RE: A good RV repair place?

We use Cummins in Ocala. Never had a problem with them. We also use Alliance Coach in Wildwood. I would put reviews on www.rvservicereviews.com for those that didn't provide good service. I have put reviews on RV reviews already, except for the one that has coach now!

A good RV repair place?

I thought maybe I would find an honest, knowledgable, repair facility after purchasing a DP four years ago. I have had my coach at four different service facilities now and none have really been up to par! 1). One was supposed to replace the overheat temp sensor (black box) and gave me the RV back with the old box removed and wires hanging loose. They never installed the new one. I drove home and tried to turn it on, nothing. Then they sent a tech to the house to do it two days later. 2). Same place I had work done on my living room slide not opening properly(slow). Said it works fine. Got it back and left three days later to go to the Keys. Made a right turn after leaving the house and slide opened all the way up on its own. Almost caused a bad accident. Called them(Saturday) told me to bring it up to them (2 hours away) no apology no nothing. They never checked the hydraulic tank after troubleshooting and it was empty. 3). Same place again, went to pick up RV and there was a two foot long gouge on passenger side of coach down to the bare metal on trim rail. Their response was, it must have already been there. Freshly done by appearance.....had to leave coach for three weeks for them to repair damage. 4). Now DP at another facility(highly recommended) since the end of August. Still there because of an issue I didn't have when I left it there. I did tell the shop foreman they could take their time on it. But I needed it back the beginning of November for a planned trip. A/C compressor replaced/receiver dryer replaced/condenser motor replaced/serpentine belt replaced/water pump belt replaced/rear wheel seals replaced/thermostats replaced/ Now after they test drove the coach it overheat temp 225. Has never been over 210 in the four years since I purchased it. They now say it is a clogged radiator and want to remove it$$$ and send to a radiator shop to clean. During the removal called me in. Showed me some of the insulation that had came loose from above radiator and lodged between radiator and CAC, 95% sure that is the issue. Still no word in two more days and the weekend is here(21st). Supposed to leave 25th for Thanksgiving, not going to happen because of their time usage. I just want a service place that is honest, labor rates fair, have qualified mechanics that know what they are doing! Is there such a place or am I dreaming!

I posted a comment on this persons purchase late last night, the first one actually. Now my post is gone. Who takes these posts off. Is it because it makes CW look bad so the moderators have to remove it.

RE: Winnebago Tour 2008 40TD

A rear radiator would be a negative for me now after having one with a rear radiator coming out at CAT as we speak/ $$$$. Got to have at least three slides, 4 better. front slide out generator a must have. Aquahot and tile floors preferred. Bath and a 1/2 too.

RE: incontinence/bladder control

Well, this issue is one that has been currently happening with me for over a month. I have had the urge to urinate about every ten minutes. I am 61 and ok health. VA Dr. says that it is an enlarged prostate which is common at this age. Blood work good and the old bend over routine checked out ok....On two medications for 2 weeks now, both are for shrinking the prostate which can take a few months to a year to work...long time...or the other option is a urology consult.....roto-rooter time...think I'll wait on the meds to work...LOL!

RE: 10 y.o. DP expense budget

I don't think nearly $30,000 to do a ten year old coach. Mine is a 2001 Contessa by Beaver...42000 miles now. I have owned it 4 years now. Tires replaced - $3200 cooling unit norcold - $2000 all roof covers - 2 ac, frig, 2 vents - $300 recoat roof and reseal - $150 valve lash adjustment - $350 abs repair - $150 engine and gen service - for 3 years - $600 wheel seals, dash air, and thermostats, belts - $700 total $7350 in 4 years

RE: Old dog leaving calling cards

It happens, we have a 15 year old dachshund who likes to take a pee or a poo once in a while in the house or rv. Not too often but it happens. Guess we can't be too hard on him as he has cataracts, coughs, wobbles when he walks, and begs for food 24/7.......so we don't scold him anymore, we just let him know its an accident and all's ok. That's after he does it and his ears are already back....

dash a/c issues

Well, I finally decided after having our DP for almost four years to get the dash ac looked at again. When we first purchased it the dash air seemed ok, not freezing cold like my Cadillac but sufficient. Well, that lasted about three months. I took it to a service center to have it checked out. Tech said it's low on refrigerant, which I figured was going to be the answer. Well, a small leak was found at the servicing port, tightened it and serviced. Cold ac again, for what was a month....geez! Had the coach in a year later for CAT engine valve lash adjustment, and said check the dash ac out for me....They think there is a leak, low refrigerant again. Found a leaking fitting. I to;ld them to tighten it and hold off as I had a trip planned. Well, now it's in the shop for many things and took a gamble on checking the ac again: 1).found a leaking servicing port, replaced 2).then found a leaking chafed hose, replaced a section of hose and the other serving port(leak) 3).compressor not working right, won't take refrigerant. they replaced it and the receiver/dryer 4).next the condenser fan motor froze up,replaced it and the fan, also a switch bad. replaced.... 5). now waiting to get the latest update after two more days. There can't be many if any more parts to replace unless a line is clogged somewhere in the system, correct?

RE: running DP's durining quiet hours

When I travel I try to wait until quiet time is over in the am, but sometimes depending on where you are and where you are headed dictates what makes the most sense. Sometimes you have to leave a site earlier than after quiet time is over, so you can dump at a non sewer site, or because of knowing what the am traffic outside the campground is in early morning rush hour. That's the reality of it. We have to air up our suspension with the coach running and put the slides in, some running and some not. I don't think anyone intentionally intends to be rude(maybe a few %)I hate to have to leave earlier than quiet times but I have to do it so I do it as quick as possible.

RE: Motor home insurance

Don't skimp on coverage when you do get it. You may need to file a claim and end up in severe shortage.

RE: tire replacement

Brett has this answered correctly, many factors to check to make a good decision. You have a lot of weight riding on those tires so be safe.

RE: Onan Quiet Diesel 7500 consumption

I only use about 1/2 gallon an hour while running both roof airs and my refer while traveling with the same genset you have.

RE: OMG Camping World Service Dover Florida

I do most of my own work when I can, but if I have to take it in I never even consider Camping World for anything. I have seen way to much negativity to last a lifetime. It is too bad a Company that is that large just doesn't get it. It's all about the "Profit", and could care less about the service or proper repairs.
