RE: Coleman Mach 3 AC replacement

I just had my original 2001 13500 btu Dometic A/C upper unit replaced a week ago. I just got out of the hospital prior so there was no way I could get one up there. The mobile guy I always use ordered it and came out 4 days later to install it. Him, Wife and son did the install in 30 minutes. The compressor finally went out. $1000 for parts labor and tax.

RE: service engine soon light

Thats just one of the causes of the "engine warning light" coming on. It's the cheapest reason though so thats a good thing.

RE: Electric awning on Tiffin Allegro Bus

I haven't had that happen to me but have heard of it. The gears on most are plastic and strip out causing the awning to fall out. Are you talking about the extended warranty not covering it?

RE: Replacing roof A/C unit

I just had my Dometic unit replaced as it had quit. Bad compressor. Only the upper unit had to be replaced. I had a mobile RV service come out to do it.

RE: New Tiffin policy

RV repair facilities have been in bad shape for several years. Way too much demand for what is available. I have a superb Mobile Company I use. Plus I do almost all repairs myself to this point. I have had my DP in two referred shops only to have issues at both. Either they have your RV sit forever waiting in line, or don't get things fixed correctly making a return visit again likely. The more people purchase RV's the worse this will get, just not enough qualified repair shops for all the newer coaches with issues.

RE: 16 oz propane refill

I do my own refills. I bought a valve from "shnozzle" that does just that.I hook the valve up to my propane grill tank 30#, get the 16 oz empty bottle ice cold in the freezer. Hook the ice cold empty to the fitting on the bigger outside temp tank it fills it. I have had no issues doing it this way.

RE: Mobile Repair - Positive or Negative?

Either a mobile rv tech or even a good friend you have that does his own work and is quite knowledgeable can assist. I bought ours from a private seller and I went over his myself for a few hours before making an offer. The owner was fine with that and left me alone to do it.

RE: ac replacement

I just replaced my front Dometic AC 13500 btu with the same but upgraded newer unit. The one that was replaced was the original one from 2001. I have a ducted two air system. I had a Mobile guy come out and install it as I just had surgery and couldn't lift. Total price was $1100 installed. It took three of them 30 minutes to do it. The old one had an annoying rumbling sound but the new one is some quieter but still loud with the tv on.

RE: 95 or 295 Jacksonville?

Mid morning run I would stay on 95. If 7-9 am I would hit the bypass.

RE: How long to leak down your air system?

You should be ok with that timeframe.

RE: New to RV world...am stressing out.

I am in Florida and depending on where this RV is I would take a look at it before you fly down. I am not a certified RV mechanic by no means but own a 2001 Beaver DP and do all my own maintenance from oils, to transmission filters and fluids and about everything else. Or I would help you out getting it to a shop if needed. Not a scam ,just an rv'er who tries to help anyone that needs help....

RE: There is a Standard Wire Color Code...

Most of the wires on my Beaver DP are white, but each wire is labeled what it is for.....takes some good eyes, not mine to read some of them!

RE: Dogbone Melted

I have heard of these Camco ends shorting but have not seen one until yours. I started putting a plastic bag loosely over my connections to keep dampness and rain away from the connection point.

RE: Norcold fridge hi temp limit swirch

Glad you got it fixed for almost free. I had the same thing happen a year ago and the RV Mobile guy told me what to do over the phone. It was a holiday weekend and he was going fishing.

RE: Phaeton Motorhome

this is a well sought after coach with good reviews. I think that the asking price is too high based on many similar coaches the same year. I would be thinking more in the 110-115 range. But other than that a good coach.
