people say DON'T do it and to just self insure of fix it yourself, but I'm not handy... lawn specialties. I sent you a PM to ask you about your extended warranty info, if you don't mind sharing.
PM sent :)

RE: info needed please 2012 cyclone 4014

I'm one of those Y-Guy is referring to. In all honesty, we have been extremely disappointed with our Cyclone and especially at how poorly we've been treated by Heartland. We don't have a 4014 though. Its a 2011 370C.
Some here will tell you they've had wonderful experiences. Some will say they've had terrible experiences similar to mine. If you do get a 4014, hopefully you'll be one of the lucky buyers.
If I could recommend one thing: Get a very good extended warranty. Our Heartland warranty ran out almost a year ago. This past year, our extended warranty has already saved us over $1000. Please don't get me started about our first year experiences.
Best of luck whatever you get. :)

RE: Planning to Toy Haul Full Time - Looking for Advice

10 years of full-timing in a TH-
You need to buy a New Horizons or other very high end unit. The rest of them just are not going to stand up to the use- unless you haul your unit very little which IMO is the hardest thing on them.
Great advice from fly-boy. But if you can't go that expensive, the Voltages do seem to be better made toy haulers.
As a Cyclone owner, I couldn't imagine full-timing in it. Extremely poor performance in extreme temps has been our experience. As for the quality of craftsmanship? Don't get me started. :M

RE: In search of top 5 quality/durable toy haulers, 14+ Garage

Look at the FW and GN car hauler style trailers that have forward living quarters. They have larger garages and can become the kids room when you close off the door to the rest of the unit. Some manufacturers to research: Carson, Work n Play, InTech, Millennium, FeatherLite
What kind of tow vehicle do you have? If you do not have a DRW setup stay with the latter three that use an aluminum chassis and weigh in 9K-10K empty.
X2. You do not want a Cyclone, Raptor, etc. in my opinion. They won't be as "pretty" inside but a Work & Play or a dedicated race trailer is as tough as they come.

RE: Ford Trucks / Lowest Price Paid

$14,000 off is awesome. Mine was at $11,000 off and I've also heard of others at $12,000 off. Timing is the key.
I bought mine in late May. Holiday weekend, end of the month, and the 2012's were getting ready to come out within a months or so.

RE: Anyone owne a Keystone Raptor?

We have the 2011 Raptor 4014. We have had several problems with it but all were fixed. The biggest problem was the wall between the garage and living area. The door wouldn't shut and the fix was to rebuild the wall to make it square and also square the door frame. After that, all is well with the door.
When we bought our Cyclone, it came down a choice of the Cyclone versus a Raptor 4014. We chose the Cyclone only because we liked the interior colors better.
That was one of the worst camper decisions I've ever made. I'd love to go back in time and rethink that choice. :S

RE: 6.7 Powerstrokes!

I've had the last four Power Strokes. An '01 7.3, an '05 6.0, an '09 6.4, and an '11 6.7. They keep getting better and stronger every time.
I too had a great 6.0 for four years. But you will be quite impressed with the new 6.7.

What does that front license plate represent? I see them from time to time and have wondered what they were for.
