RE: Considering buying my first motorhome, and a little unsure

15K for a used Motorhome will be difficult. I'm not saying impossible but will take a while to find something halfway decent that doesn't need $$$ worth of work. Parts and labor rates are high and if you don't do maintenance yourself it can get expensive quickly. I would first start looking where they sell a lot of motorhomes, places like PPL, and others in Texas. There you can see their inventory and see if there are any around 15K. Check Craigslist in your area also.

RE: Camping World "Something big is coming soon"

They are going to pay real mechanic salaries to real mechanics to work on Rv's instead of minimum wage to non mechanics being represented as mechanics.

RE: Full Time RV-ing With A Teenager

We raised our two son's and then went fulltime. Two years later a family tragic event put us in a situation to become custodians of our 1 year old nephew and eventually adopted him. We sold the Class C and settled back down to raise him. Now here we are 15 years later, 5 grandkids and a 15 year old son who is a sophomore in high school. We have a 40" DP now and want to full time once again when he graduates high school and he is going to live with his Aunt and her daughter who is the same age as our son. We tried to get him to do his last three years on the road but he is set against it! Good luck whatever you decide to do!

RE: Converting to Air Levellers from Hydraulic

I had my 2001 Beaver coach that had an SMC hydraulic leveling system converted over to an air leveling system three years ago at the HWH factory in Moscow, Iowa. I had a hydraulic jack that was leaking internally and couldn't find anywhere to be able to rebuild the jack. I drove the coach to Iowa from Florida in July for a three day conversion. They removed the hydraulic jacks(these were jacks that leveled on top of the axel not the ground)and capped off the lines. My living room slide still uses the hydraulic pump to open and close the slide out. Then they installed another air compressor, control panel, air lines and fittings and custom made the wiring harnesses and installed to all the airbags. This was a 2 1/2 day custom job. Even the shop electrical and mechanical engineers were involved. It was a $4900 job.

RE: Stationary satellite for Dish network

Everyone I have talked with swears by the winegard traveler for dish. Not anywhere near $600. On sale now at Camping World for $1297. Another $300+ for installation. But its supposed to be a one button operation and you can add up to 4 receivers for 4 TV's.

RE: Trying to buy a motorhome

I went through this purchasing a DP 4 years ago. Private seller want way over what his RV was worth. I asked where he arrived at the selling price, guess that annoyed him. he was over NADA about 17000 bucks. He said that the price was altered due to modifications and upgrades they had done. After all was said and done, and with him saying no way several times, We bought for cash 27000 below his asking price. We used the same bank so we met at local bank near him, I gave up part in cash and transferred the rest to his account. Bank manager did a bill of sale notarized and also helped with filling out title of coach.

RE: Towing Cadillac SRX: Braking wires thru firewall?

I have a 2012 SRX and could not find a suitable place to run the breakaway wires for my brake buddy so ran along the driver side of engine compartment and thru the fender well at top by battery and down the door frame to inside by floor. For the 12 volt power I ran an extension wire from the plug in the rear compartment(always hot) to the plug for the brake buddy.

RE: Millie has passed...

So sorry for your loss of Millie. She is so beautiful. We lost our 16 year old Daschund Jack a few months ago and we still have not gotten over it. We love our pets as much as our children. The memories are great to have ....

RE: Is the 'Beaver' back in Oregon??

I am so happy that the Beaver coach will be built again. We have a 2001 Beaver Contessa DP that we purchased 4 years ago. It is in super shape and only has 43000 miles on the odometer. A new one will be way out of my budget I'm afraid, but happy for Ty.

RE: Home domicile and insurance for full timing

Overland Insurance in Queen Creek, AZ writes full timer policies for Fl residents. Call (800)677-4027 and ask for Ron Jarvie. They will do a policy with National interstate.

RE: house batteries

I recently changed my Trojan T-105 house batteries(4) out as they were getting way too hot during charging, and boiling off the water quickly. I bought new T-105 Trojans at my local golf cart store for $87 each. I know that they were 6 years old when I replaced them.
