RE: Anyone bring their bird on camping trips?

I would never ever take my birds camping in a tent.. Ever! We used to have a motor home and camped with animals then, even then there were dangers with temperature/insects, but I felt much more comfortable doing that than I ever would with a tent.

RE: WHICH TENT TO BUY WITH SO MANY CHOICES OUT THERE?

Being able to identify a good place to set up your tent is probably more important then being able to set the tent up. This may sound weird, but most of the problems people have with there tents are a result of poor location. When looking for a place to set up your ten there are three things you should look for: slope, wind cover and surface type.

RE: Ways to stay cool while tent camping

Before you decide how much you want to spend, work out why you’re buying the tent and how far away from shelter you are. If for example you’re travelling in a Land Rover, then your tent – whilst being your primary shelter – is not as important as it is if you’re camping 10 miles from anything else on your own. Ask yourself, how near shelter am I if the tent fails? The further from help, the more you want to spend, and the more consideration needs to be taken.

RE: Fed Up with Campgrounds Charging Extra for Kids

Well, most of the campgrounds owners charge for above 3 year children and if they charge for less than 3 year then it is too harsh.

RE: Ways to stay cool while tent camping

Portable A/C or high velocity fans, not those cheapo box fans. Lots of shade, cool swimming hole helps too during the day.

RE: Questions about tent camping in bear country

The most important thing to remember when camping in bear country is, never allow bears to obtain your food, garbage, or other attractants. Bears that learn to obtain food in campgrounds often become increasingly bold and aggressive in their efforts to obtain these foods.

RE: Who uses regular plastic tarp as a rainfly?

If it's raining much, you can always erect a picnic canopy or rig plastic tarp as a rain fly and work dry.
