RE: The Good, Bad, and Ugly

Abrister, you have told us about your deal twice, we get it, ok! I would have walked after the first stop and no one gave you a ride. The last place I went had a used DP on the lot, it sat there for three months. I asked if I could take a look at it, the sales guy got the keys and said have at it, you know more about them than I do......we spent over an hour looking at it before he came by. We decided to wait anyhow but thought he was quite honest.

RE: winguard sensar pro

I just recently installed a sensar pro in my 2001 Beaver coach. I have been having issues with my OTA antenna for a couple of months. I decided to replace the antenna with a winegard sensar 4 antenna ansd install the sensar pro with it. First issue I had was that I had a bad cable feed wire that had kinked where it enters the roof. I replaced the whole cable from the top fitting of the antenna into the coach. The sensar pro was mostly switching out the old winegard receptacle that had the 12 volt opening and a button to push for turning the antenna amplifier on. This was easy to do and the directions were quite good. The only issue I had was tracing all my tv cable wires and marking them as to what they were hooked up to. Yours may be just swapping out the three cable wires and a positive and negative wire for the amplifier. I went from receiving one channel to receiving 31 channels now. I love it. Wish I had done it sooner.

RE: Monoco Camelot 2008

Yes, I just replaced mine, it was doing the same thing. There are three plastic type bushings inside the motor that get worn down. I opened mine up and two were ground down to powder. The above post explains it. I matched the motor upon Amazon and ordered, had to switch the plug from my old one over to the new one as it was really an electric window motor...but same motor essentially, just cheaper

RE: Used DP, Miles vs Years

I agree with that......the couple we bought from had been separated then got back together again. She had the Beaver coach and while separated he bought a newer Monaco. They had to sell the Beaver as they were building a new home at the time. I offered way less than their asking price that was super high. At first they said no, but after a couple of days returned a call and agreed to my offer. It needed tires as soon as I picked it up, still original ones. And all the roof covers were old and brittle...it adds up quick with $$$$

RE: Shurflo water pump won't shut off..

If you have an outside shower be sure the valves are both off and not on with the shutoff pushed?

RE: Used DP, Miles vs Years

We bought thinking the same as you. We found a 2001 Beaver Contessa 40' with two slides and a CAT motor. We purchased it 4 years ago from a private seller. Mileage was at 31,000 so was still low. In the last four years we have had a few issues, but mostly just replacing the plastic vent covers, resealing the roof, chasing a few leaks, etc. When we bought it the tires were due changing which was our biggest expense of course. There are tons out there and it took us a year to find the right one. We are still happy with what we got...

RE: Toll Bridge going to Henderson State Park

Sometimes it is backed up at the toll booth all the way to 20,prior to going on the bridge across to Destin. If the toll area doesn't seem backed up it will be ok to cross there.

RE: Dinghy brakes or not?

Most states its the law to have a supplemental brake system. If you have to stop in a panic situation without it it may end up ugly! Personally I have one, a brake buddy!

RE: Trying to Replace Stereo

I just changed my rv stereo out and it had a clip on each side to push in to remove it......mine had a removable face plate to take off first. I replaced it with a nice flip screen made by BOSS stereos....$133 on Amazon.com. They make two clips for removing this Sony I had. But after searching I found two knives worked on the clips to remove it.

RE: Ten Year Rule

Our coach is going to be 16 years old in January and I could care less about this restriction. My coach is always under the 10 year rule regardless of how old it is. It even looks better than some out there 2-3 years old! I like COE's, State Parks, and every once in a while a regular RV park! I have no interest in a high end cocktail hour and bingo resort!

Carrying a Motorcycle on a DP

I am interested in getting a Harley Davidson motorcycle to haul behind my DP. Do they make a carrier that mounts above the towbar so you can flat tow your car and a bike. Not going to be a big bike, probably 5-6 hundred #'s.

RE: Why is the mirror vibrating so bad I can't see behind me?

I had to replace all the screws holding my mirrors on after a trip to Iowa three years ago. They worked loose on all the great highways we have across the country. I used stainless screws, large fifty cent size flat washers and lock washers. Their was no support to mount nuts on the fiberglass cap so I made up some from a tube made of aluminum and drilled the appropriate sized holes thru them.

Finding and labeling tv wires?

I have had problems with my OTA antenna picking up signals for stations. I just replaced the old 2001 antenna with a Winegard Sensar IV antenna. I am now installing a new signal locater inside and running into problems figuring out which coax is from what source. I guess I need a coax tester to find out? I have a front tv, a bedroom tv, a tv in a basement bin outside. I use a dish tailgater satellite for tv in front. I know behind the front tv there are at least 7-8 splitters with all kind of wiring coming and going. Do yo just track one wire at a time , get a signal and mark each one, then hook them up accordingly? Very confusing mess to sort through!
