RE: Another Weekend Warior Roof Issue

Interesting observations about the years/models with more issues. I have a 2006 LE and I haven't seen anything yet. But then again, I am always checking my seams for cracking and I have a covered parking spot. So being under cover and living in Phoenix, my trailer doesn't see much rain at all.
I have a buddy with a 2005 SLC and his entire rear cap separated.

RE: max weight loaded

Depends on where you're going. If I'm going to the desert, I'm going full. That means 165 gallons of water, 36 gallons of fuel, buggy, quad, fire wood and beer. Full load for me is 27,700 lbs down the road :D :D Too difficult to find a water fill point most of the time. You do realize that if you don't fill the fresh tanks with water untill you arrive where you are camping you have almost 1700lbs of cargo space?
Not many fill their tanks and lug around water from home. It's 8lbs per gallon and adds up real fast.
Ditto this. I always fill my water tanks and haul full water. I also 100% dry camp.

RE: diesel oil ???

One Auto Zone ran out, but they had a sale on Rotella this past 2 weeks, $9.99/gallon. I also do oil changes every 3000 miles, but I tow heavy and 90% of my miles are towing. I also get a Blackstone report done with each oil change and it always shows my viscosity is really low, like a 30W oil. So I won't go longer than 3000 miles on a change.
I won't go to synthetic. Oil is cheap, motors are not. I will stick with Dino and change it every 3000 miles. You could order Rotella on line and have it shipped to you. You can even get it in 5 gallon buckets and pump it out into containers.

RE: max weight loaded

Gotta go weigh it. Put all your camping gear in it, fill the fresh water and go weight it.
Take the GVWR - loaded weight and that tells you how much you can put in the cargo area.
Once you weight it, you can also tell if you are over your tire and/or axle ratings.
Weighing it is the only true way of determining what you can/can not put in it.

RE: How fast do you tow?

In CA I try to stay around 60 mph but in AZ, NV, UT I travel 70-75-80 mph- depending on speed limit and conditions.
All about the tires, conditions, and keeping a safe distance.
Me too
Me three.

RE: removable 5th wheel hitch

B&W all the way. You get a gooseneck setup as well as a 5th wheel hitch when you order the companion. The companion comes out in 2 pieces. 5 min to install/get out and you have 100% of your bed when you take it out.

RE: How do you get the Fifth wheel hitch out of your truck ?

With my B&W, pull 2 pins, take top piece out. Pull pin under by tire, lift bottom piece out. No sweat. 5min by myself.

RE: Tires for 2008 F-350

I have always had great luck (and mileage) with the OEM BFG Rugged Trail TAs on my F-350s.
Ditto this. I have these on my dually and at 31,000 miles on my current set, they are wearing great.

RE: New Tires From Discount Tire

Just be careful putting an aggressive tread tire on a triple axle trailer. On asphalt in a tight turn, you will get a lot of bite on the tires and a tire with alot of grab will put alot of stress on stuff.

RE: New Tires From Discount Tire

Yep, I think the Commerical TA is a very good tire. I would have no issues running those. A buddy of mine did it on his 18000lb toyhauler and never had any issues.
The Ribs probably wouldn't do good in snow with that tread design, it would fill the grooves up and act like you were on slicks.
I say go for the BFG.
Hope this helps.

RE: How long does your bulit in ONAN generator run on your

ONAN has ratings on their website for each genny.
Mine is a 5500W. Burns .7gal/hr at full load and .3gal/hr at 1/2 or no load.
This also depends on elevation.

RE: Fuzion 405 pulled by DMAX 2500 430hp SRW & Airlift 5000 bags

Theories are one thing, real life numbers are another.
I have CAT scale tickets showing my weights and showing pin weights going up even when loading toys in the back.
I have a tongue weight scale that shows with my old bumper pull and my buddies, the largest contributor to pin/tongue weight is water. Unless your water tanks are behind your axles, your pin/tongue weight is going to go up when you fill up with water and it doesn't matter what weight toys you put in the back, you won't drop the pin weight by that much.
Newer Warriors, 2007 and up, started putting the generators up in the front compartments, like where the batteries used to go. That will add even more pin weight than previous model years.

Flag will never get above freezing during the winter. I live in Phoenix and drive thru Flag to go to Page. When we go thru there, the snow on the ground is never melted. I think it is going to be colder than you realize.

RE: Fuzion 405 pulled by DMAX 2500 430hp SRW & Airlift 5000 bags

Thanks for the responses. I havent purchased anything yet. Went to the car lot today to check out the 03 dually truck, but it was in the transmission shop (not a good sign). Went to the RV store to check out the RVs and that didnt go to well either. Still looking for both now. So I am assuming my original budget of 15k to for a quad cab dually needs to be increased if I want to pull my ideal TH with a wet weight of roughly 16,000 lbs?
I dont mind to buy something older since this the dually will be used less then 5k miles a year, really dont want to dump 40k into a newer one now. Sorry to hijack the thread.
A Ford F350 with the Tow Boss package will be rated to tow a 16k lb trailer. A newer F450 will do it also. No other 1 ton dually on the market is rated to tow that much trailer. At least not in a crew cab, 4X4 setup.
You can get an older F450/F550 and it will be rated to tow that trailer.
Lincster thanks! 450 is not an option for now, if I decide to go with a 2 wheel drive dually instead of the 4x4 does that open my options more? Not too many 4x4 Towbosses on the market and none within my price range.
If you get a 2WD, regular cab dually, you might be able to stay within the tow ratings of the truck. Depends on the model and make of the truck. Like in 2005, Ford upped all of their tow ratings when they went to bigger brakes, different front end etc.

RE: Fuzion 405 pulled by DMAX 2500 430hp SRW & Airlift 5000 bags

Pin weight won't go down unless you put something really heavy in the back and no water in your tanks. My empty pin weight is 2700lbs. With my 2800lb sand rail in the back and 150 gallons of water, my pin weight goes up to 3400lbs.
