RE: grand canyon from St. Louis

ok so tell me if this sounds practical. take three days to drive from St. Louis to the South Entrance of the canyon (have no idea where we will stop on the way yet & may make it in two days). Spend 4 nights at trailer village with plans to do day hikes and see views. spend a day driving up to Kaibab National Forest campground to stay for 4 nights. Make a day trip or two to the north rim wih plans for a 1/2 day mule ride to supail tunnel and a day trip or two to Zion & Bryce (can these two be done in one day?). Catch 70 home. would that work?

RE: grand canyon from St. Louis

oops I meant south entrance not west entrance.do you know how long are how hard it is to get from the south entrance to the north entrance? Thinking about breaking up the trip between the 2.and then maybe taking 70 home.

RE: grand canyon from St. Louis

just called and they are already booked. going to do the 3 hour ride instead. better than nothing. Ok, I have 8 nights. think I'll book half at trailer village to do activities there including the mule ride. for the rest may stay in Flagstaff, williams, or Peach Spr (kind of far west) and try to book a white water raft trip for a day or two...trying to avoid driving back and forth. Any suggestions? also if I stay in flagstaff and then go to the west entrance, does taking 89 to 64 do anything for me? the map shows all kinds of great names like painted desert? can we pull a trailer on that route?

RE: grand canyon from St. Louis

We will need hook ups so looks like my choices are Trailer Village in the park or Canyon Motel & Rv Park. Pros & cons? would also like to do a mule ride and float trip. I'm a little nervous about anything overnight. It could be awesome or it could be cold and rainy and miserable...other must does while we are there?

grand canyon from St. Louis

Thinking about road tripping from St. Louis to the Grand Canyon in early June. Have two teenage boys and a 32" trailer. Looks like 23 driving hours. Need suggestions for routes, stops on the way, campground and activities once there.

St. Louis to DC via Shenandoah National Park

Driving to DC next week from St. Louis and a friend suggested we go to Harrisonburg VA then drive just East of Elkton and enter the Skyline north to 66 in order to view part of the Shenandoah National Park. I am trying to map this out so we don't end up lost after 12 hours on the road but I can't get mapquest to do what I want. I don't know the road to Elkton and the "Skyline" is what on a map?? Somebody please walk me through it.
