RE: What effect is Sequestration having on the parks?
One of my favorite NP CGs is closed. It's only 25 miles from home, and with my senior pass it cost me $8 a day to camp there. But not this summer.
Would you mind sharing which one is closed?

What effect is Sequestration having on the parks?
I've been hearing the Sequestration will cause cutback's at the parks this year, but have not heard any specifics yet.
Have you noticed any effects from the Sequestration, and has it changed any of your plans this season?

Hey marc,
Snce duplicate posts are against forum rules, you might want to delete one of them.
I Don't know how to delete posts, so I notified the moderator and asked hime to delete the other post, as I thought it should be in tow vehicles. Sorry for the confusion; we are now thinking the mini lite may be too much trailer for the Liberty, so he is now looking at the Jayco 1206.

Towing a Jayco 1206?
A friend of mine has a 2012 Jeep Liberty with a 5,000 LB Tow Capacity, and is considering a Jayco 1206. He doesn't have the factory tow package, but has installed a Class 3 Hitch.
The Jayco 1206 has a GVWR of 3,450, and is 18'-8" in length.
I know he will need some type of sway control device, but I'm not sure if he would need a WDH?
Do any of you guys tow something similar?
Do you see any major issues with this set up?
How do you like the Jayco 1206 overall?
All insight will be appreciated. Thank you

Jeep Liberty Towing??
Friend of mine has a 2012 Jeep Liberty with a 5,000 LB Tow Capacity, (He doesn't have the factory tow package, but has installed a Class 3 Hitch) and is considering a Rockwood 1905 Mini lite.
Rockwood 1905 Mini lite Specs:
Dry Hitch Weight: 394 lbs.
Unloaded Vehicle Weight: 2,945 lbs.
GVWR: 3,894 lbs.
Exterior Length: 20'-4"
Exterior Height: 8'-9"
Exterior Width: 90"
The second option he is considering is a Jayco 1206 Pop up which has a GVWR of 3,450, and is 18'-8" in length.
Do any of you guys tow something similar, and how's it working?

RE: Pathfinder owners- Where to mount the brake controller?
I realize that you probably have the controller already, but I think the wireless brake controllers they have out are pretty cool. If I pull anything with the Honda I may consider that option since there isn't a place to put a controller for that vehicle either. Think they are about 250, but it may be an option.
Thanks for the idea, and will consider it if our P2 ever dies out.

Pathfinder owners- Where to mount the brake controller?
I have a 2011 Pathfinder, and the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find the best spot to mount/locate it.
Where have you guys found to be the best spot to mount your brake controllers?

I called Goodsam today to inquire into the lifetime subscription as a veteran. The one thing I wasn't clear about is the credit for the year I am currently paid up for.
For example, I am paid up to 30 April 2014, but was only offered $10 credit for the yearm when I paid $20 per year for the original 3 year mambership.
Did I misunderstand something?

RE: Yellow Sticker "Weight of Cargo"
My yellow sticker just says Dry weight= 2,820 Lbs, then indicates a full load of water is 349 Lbs; doesn't mention propane or spare tire, or battery.
Just called Heartland and the yellow sticker is the dry weight with standard options such as AC, Microwave, spare tire and empty propane tanks; battery is not included.

Personally, I would not want a memory foam top because it would keep whatever heat and promote mildew.
I never heard of a memory foam topper promoting mildew?

Looking for a Good CG near Washington DC?
We're planning a trip to Washington DC this spring/summer and are looking for recommendations for a good campground. I saw an ad for Cherry Hill Park, in College Park MD, and it looks like it would be decent, with good access to bus and Metro into DC.

UPDATE: Just got ahold of the company that supplies the wheels to Heartland, and according to them, my wheels are rated to 65PSI.

Well,......I just called Heartland, and the customer service rep told me my rims are only rated for 50 PSI. So, if I want "D" load range tires, I will have to replace the rims!You can still get D rated tires and run them at 50psi.
I was wondering if I could run them at a lower PSI, so I just called Maxxis tires, and they indicated I could run the "D" tires at 50 PSI, and the load capability would be the same as the "C" tire (1,820Lbs).
At least if I go with the "D", I would have an 8 ply tire instead of a 6 ply tire.
Hopefully running them at 50 PSI doesn't overheat them.
I'm sure there's enough margin of safety built into the rime to go up to 55 PSI.

"C" to "D" load range tires?
I have a Heartland MPG single axle camper which currently has "C" load range tires, and I plan to upgrade to Maxxis M8008 "D" range tires this spring.
Question for others with single axle trailers who have upgraded to "D" load range tires: Will I notice any significant increase in the trailer bouncing due to the higher tire pressure?

RE: How will Air Bags affect a WDH?
Pulling a large trailer with a mid-size SUV myself, having the same E2 WDH and air bags, the WDH should ALWAYS be set up 100% first.
Once the WDH is set, THEN inflate the bags but do not induce lift. The bags are only there to help the soft rear springs and shocks when used with WDH. Inducing lift goofs up your sway control on the E2 by removing weight off the bars. The bar tension on the L brackets is what creates friction needed for the E2's anti-sway feature to function.
So, combined they work GREAT, but don't use them to compensate a poorly set up WDH and do not use them to lift the rear end.
I did not realize the airbags would raise the vehicle? I just thought they would help prevent sag when inflated.
