RE: trading for bigger DP?

thanks for all the ideas, I haven't decided if I want to attempt to buy or not yet. I know mine is 6 years older but also know that everything is in great shape. Afraid of making the wrong decision.....and is 42-43 ft vs 40 ft gonna change the places I go to.?

trading for bigger DP?

Well, Today I saw an RV I really like. The one I have is great 2001 Beaver Contessa 40' double slide that's in super shape. Today I looked at a 2007 Holiday Rambler Imperial 43' 4 slides with 98000 miles. Price seems low to me compared to the book values and that baffles me. Asking $149,000 but books at 175,550 low retail. All I see at first look are the tires which are 3010 dated so good for 2 more years. I saw a very few spots on the paint bubbled, but very few. Haven't drove it yet or been on top to look, but everything I could check seems to work ok. All the bells and whistles, and 50,000 in upgrades when bought new. They have had it on the RV lot for 6-8 months now at $169,000. Just dropped the price yesterday to $149,000. What else should I be looking at for a deal on this coach....?

RE: Consignment...Seller won't budge off of asking price.

Buy it and enjoy driving it down the road. Sounds like a great coach and what you want! I purchased mine after negotiations with the owner. he had it priced way above book. I told him the price he had it at was 25000 over the book high price. He said his wife put it high to be able to come down some. I wrote down all I found wrong and what it would cost me after buying it: tires, cooling unit for frig,..... bought it 20,000 less finally after back and forth for weeks.

RE: GSRA - Let's get a balanced vote!!

I had them for three years, didn't need them so no real opinion. Based on comments I switched to Coach-Net!

RE: Would this treatment help on the black water tank

All I use is one of the blue pods and a little calgon after I dump the tank. Before use lots of water going #1 and #2 especially. Leave some water in the tank for the calgon and blue pod to swish around when on the road.

RE: Please don't do this

this is where a quadcopter comes in handy, hover the drone about a foot above the hitch and let the wife know when it's aligned, then let her know using the walkie talkie.

RE: Terrible Experience

This kind of treatment is so wrong. You would expect good service from GS but apparently not. I just changed to Coach-Net because of all the horror stories I have heard about Good Sam Roadside Assistance. I have not had to use GSRA services but decided it was time to change. I guess Marcus needs to reevaluate his Company and get it working like it should be.

RE: Maybe I should get an older DP

I have a 2001 40' DP. I don't get to travel much during the school year as I have a high school son at home. But in the summer we always take one 20-25 day trip of about 1500-2000 miles. Also we spend a lot of 3 day weekends and Spring Break away. Only four weeks a year would be tough on a DP I think. gas coach best plan, but the one you are waiting on I would move on and find another one.

RE: Maint./Repair $$ 10yr old DP

I purchased a 2001 Beaver Contessa 3 years ago with 32000 miles with a CAT 3126B engine. Maintenance wise I have changed all fluids, all the roof a/c, frig, vent covers replaced. I redid the coating on the roof after redoing the seams. New cooling unit on the Norcold 1200 LRIM, also had an air system installed for the jacks to replace the SMC IDS hydraulics that is obsolete almost. Also new Toyo tires when I purchased it. Guess I've put about $10,000 into it in three years but now have a solid, well built coach that has a lot of life left! Bought the coach for 28,000 less than what they wanted for it.

RE: Looking for a DP from PPL

In agreement with Brett, with consignment dealers you may find some good RV's, but many will be very used and very unkept. I never purchased from them at PPL but did email back and forth about some coaches when I was looking for the "ONE".... I found a private owned coach for the right price....

RE: Navarre Fl to Hudson Fl

I was stationed at Eglin for many years and traveled back and forth home to Clearwater. Best route I ever found was : 20 East to Bloxham Cutoff 267 South take 267 South to Hwy 98 East.... take 19 South when you get to Perry, Fl.....takes you right into Hudson and the Glass Place. Its about 6 - 6 1/2 hours at 60 MPH.....
