RE: Zion National Park; where to stay?

Yep Watchman along the river if you can get a spot. Water in the loop but not at each site, dump station, some sites electric, shade along the river and the sounds of running water...WONDERFUL. South campground, dry camping and first come first serve. Just outside the park in Springdale is Zion Canyon Campground, Not Zion River (Zion River about 20 miles outside the park) very nice FH and a nice pool but for me to far away from the park. We just stayed Oct 18th-25th in Zion Canyon FH all gravel spots with little grass but Showers and some spots on the Virgin river depending on the rig size. We really enjoyed all the access and pulled in then a week later started the truck and left. We walked in town or the park or else took the free shuttles. What time of year do you plan on going, You can make year round reservations but uncertain how far out. Have a great visit.

RE: Silverton or Ouray?

DOC,
Try the Ampitheater campground in Ouray (be certain the your length rig will fit, size limitations ). Also there is a Campground right in towm by the river Close together but you can walk everywhere. Spend some time in the Hot Springs Pools in town and enjoy the views of the mountains. SUPER. You could search this site for the name of the campground..I don"t believe there are many. What a great drive from Durango to Ouray. Don't rush..enjoy. Hope you have a day to ride the Narrow Gauge outta Durango to Silverton.
Safe Travels,

RE: Prior to entering Zion NP

Clint,
Just stayed in Zion Canyon Campground Oct. 18th-24th. Parked the tow vehicle and started it a week later to head home. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere in town or via the Town Shuttle. As of Oct 26th I believe the Shuttle Bus in the park is shut down for the season. Zion River is very nice but nearly 20 miles from the entrance of the park. ZCCG does have showers. Adequate but not Five Star. We enjoyed sitting by the Virgin River with a beverage and a book. Inside the park...Watchman CG you can reserve but no showers....South CG is first come first served. If you don't stay in ZCGC you can purchase a shower token (6 Min) for 5.00. Alot if you ask me but available. Enjoy your stay.

Palm Creek RV and Golf Resort...Casa Grande AZ

I'd be interested in your experiences while visiting this Community between Phoenix and Tuscon. It looks huge..How is the golf course and the other facilities, community welcoming etc. Thought we may travel thru and stay a few weeks. I'd really like to try Pickleball.

RE: Bryce Canyon and Zion

Clint, We were in Zion N.P. Oct 18th - Oct 24th. We stayed just outside the park in Zion Canyon Campground...Zioncamp.com. We had hoped to stay in the park but ( Watchman ) was completely booked up. South campground is first come first served. No elec or water at the sites. We walked around Watchman an made notes. The following sites will accommodate a large rig and are by the Virgin River, huge cottonwood trees. In the A loop....# 11 a pull-thru, # 15 shorter and not bad. In the B loop....#42 is nice...#44 a pull-thru nice. #50 and # 52 are nice, # 50 is a pull-thru. #54 a pull thru with lots of space. #'s 20 and 22 have a nice view but NOT on the river, also # 34 and 35 would be fine if the others weren't available. Next time we plan ahead and stay in the park. Really quite a nice place. We parked the truck behind the 5th wheel and didn't have to use it for the week. They have a shuttle in town and had one thru the park but the time of year you'll be there it doesn't run. No Showers in the park. The park guide says Avg temp in Mar 63, low 36. Bryce would be very cold. Safe Travels...M.J.McKay

RE: Personal experience with Hitchhikers?

We bought our 2007 HH II 34.5 IKTG just this past April. Was New on the lot full warranty. I've had it on the road 49 days 8550 miles and can't wait to go again. Nice thing about a long maiden voyage was I was able to test most of the systems and I learned alot. Had a few problems, biggest probably a leaky window we think it was installed without weep holes. Couple other things on the list to fix when I returned. All addressed without question. Had occassion to call from the road seeking help a number of times. Called the Shop where I bought the 5th wheel and they saved my bacon a number of times. Haven't had a reason to speak to the Manufacture in Kansas but one reason I sought out this make was their reputation for customer service. Very happy with the trailer. There are many great makes but for the price and weight this one suits us. Safe Travels.

RE: Favorite Savannah Georgia campgrounds

Stayed again in Skidaway this June and enjoyed it immensely. Had a 36 ft 5th wheel no problem. They do have showers, nothing great but can save water that way. W/D avail if needed. Pool wasn't open then. I am sure there are many parks available this time of year. Enjoyed the tours. There is a FREE water taxi only has three stops, its a great refurbished vessel...Only on it for about thirty min if that, also a FREE Trolley along the water front as well. And lastly a FREE shuttle bus around town taking a very similar route to the TOUR Operators. What a great city. enjoy yourself.

RE: Gas vs Diesel

Tom,
I haven't owner a big gasser. I will tell you though that when reading this forum before making my purchases all were very helpful and sincere. I ended up with a 5th wheel at 13,600 GVWR and a Chevy 2500HD Diesel..Duramax combination. Just returned from an 8500 mile 49 day trip and the truck preformed GREAT. I was at 20,400 CVWR. I love the tow-haul feature. Coming downhill the engine brake is fabulous. Good luck with your dilemma. It's a fun one to have.

RE: Golden Clear Creek RV Park, Golden, CO

MPNLW44,
My parents live in Golden and I have walked thru on numerous occasions. A great place on the creek in a small town. Walk every place you need to go except for the Grocery. Two blocks from the REC center, a great facility with everything you'd want. Watch the kayaks in the Clear Creek in the shade. NOW all that great stuff aside..It's my understanding that they don't take reservations...City owned first come first served. How long did you wish to stay? If just a day or so en route to another destination..I have just this past July stayed at the Jefferson county fairgrounds. Basically a gravel parking lot with a few sites (about 5-6) along the roadway next to a sidewalk and a grassy area. Nice bathrooms with showers and overall for a couple nights very tolerable, Around 25 a night. Dakota ridge in Golden also very near I-70, Haven't been there myself but From what I hear closer to each other with nice amenities, about 47.00 a night.
Safe Travels,

RE: Long Island New York to the Outerbanks

Happy Camper,
WE traveled 13 and the Chesapeake bridge and tunnel about the third week in June and had no concern. We were towing a 36 ft fifth wheel. Had planned on stopping at the Bridge visitor center but felt pushed to continue as we had alot of traffic behind us and I wasn't sure if I could make that sharp turn. Would have been nice.
Stay away from the congestion in the DC area. My two cents.
Travel safe,

RE: SKIDAWAY STATE PARK, GA

Woodlm94,
Sir we were in Skidaway SP about June 22nd. I don't recall our site number, but I recall about four loops that had plenty of availability. Easy to just drive around and pick one out. The swimming pool was closed when we were there.
Enjoy your stay,

RE: 101 so of Seattle thru Oregon

JIM,
Did the entire coast last September and can't wait to return. Definitely will be some narrow spots but be patient and let the wife enjoy the view. Some days we made a whopping 50 miles and those were the best days. Stop at the BOWPICKER right across from the Maritime Museum in Astoria in the gravel parking lot for GREAT fish and chips. Don't miss Shore Acres, beautiful gardens. Sunsets from any beach. Super views from all the lighthouses.
Have a great time.

RE: Best Route from Ennis MT. to Island Park Id.

SS,
The drive from Ennis, Mt to Island Park,Id via 287 until joining 87 isn't bad at all and is certainly shorter. What beautiful country. On your way south stop in Idaho Falls and have lunch by the Snake River at the Falls. Great little stop and easy to get around. About 8 minutes east of I 15. Have a safe trip.

RE: Best route from Golden, CO to Custer, SD

Tami,
Just left Golden from the Jefferson County Fairgrounds the 18th of July dragging a 36 ft 5th wheel. Was visiting my parents in Golden. I have been there a number of times and used to live in the area. Just jump on I 70 East either from CO 58 or Hwy 93. Follow I 70 east to the I76 (left) exit east which will drop you onto I25 North towards Cheyenne. Very easy going. I'll let you decide from Cheyenne.
Drive Safely,
