RE: Dead mouse or something: How to find?

I had a bad stink in my Dodge Dakota. I ended up having to take the lower dash apart and reaching into the fan blower area, and pulled out a dead flat mouse and a complete 3 inch long snake skin. Nasty but been fine since....good luck...

RE: RV show blues

Well. We can go to Lazy Days in Tampa and look at all kinds of RV's. From popups to Class B, Class, C, DP, Gas, fifth wheels, Buses, travel trailers and spend all day long. No traffic, no over rated food costs, and no lines. Everyday, weekends and most Holidays for free.....dont even have to argue with the salespeople, unless you find that part interesting!

RE: Wiring a DP for towing a toad

Got it straightened out, I removed everything and started from scratch. Should have done that from the start I guess. I found that the tail light wire was hooked up with the ground wires for who knows why. Now I have it all hooked up with a lot less coiled up unneeded wire. Looks more professional now and everything works as required finally.

Wiring a DP for towing a toad

I have been having issues with my wiring on my 2001 diesel pusher for the plug for towing a vehicle. I have to use a 3 to 2 wiring converter as the coach has separate turn and brake lights and the 2012 Cadillac SRX has single brake and turn led lights. As soon as I think it is correct I have an issue with the lights not working once again. The 3 to 2 converters are going bad. Now I have just replaced one again and am having issues doing the wiring and getting it working right. I know the car is correctly wired as a tech has rechecked it with me and said it is right and its a wiring issue with the RV. Where do I start to figure it out?

RE: Boy, Do I Miss Ful-timing

All the best to you Mr ED! We have been RV'ers since 1998. Prior to that we lived on a boat for a few years. We are getting prepared to full time, as both of us have some health issues. Trying to keep up with our home and an RV is too much on us now....We are both in our sixtys and ready for the road. Hopefully you will be able to travel once again/

RE: Overnight Flying J

I have stayed at a few Flying J's. Some had RV areas and some didn't. At one we stopped a bit early and the lot was almost empty, I'm talking a lot big enough for 150 trucks. I managed to swing wide and park fairly straight with the toad attached. We walked to the Dennys attached, ate and went back and went to bed. The next morning at about 7 am I looked outside and trucks solid in the lot. It was crazy full. I did not hear a thing.....but my hearing is quite bad......

I dont have a 5th wheel but 5 years into our 40' Beaver DP and its a 2001. 16 years old and going strong, have I spent money on it, yes, will I have to spend more, yes...but better than a $1000^ payment and maintain too!

Onan 7500QD generator 1000 hour service

Well, after buying our DP 5 years ago I've finally reached the 1000 hour service due on the Onan Generator. It had 688 hours on it when we bought it. Never have had any issues with it though. I have changed the oil, filter every year, replaced the coolant once, and the fuel filter every two years. Also the air cleaner filter every two years. Cummins Ocala just quoted me $1095 for removal, service(replace belt, all hoses and clamps, new radiator cap, oils, filters, and bench run....reinstall and operational check in coach. Guess thats not bad considering it will go another 1000 hours before its due again.

A new way to get around a campground!

I have been looking for a rideable electric vehicle for a while now and finally found it. Its called an URB-E electric bike. You can see them at URB-E.com. They are made in Pasadena,CA. They weigh 35 lbs, go twenty miles on a full charge and have a top speed of 15mph! It takes four hours to charge completely from dead on a standard 120v plug. They have a few models to choose from and many choices of colors and inserts to make it your own. They are made from aircraft grade aluminum and carbon fiber for long lasting durability.

RE: Guide to buying a used diesel Class A on a small budget!

Great info for the most part. We havent ventured out of Florida except for a few times yet. We have a 40' 2 slideout Beaver DP. We mostly stay at State Parks and have had zero issues at 40' in length. I know that National Parks are going to be more stay down the road and visit during the days, which is fine with us. We shopped the State of Florida for over a year looking for the right coach at the right price. It was easy when I let the wife look when we first drove up to many and she had already said in her silent voice, no way. Then if the outside was ok, it then meant for her to enter first and give me that look, you guys know the one. The why are we even in here right now. After doing this for a year and many tanks of gas, and traveling around Florida more than once, she finally said, as we pulled in the field, this is the one. She looked over the outside and loved the condition. Then she asked to see inside. I thought oh boy, here we go again! Much to my surprise, she said I want it. I whispered to her out of the owners hearing me, dont act so happy, lets get the price down first! Well, they wanted a lot more than we were even thinking of spending for a 2001 or any year coach for that matter. We were about 28000 apart in the price. We decided to sit in the car and discuss it for a bit.....then I said lets try every thing out, check the roof out and the tires. It needed tires....think they were originals, oh my.....2001 to 2012 oh no! Well, I had the owner drive me as I wasnt going to be driving on those tires and get a blowout before I own it. It was a good test ride, then I decided to make an offer, boy were they defensive, well at first. I explained that 1).all six tires were way beyond replacement years - $4000, the refrigerator would not work, #2000-$3000, so on. I offered $67 and after a few minutes a handshake was made. No down payment, a handshake and a date to finalize the sale. They are out there, but dont hurry and dont give in too early! Its still a huge investment even if its not a $250-$500 thousand dollar coach!
