RE: Cherrystone Has Hit Rock Bottom...

It used to be a great place. We have also put it on the places not to stay list. Too many policies and inflexible guidelines. We lean more and more towards the Virginia State Parks.

RE: electric awning

I have the A&E 9100. I wasn't happy with it until I learned that you can stake it down for windy days. I still put it up for storms, but it works great. I am quite tall and like that I can walk under the awning arms when it is out. The rain dump seems to work, but I tilt it down on one side when it rains.
All in all, no complaints.
Happy Camping!

RE: Said Goodbye to the HTT; it's now 4 Wall Camping for us...

We also made the change. I really loved the 23SS, but we usually camp four days a month and the beds started getting a little aggravating.
Good Luck with your new 2501SS.

RE: Mid Atlantic Group ELK NECK MD Sept. 25-27, 2009

Hi Everyone,
I'll be taking Rt 1 in Delaware to 40. Should I turn left on Old Elk Neck Rd or go through North East to Turkey Point Rd? If I remember Turkey Point Rd led right into the park.
Thanks. We'll see you all on Thursday..

RE: Chippokes Plantation State Park or Newport News Park?

Chippokes sites are also very large. The ferry is relaxing and there is no interstate noise to listen too. As others have said, both are very good, but IMO Chippokes hands down.
Enjoy

RE: Whats a comfortable weight limit for 2010 f150

I have a F-150 with the 5.4 and 3.73, and the higher payload package. It tows a 7500lb camper comfortably. Common sense, a good hitch and a quality brake controller help out.

RE: Tank Wand or Tornado?

I use a wand. Just my preference. However, I don't think your sink's faucet will give you enough pressure to get the wand spraying efectively.
I may get the tornado, but so far the wand has treated me well. I run the hose through my back outside storage panel, through the inside cabinet and into the head.

Slide Topper meets bird nest

I went on or first outting of the year to a Virginia State Park. I keep the camper at a storage lot, so I brought it home the day before we went camping. I had the slide extended for about 14 hours. During the night a bird built a nest in the bracket about 24 inches in the slide topper. Of course I did't see it while I put the slide back in. The nest rolled right up in the fabric.
When I went to extend the slide at the CG, it stopped less than half way out. I brought it back in, looked for gear adrift caught uo under the couch and kitchen, and tried again. Same thing, half way out. I had a friend look at the topper as it was going out and he saw the nest causing a bulge. We had to slowly extend and pick out little pieces.
The bulge caused the fabric to get caught on the bottom bracket and stop the slide. I couldn't see the bulge because it was on the inside edge of the topper.
Damn birds!

RE: Mid Atlantic Group ELK NECK MD Sept. 25-27, 2009

Luckily the rally is before Nov 1. In Virgina, unless people get rowdy the camp hosts don't bother you.
Now if they come around while we're doing the gift exchange it'll be trouble...

RE: Which Campground in Williamsburg VA?

I'll cast a second vote for Chippokes Plantation SP. It is very nice. It's quiet, they have a HUGE pool (Olympic size), nice playground area and they also have nice historical areas. It is about 30 minutes, including ferry ride, to Williamsburg but worth it. The ferry ride is relaxing.
