RE: Shower advice please!

Not sure if this will help on yours, but I put a spring loaded shelf bar in ours today.
https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/p480x480/934058_4287941970452_1913029912_n.jpg
I have one of the spring loaded shelves as well, but i put it outside the shower where one can reach for anything needed. I was afraid it would poke thru the floor and DH needs all the room he can get in the shower.
I hang small market baskets from the shower rod for the bars of soap and mini shampoos. They are a smaller version of the hanging baskets often found in kitchens for veggies and I got them at the dollar store.

RE: WiFi In Parks - A Worthy Project

Thanks! Small list thus far, so I hope this gets the word out.
While it would be nice to camp to get a way from it all, WiFi is necessary as I need to be online for my job. My job is what enables me to camp. And camping is what enables me to do my job with a smile on my face.

RE: plastic leveling blocks - What Do You Think?

I have a bag of Lynx Levelers and won a set of caps from their FB giveaway last year.
Parked the TT on soft ground for winter storage on top of the Lynx. Will have to pry them out of the ground when we move the trailer for camping, but way better than being on the grass all winter.
Great product at little weight. I can see them, too, when we pull out of the campsite so haven't lost one yet.

It was new information to the OP, then someone else clarified the information - a forum is a dialogue, not a debate. I agree with matt7591.

RE: age

Bought my TT when I turned 54 last year, and bought my tent a few months later. Used the tent for an enclosed storage area last year, but this year will use the TT with DH, and the tent when I am solo camping.

RE: Campfires: Love them or hate them?

Saw the Bic Flamedisk today which might be good for toasting marshmallows with the grandkids. It burns for 30-45 minutes which is about their attention span. $5 each, and two take up about the same space as a frozen pie box.

RE: i have no idea what i am doing

My mom is in a nursing home in another state, and I tent camp when I visit her by myself.
I would suggest putting up a tent no matter what. I always carry a 4 person Coleman pop up Insta-tent that I can put up myself in less than 5 minutes. It is lightweight, too, when folded up.
here is what I use - Mine was priced less in the store, btw
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-8-x-7-Instant-Tent-Sleeps-4/20594139
It would make you appear less "transient". It also marks your territory if you take your car outside of the campground to get a meal etc. You can always use the tent to store items out of the weather overnight if you choose to sleep in the car.
I would put two chairs out in front of it, even though you are traveling solo, to give the appearance of another person traveling with you to other campers (not just for safety - sometimes people feel they have to look out for you when you are by yourself, no matter how capable you are.) Some solo campers put two pair of different size shoes outside of the door
I like the Coleman folding cot with a mattress - works well for creaky 55 year old bones. This would be your bulkiest item, but since it is flat, everything can be stored on top of it in your vehicle, or, store the odd shaped items first and put this on top - works well if you have an SUV so your other items (such as a camera bag) are covered while you stop during your travels.
This is what I use - Mine was green when purchased in the store

My dog is 13 lbs and I use a 15 ft tether with clip hooks on either end. It came with a screw hook that goes into the ground. While it is over the 6 ft leash rule, no one has ever had an issue with it.
Mine is like this, but I was able to get one with a smaller lead at Dollar General. In a pinch, you can wrap the lead around a picnic table leg while you are setting up. It also makes a nice clothesline.

RE: No travel trailer for me

I went with a loan. Much easier spreading payments out than trying to come up with the amount in cash. We went with a basic little trailer that still has more amenities than my first apartment. I am glad I didn't wait.

RE: Major downsize, anyone else?

We started small with a 14ft, and I think we are outdoors more because of it. I invested in sets of chairs -
a pair of canvas rockers which go against the rig under the awning
a pair of heavy duty canvas Coleman folding chairs which go by the firepit
and two folding chairs and a small table - all molded plastic - under the front of the awning for a bistro effect outdoors as DH has trouble maneuvering the picnic tables.
Sounds like a lot for two people, but it would be the equivalent of living room, den, and breakfast nook, only outdoors.
I carry a small popup tent, and if it rains, the canvas stuff goes into it so a person could be inside the rig and another person could hang out in the tent. So, if DH is napping in the rig, I can be in the tent reading, or grading papers if the weather is too bad to be doing that outdoors.

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

I just bought some new sheets and I hope they work the way they're supposed to:
Platform Bed - No Tuck Bed Sheets
The top sheet is sewn onto the fitted sheet and it's not supposed to pull out of the bedding.
When I receive them, I'll try them out and report back on the comfort and durability of the sheets, etc.
WoodGlue
I like that they carry full xl. My next purchase will be a full xl mattress and now I can get some sheets to match. Thanks for the link.

RE: Heard of this. Biolite campstove and electronics charger.

Biolite has teamed up with REI. At the REI website, you can get it with free shipping. I don't know if that extends beyond February. The new grill for the Biolite is available there, too.

RE: Starcraft AR-One...no bathroom sink?

My 14 ft has no bathroom sink - it does have a shower stall, toilet, and mirror. We always keep a rubbermaid/sterolite type basin in the kitchen sink for washing dishes. Food prep gets the stainless sink - I just think I can keep it more sanitary than a rubber basin. When teeth are brushed, spit goes in a cup and that is poured down the toilet, or else is teeth are brushed in the campground bathroom.
I am just happy that teeth are brushed.

RE: Portable Screen Rooms

I use the 4 man Coleman 10x10 pop-up tent & unzip all the windows.
If camping with electric, I could run a box fan if necessary, but I think at that point, we would just retire inside:) It affords better protection if it starts to rain than with using the10x10 Coleman pop-up canopy. It also doubles as an extra room, and as a storage shed for my little TT. And, it is lighter and packs up smaller than the pop-up canopy
I also put lightweight fabric shower curtains around the awning for more privacy which lets air gets through, but I can still stay outside.
Like the poster upthread, we have a little trailer so any extra room is great.
