RE: 11th ANNUAL FRIENDS OF OCEANO DUNES CRAB FEED!

put it on the calendar. went a couple of years ago, and have been trying each year to make it back, but it always seems like bad timing. Will try again this year.

RE: Chrysler says 2013 Ram 3500 can tow 30,000 pounds

I for one will welcome these new Dodge trucks. I'd love to have a viable option to compare when I go to get a new truck. I think Dodge is really moving in the right direction these days - their cars and trucks look good.

RE: Chrysler says 2013 Ram 3500 can tow 30,000 pounds

Yeah that's a really pi$$ poor (no pun) location for the GM tank. It looks hideous and opening the hood to fill it sounds like fun with the size of these trucks now days. Maybe they will relocate it in 2013-14. They should have put it with the fuel tank like ford so you lose 10 gal of fuel capacity the. Read hundreds of more posts of people dumping def in the fuel tank. Yeah that's a great idea. :R anyone stupid enough to put DEF in the fuel tank or vise/versa on a Ford should RUN to a GM dealer and solve all their problems

RE: Michelin XPS rib or Goodyear G614

I've ran the R250's on my hauler for a couple years now - they are awesome. I can't even tell they have any miles on them. I'll have them on my next hauler as well.

RE: #1 rule, hands in RZR at all times. WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTOS

Ouch - that brings back memories. its all fun and games till the doctor says to you - "I'm going to do my best to save your arm" that may be the scariest thing ever said to me. are they still charging about 10 grand per titanium screw ? Good luck on the recovery.

RE: Repairing fuel station pump

my pump froze up again this weekend. I've sanded the gears before when it happened. did the same thing this time and its running like a champ again. I just use some 180 grit on a flat surface and do it by hand in a figure 8. you need to be really careful using a belt sander.

RE: Assembly Bill 1595: CA law change affecting OHV riders

STILL - I want to know who our supposed "representatives" are representing. They sure as hell aren't representing my beliefs and or values.

RE: Items ordered and not used in your toy hauler

see if you can get an additional gray tank. I don't know of any toy hauler out there that has a big enough gray tank. some of these rigs carry 200 gallons of fresh and then put a 50 gallon gray - that makes a lot of sense - almost as much sense as having the same size black as gray.....

RE: How many people have lost their camping "group"?

JV is fun spot, Spangler is really fun. Here's what I know, it doesn't matter where you pick, you'll have a handful that will say its too far. I know with the price of fuel these days, people need to make choices. I'm fortunate that I don't let fuel or distance stop me from a trip, the only thing that will limit me is time. I plan on hitting: JV Rasor Dumont Ocotillo Wells Glamis Spangler and even Gorman at least once this season.

RE: How many people have lost their camping "group"?

There's enough SOCAL people on here ... someone should take charge.. organize a trip There will be several coming up soon. After Labor Day is when the season really starts getting rolling. I will do a better job of posting our trips on this site, we will see if it generates any interest.

RE: More Stupidity

When I first looked I thought it was a Ford too, but it is really hard to tell with all that smoke. The back appears to slope like a Blazer/S-10. Don't think the Expy does that, but unsure. I grabbed a few shots from the video - I'm sure one of us can ID the thing. It appears to have a roofrack built in too. Sorry for the small size but if I make it bigger it will be too distorted. http://www.hanover1.net/files/miscfiles/TV1.JPG http://www.hanover1.net/files/miscfiles/TV2.JPG http://www.hanover1.net/files/miscfiles/TV3.JPG Wow, I'm amazed at the work you did to get to the bottom of this. Bottom line, it was way too little tow vehicle for the job.

RE: More Stupidity

I second that, looked like an expedition - no way in hell should it have been towing anything near that big. Just because you can pull it, doesn't mean you should.

AGW Location -----> TBD Wether or not i can bring our hauler, I was told no Good news, i can bring truck, flatbed.and rhino Bad news, i must act my age and not hurt myself...no.dirtbike I think Buford has a contraption that you put on the back of your truck and can camp in - after his last trip with it, he might sell it cheap. As for the O.P.'s question - I have been involved with 2 groups in So-Cal. I was really involved with one, but as it grew (and probably peaked a couple of years ago), there became a turn of hidden forums and privileged inner circles. At that point I decided to leave that group and concentrate on camping with the other group that doesn't play those games. I think others may have made the same decision as well. I miss some of the people from the old group, and still camp with some at times, but my overall outlook is better now. My wife and I are highly motivated about camping, and I'd go almost every weekend if I could. We plan on purchasing a new hauler this next year and camp even more. I know there are a lot of people in So-Cal that I've never met or camped with, its a shame that when something like the beach blast or Strappy's AGW comes around that we don't have a better turnout from the people on this board. I'm already planning our winter schedule. We take a full week off at Thanksgiving and spend it in the dez. We take from Christmas to New Years off and spend it in the dez. Plus various 2 and 3 day weekends here and there. I know I don't do a good job about posting trips on this board, and that probably comes from the fact that like the beach blast and AGW, not many attempt to make it - hopefully that can change and we can go camp and have great time.

RE: Duramax or Cummins 100k + miles

between the two mentioned, its kinda a toss up. I wouldn't trust the Allison over 100K miles, but the 4 speed Dodge is no better. If I had to choose between the two, I'd find an older dodge with a stick - the truck will fall apart before the powertrain will let you down. good luck with whatever you choose. If your willing to expand your horizons, you might look for a 2003 Ford with the 7.3 - it will be well worth the look.
