RE: I'm Sleeping on the Ceiling Tonight

Research shows names for groups of snakes as nest, bed, den, or knot.

RE: Bottle Jack Size?

I use a 6 ton bottle jack and like mentioned use the screw to get just below the axle and jack it from there. Works great, twice on the highway and multiple times in the driveway.

RE: OHIO RALLY GROUP 2013 SCHEDULE

How about having a group trip to Alaska?
How late is too late to attend the Fall Rally? We are heading out that way but not sure we will be able to travel from AK to OH that quickly. We are not sure how soon we can leave here.
Just a suggestion but what if we start posting ideas of where to go or doing something completely different like exploring Kentucky, Tennessee, or ???? Maybe someone volunteering the open vacation format that Dan used when many visited the UP of MI and out west.
I don't really have any ideas to get out of the box with but I do plan to go back to Anne Osborn and watch freighters float by sometime in July August or Last weekend in July at the Coast Guard festival in Grand Haven, MI.

The Fall Rally is at Cardinal Center Campground. You'll want to contact Jenna at 419-253-0800. It's the campground's Halloween campout with many activities and it fills up fast.
It would be great to see you!

RE: Myrtle Beach Travel Park?

The cabins our friends rented about 7 years ago were modulars on blocks with decks. They now also rent permanent travel trailers. I think they were about 30 feet.
The one I was in was clean and in good repair.

RE: Myrtle Beach Travel Park?

Dog friendly, typical rules about cleaning up after your pet, keep on a leash, and not allowed in buildings.
In the summer dogs aren't allowed on the beach between 8am and 5pm.

RE: Myrtle Beach Travel Park?

It's the only place in MB that we camp. In addition to the above comments they have a security guard at the gate and motorcycles must park outside the gate.
The sites aren't huge but you get a small shelter over your picnic table at each site if you're in the area between the pools and the beach.
They get busy in the summer but we still enjoy it. Try the Breakfast by the Sea restaurant in the CG for all you can eat fish on Friday nights.

RE: Camp Hatteras N. Carolina Outer Banks

We take US 33 from central OH to I-77 south to Beckley WV.
Then I-64 east to Newport News VA, then I-664 south back to I-64 to VA 168 into NC and then it meets NC 158 into Kitty Hawk.
The bridge into Kitty Hawk can be a parking lot on Fridays. I learned to be in that area very early in the AM, before sunrise. From Nags Head follow 12 to the campground.
You will start seeing directional signs around Newport News VA saying "Outer Banks". Then after the bridge into Kitty Hawk start looking for signs saying "Hatteras".
After crossing the bridge you'll see a super Walmart on the right, then in about a half mile after the road turns south (right) you'll see a great visitor center. Stop there to get brochures and lots of printed materials about the area.
Recommended sightseeing includes The Wright Brothers Memorial, Ft. Raleigh N.H.S. (in Manteo), Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Oregon Inlet marina, and Ocracoke museum and lighthouse. The ferry to Ocracoke is free but can have an hour wait during the summer.
We always eat at the second story restaurant at Pirates Cove (near Manteo) for the food and the view and then walk downstairs to look at the yachts and fishing boats.
Through the years restaurants come and go and quality improves and declines so be sure to ask a local when you check in at the campground about good eats.

RE: Camp Hatteras N. Carolina Outer Banks

When you check in, the Camp Hatteras office has a lot of info on local activities.
Keep in mind you are 20 minutes south of southern Nags Head areas and the drive is a two lane road. You are camping on a National Seashore.
Plan to attend the Wright Brothers Memorial and see the Ranger presentation at the full size replica of the "flyer" including a Q & A after, very interesting. You can then walk to the exact areas where the first 4 flights occured and see the reconstructed hangar and shop areas used for the flights.

RE: Anyone hear numbers on GMs new truck engines yet ??

Went to the Columbus(OH) Auto Show yesterday and the 2014 Chevy 1500 was there and the presenter stated the engines offered were the 4.3, 5.3, and 6.2 all with direct injection and aluminum blocks.
Some light cosmetic changes including a chrome grille bar with the centered bowtie backed up by a black grille. The headlights were stacked and squared, looked good!

RE: Nicest/best built 5th Wheels??

Hey Woodglue, I am interested in the Bay Hill 5th wheels. But there is very little info on the Evergreen website on how they are made. No construction cut-away. No construction video. Do you know who makes their frames. Any info would be appreciated.

Brake controllers ???

We are looking at replacing our brake controller, it's a Drawtite Activator II. It works great, most of the time, but sometimes doesn't work at all. It's in an '06 Duramax.
I had our local trailer guru look at it, he got it working and said to use it and let him know if it fails.
We see prices for new ones from $50-150. Why the great difference?
