RE: Experience at Snider Tire

I understand your frustrations. i have n several different facilities to have my diesel pusher worked on, some with the advice from others as to how good a place was for them. Then I go in and have some issues, I guess you never know. One thing I won't tolerate is being flat lied to and then catch a manager in that lie. That is unacceptable to me. The way I see it, if you screw up or install something wrong, at least own up to it. Don't try to cover up your mistake by telling me it was another problem instead of what they installed wrong to start with.

RE: Reliability in purchasing older diesel A

We bought a 2001 Beaver 5 years ago. The quality was there and solid wood. Made like a tank. Looking at many of the entry level DP's today and they are very cheaply made and going to have longevity issues. We are happy with what we have.

RE: 2014 GMC Terrain - four down?

I would use a braking system. No, the speedometer doesnt rack up mileage when towing.

RE: Noisy roof AC

I just recently had the original 2001 noisy pain in the butt front dometic unit changed out in our DP. We bought the RV 5 years ago but the front a/c had a loud irritating noise. It cooled well so let it go. The compressor finally quit so it had to be changed. The irritating noise is now gone but it is still loud running.Just the way it is. Mine is a ducted unit.

RE: Fridge issue

If its a Norcold it takes a while for the frig to cool down. But mine is quite old though. The freezer always gets cold before the frig.

RE: AC working but shutting off

Sounds like a thermostat issue to me.

RE: Full Timing It

We spent two years searching for the older DP that fit our budget and needs. We ended up buying a 2001 Beaver 40' DP with a CAT motor 5 years ago. It had 33000 miles then and 46000 now. For us it is a perfect fit, no payments and a good solid coach for under $70,000.

RE: Changing transmission fluid

I changed mine out myself and it was quite easily done. Be careful when you install the new filters that you correctly torque the bolts down to the proper torque values.

RE: Onan 7500 7.5hdkaj11451h

Are you sure you put the right amount of oil in it. If it is low that is what happens with it shutting down?

RE: Tool boxes that full timers carry

I am not full time for another year but have set up my tool box, fluids, and spare parts bin already. I carry all the basic stuff: vise grips, pliers, several screwdrivers(flat and Phillips), open end and closed wrenches of all sizes, hammers, ratchets and all size sockets.

RE: Tailgater signal levels

I never worry about signal levels. I use an app for setting the tailgater so it is clearly lined up due south. If it goes through the scan ok then thats all that is needed.

RE: Sewer Hose Cleaning and Storing

I drain the gray water last and cap the hose on both ends and set in my storage bin...

RE: Coleman Mach 3 AC replacement

I just had my original 2001 13500 btu Dometic A/C upper unit replaced a week ago. I just got out of the hospital prior so there was no way I could get one up there. The mobile guy I always use ordered it and came out 4 days later to install it. Him, Wife and son did the install in 30 minutes. The compressor finally went out. $1000 for parts labor and tax.

RE: service engine soon light

Thats just one of the causes of the "engine warning light" coming on. It's the cheapest reason though so thats a good thing.

RE: Electric awning on Tiffin Allegro Bus

I haven't had that happen to me but have heard of it. The gears on most are plastic and strip out causing the awning to fall out. Are you talking about the extended warranty not covering it?

RE: Replacing roof A/C unit

I just had my Dometic unit replaced as it had quit. Bad compressor. Only the upper unit had to be replaced. I had a mobile RV service come out to do it.

RE: New Tiffin policy

RV repair facilities have been in bad shape for several years. Way too much demand for what is available. I have a superb Mobile Company I use. Plus I do almost all repairs myself to this point. I have had my DP in two referred shops only to have issues at both. Either they have your RV sit forever waiting in line, or don't get things fixed correctly making a return visit again likely. The more people purchase RV's the worse this will get, just not enough qualified repair shops for all the newer coaches with issues.
