RE: '07 Cadillac SRX?

I have a 2012 SRX front wheel drive that is towable 4 down. I believe from 2010 till 2016 are all towable 4 wheel down. Four wheel drive and front wheel drive both. In 2017 they came out with the XT-5 to replace the SRX and it is not towable due to a newly designed 8 speed transmission.

Diesel Pusher Air Filter change

I was wondering how to really know when to change an air filter on a CAT engine. I have the vacuum gauge that is supposed to give you the info but how reliable are they? The filter for my engine is a large canister that has to be changed out but its more awkward to do than hard. I can remove the lower hose and visibly see it but that doesn't tell me anything!

RE: Thoughts of this dealers policy on possible purchase.

Way to many dealers out there that will work with you and sell you a good motor home. Don't buy from a dealer that makes all the rules, and wants a big upfront nonrefundable deposit.

RE: Ready 4 full timing, but theft has me worried the most!

Here's a hard-core reality check? You have your entire "world" in your motor home. I mean, all those expensive guns, ammunition, your ATV's, your toys, your cash, your bank account information, your credit cards, your clothes, your food, photos of your family, computers, .... EVERYTHING! And then you are in a wreck on the road and the motor home flips over, catches fire and burns to the ground? The reality of THAT happening is higher than theft any day! That's why we all carry insurance on everything. You said you didn't want to hear it, but you really do not need all that "stuff" which is controlling your world. If you want to be "free" then get rid of it and get back to basics. The best thing that every happened to me was the year 1982. I had accumulated a LOT of stuff. I was a bachelor, successful, and money, lots of possessions, lots of toys, and living a good life. BUT, the house I lived in had no insurance, I had no insurance. I thought I'd never need it. Then the house caught fire, burned completely down. I escaped the house with a blanket wrapped around me, and my underware on. That was it. My car was saved and I rescued my motorcycle, but my billfold and all my keys went up with the house. There I stood in the front yard, barefoot in 2 feet of snow with a blanket wrapped around me with nothing on but my underware watching my world go up in smoke! A friend took me in for a few days. I was in shock, but then a harsh reality hit me! I was materialistic FREE of everything in this world. I had nothing tying me to anything. A few weeks later, I was in Basic Training in the Army. I boarded that bus with only the cloths on my back and a tooth brush. That was 36 years ago, and I've been materalistic "free" (in my heart) ever since. I now have 2 kids, 5 grand kids, a beautiful home, a great travel trailer, a good job, a wonder life. But If I lost all my material possessions right now, and found myself standing in the snow barefoot naked again, I'd just regroup, and start all over! It's just "stuff". If you can somehow get that into your heart, your life will be much more free. You described it all very well, I read what you wrote twice as it was very interesting. I am the same way, retired Air Force and we are emptying the house right now to go full time in June! We are both in our 60's but I agree its just stuff. My wife is concerned more of a severe medical event for either of us. But I told her it's the same in the house. Thanks for explaining it so well!

RE: Insurance carriers

The 'bus' insurance market is getting very limited. National Interstate stopped covering the bus market. We were able to secure a policy with Safeco. Since the value of the coach has gone down, our policy premium went down some, full coverage, $1K diminishing deductible. Safe travels, MM.Does Safeco cover full time policies?

RE: Safe method of financial transaction at sale time

We bought a coach from a private party. They banked at the same bank as us. I took some cash to them as they requested, and met them at the bank.Their bank had my bank wire the rest to their account. Their bank drafted a bill of sale and notarized it for us. We were both comfortable doing it this way. They had the title and signed it over to us and we went back to their place and drove it home.

RE: Warning - Perry GA Wally

RV'ers do that to themselves with Wal Mart. If I owned a store like Wal Mart, I wouldn't want a 'gypsy caravan' of RV squatters occupying my lot either. One. they are pigs and two, it is private property. People wore out the welcome all by themselves. You probably wouldn't want any RV's over 10 years old in "your" Park either judging by your Walmart comments.

We looked at a few Mandalays but weren't impressed with the build quality.

RE: Help me decide, take it or leave it

If you are on this forum questioning it I would walk away. Too many other deals out there to be second guessing the issues you may have.

RE: Buying recliner from RecPro

We just recently bought a recliner set of two with the console between. Haven't had long enough to evaluate for wear but quality seems good. Comfortable and material seems fine. Shipped same day we ordered and arrived packaged well in three cartons. Time will tell I guess.

RE: Used class A pricing

Just remember that a brand new one may be 30%-40% off MSRP but then you have the usual issues that all the new ones have leaving it at the shop for repairs. If thats not a problem go new. If you want to save on a great barely used one with all the bugs fixed and be able to take off right away, get with Dave Lester on Facebook. Pay him to do your appraisal when you find the perfect used Class A.

RE: Best brands/models, early 2000s. Class A Diesel

Pre 2000 Beaver coaches were built well and may work with your price area. We purchased a 2001 Beaver 6 years ago with low mileage and great condition for 60+. But now 30-35K may get you one.

RE: Extended Service Plan for older Class A

take to money and put it in a maintenance account. Thats how I do it. Then when the need arises I pull money from there for repairs. I also carry one low interest credit card with no balance and credit amount of $10K for any huge issues.

RE: Quikee Step problem

gears inside the motor have hard plastic vibration disintegrate. Probably need a new motor. Match it up on Amazon to get a cheaper price.

RE: Hi

We bought an older Beaver 6 years ago. I replaced ton's of things to have everything updated. Still a great coach and no payments. We are selling our place and going full time in June of this year! Good luck in your endeavors.
