RE: Bedroom Slide...Full Timer

Jacks? Did you have those slide jacks under the slide? I watched a fifth wheel owner lament that he had used slide jacks on his main slide and then had a tire valve blow out while sitting there and the tire went flat. The fifth wheel only dropped maybe 2 inchs. Now the slide jacks were trying to hold up the camper and caused the slide to "rack" in it's frame. Money, money, money to repair. Slides are engineered to hang out there without any help at all and I would never use slide jacks. Perhaps you may have shared the same experience?

RE: Lippert Leveling System 4 point

Have the same system and never could get the "auto" to work properly. The manual procedure I use is to lower the rear jacks until they just touch. Then level front to back using the front jacks. Never want the rear tires off the ground. don't worry so much about the front wheels. Then level side to side. I put a spirit level on the kitchen counter and the DW lets me know when we are level. Final check is the bath door. If it don't swing on it's own...we are level enough! Carry lots of wood blocks. If I can't get it level that way because the ground is sloped higher in the front then the back....well, I just move on.

RE: Trip to Charlotte Nc

Me thinks that you will head north to go to Charlotte if you are in Fl. Yes, you will need to cross the Smokies if then heading to the midwest. No problems though.

RE: RV Parks and Salt Spray Exposure

I've lived most all of my adult life next to an ocean. (26 yrs in the US Navy) I used the "fresh water washdown" frequently for cars and rvs. Never had problems. MUCH LESS PROBLEMS than the road salt used up north.

RE: To unhook or not

I think you will find that the toad will really track right behind the coach. If the coach can make it out, then the toad will as well. If you are towing four down then it is even easier because it will track well within the coaches track and not cut any corners. The tail swing of the coach worries me more than the toad. The only thing I will not do is try to back up while towing four down. Thousands of miles...no problems. Just look for an escape route prior to commiting. I try to use end pumps if available.

RE: Saw this, not sure what category it would fit in???

It's a SH-3 helo. Got around 600 hours of flight time in these things back in the '70s flying "starboard deltas" off a carrier. I was a SAR pup!

RE: Base Plate For 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Have a Roadmaster setup. Not hard to install and minimal cutting of plastic facia under the bumper.

RE: Gas Engine Power

The 7% grades in the Smokies are no problem with the rig identified in our signiture. Have not tried the mountains out west yet but are on the way with confidence. And the major fuel stops have always had pumps that can be navigated while towing.

RE: First Aid Kit

Six Pack of frosty malt beverage. Cures most everything. Just kidding. Bought a first aid kit from a local CVS drug store. Got one with an assortment of band-aids, salves, lotions and various large bandages. Having been trained in basic first aid we have a kit that is used to maintain life and limb until appropriate medical help can arrive.

RE: I-95 tolls in FL

We make this trip often, have to get our "Key West Fix". Did the I95 straight thru one time. NEVER AGAIN! Don't care how much it costs. We always stay at Jonathon Dickison State Park and hop onto the Turnpike there when going down, then stay there when we return to Jacksonville. I think our tolls that were mailed to us totaled about $25 from our last trip in July. We were towing a toad four down.

RE: Great Smoky Mountains Vacation

We've stayed at Twin Creek just outside Gatlinburg. Kinda pricey but well maintained and the trolly stops right at the entrance and that will give you easy access (as in you don't need to drive and find parking!) to all of Gatliburg, Pigeon Forge, Dollywood and everything in between.

RE: Replacing the Couch

Sure did. Found a "Home Theater" recliner set that came apart into 5 pieces. They are out there! The hardest part was getting the old out the door!

Look at the Georgetown 378TS. This floorplan worked best for us because we do watch alot of TV. We also replaced the Georgetown couch and eurochair and replaced with a two seat reclining theater seating.

Get a Trucker's Atlas at a truck stop. We will "plot" a course using google maps and the GPS, but then verify with our Trucker's atlas. Never been led down the wrong path.

RE: not miles per gallon, but gallons per week

Well I found the best way is to fill up more often that way you don't put as much in the tank and the bill is a lot less per fill-up.
Try filling up with the gage at 3/4 tank instead of 1/2 or less and notice the reduction in your fuel bill with each fill-up.
?????...Don't understand. Still costs you the same over time. Your methode doesn't hurt as bad, but, it hurts more often.
