RE: Kelso WA overnight

Suggest that you look at
www.rvparkreviews.com/ it will help you make choices of places to stay. It only shows one RV park but the park (Brookhollow) does get very good ratings.

RE: Pre-trip shopping -- stuff to bring?

Canned tomatoes (stewed chopped etc), many of the recipes that we like called for these. Could not find them in Costco or Walmart in Hermosillia.

RE: ICBC Refund be careful

Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, insures all vehicles in British Columbia. I finally received my refund, along with a letter stating what evidence they would accept to prove that we were in Mexico.

RE: Star Choice HD dish in the Southwest

Use this link to get the settings to aim the dish. http://www.kusat.com/install/calculator2.php Follow the instructions on the receiver usually if you have the dish at the right angle it only takes about 5 minutes to tune in the signal.

RE: Will a 1000W Generator keep my batteries up

The Hyundai is rated at 60 dBA, which I think is similar to the Honda.

RE: digital camcorder

Wow, I didn't realize that something that small worked that well. I have a Canon Digital Rebel, and one of the main problems is that it really isn't portable when your climbing in close quarters or want to be discrete it just doesn't work. I will definitely look into "flip" and RCA. Thanks for the information.

RE: Will a 1000W Generator keep my batteries up

Thanks for all the information, I'm still curious if anyone has had experience with the Hyundai generator the specs sound similar to Honda but at a way lower price.

digital camcorder

Not sure if I'm in the right forum. I'm looking at purchasing a digital camcorder, this is all new to me. I have a digital slr but now with a new granddaughter I would like to add video, I'm looking for a reasonable digital HD recorder any suggestions?

RE: Will a 1000W Generator keep my batteries up

We have 2 6 volt interstate "golf cart" batteries and a 9300 (?) converter with a charge wizard. We are looking at the Hyundai, not a Honda, but if we only use it once in a while. Have any of you tried this generator?

Will a 1000W Generator keep my batteries up

We don't boondock often, but when we do it is usually for a week to 10 days. Once we camp we only use the batteries for running the fridge ignition system (fridge is on gas) and hot water heater (again on gas) and lights inside the 5th wheel. Will a 1000W generator run for a couple of hours a day keep the batteries up?

RE: ICBC Refund be careful

We don't have air care in Campbell River. I also went through our insurance agent and had them fax in our claim, they also carry our 5th wheel insurance. We received a refund based on our information on our trailer but the same information was not acceptable to ICBC. I think the main problem is our lack of a temporary vehicle import permit, the permit would have a vin number and a entrance and exit date.

ICBC Refund be careful

We spent three months in Sonora (Kino Bay) and thought that we have no difficulty in getting a refund from ICBC as we kept our toll receipts and had campground receipts to prove we were in Mexico. When we submitted these documents along with our proof of Mexican insurance it was rejected by ICBC because it did not have our vehicle plate or VIN number on the receipts, we will be able to get our campground to issue us a new receipt with our truck and trailer plates numbers on it. So just for future reference, if you don't need a temporary vehicle import permit get some other proof with your vehicle plate number on it.

blocked black tank flusher

We were in Mexico for 13 weeks where due to water restrictions were could not use our black tank flusher while emptying our black water tank. Now that we are back in the states I find that it appears to be plugged. I was thinking that when I get back home I could use my air compressor to blow out the blockage. Any other ideas or could my use of an air compressor cause a problem?

RE: Nogalas or Naco?

We have been told that the border crossing from Naco into the US is not RV friendly. Very narrow and difficult to negotiate with a 5th wheel. We would like to take this route as we are traveling from Kino Bay to Benson, but not if there is a good chance of doing damage to our rig.

RE: Sonora beaches and dog feet

It's not a sea flea problem at least not with our dog. The salt water suggestion seems to support our dog's behavior. He licks his paws more often when he has been swimming.

RE: Hermosillo Bypass

If you have trips and streets there are a couple of gps traces that you can use to follow the bipass. If you have the 2009 version it shows the street names. If you want a copy send me a PM.

RE: Mexican electric power

Bad power can be anywhere, not just in Mexico. I would strongly recommend that you get some type of protection for both low and high voltage. I've had problems with high voltage in Mexico and low voltage in older campgrounds in the US. In places where we have 15 amp power we run our fans but not our air conditioner.

RE: Hows The Weather SOB?

A rough way to change Celsius to Fahrenheit is to double the Celsius and then add 30. Ex. 10C x 2 = 20 + 30 = 50F.
