RE: Does anyone use the storage under queen sized bed?

Since our bedroom is in the rear, in order to keep the tongue weight up, I only use it for light items that are seldom used , which means it is mostly empty.

RE: Sherline Trailer Tongue Scales

I have a Sherline so I accurately know me tongue weight but unless I also accurately know my TT weight I don't if I am in the right percentage range.

RE: Towing Question!!??!!

What is all the noise about GVWR? That is as unlikely as the dry weight. My TT GVWR is 10600# and empty weight, per the CAT scales is 7000#. There is no way I will ever put anywhere near 3600# in the TT. The most I have ever weighed was just under 8000# and that with clothes, food and equipment for 4 people. In my case, and I'll wager in most cases , the limiting factor is the CVWR.

RE: Spare Tire Security & Extra Spare?

Go to Amazon.com and search for "spare tire lock". I use the Master Lock 262DAT on my spare. Note the price ranges from $5.30 to $26.79.

RE: Water Pressure Regulators

The regulators from Camping World-Wally world and such are basically just restrictors, not regulators. For true regulation you need a Watts type whole house filter. Just google "water pressure regulator".

RE: Avoid Oklahoma if retiring

before you move to TX.... rethink the property tax in TX, We were going to move there but did an about face after investigating the property tax.
The absolutely cheapest property tax in any county in tx that we could find was very very close to 2% with a majority of counties hitting 3%
We looked at a home just under 300K with property tax and other odds and end taxes (collected with the property tax) it was over $11000 a year... just couldnt do it, no matter how bad we wanted to live in TX ... that is almost $1000 a month
You need to do more checking. My home is $100,000 and my taxes for 2009 are $988.

Bookmark this and come back in a year or two. You will think of this as the good days when taxes were so low.

RE: ERS ratings from the tow operators...

So, what is this supposed to prove. This only shows who the tow operators like, surely based on how they are treated. Doesn't have anything to do with how RV owners are treated.

RE: Do I need to Winterize if I live in San Antonio Texas?

I live in Haltom City (Fort Worth) and don't actually winterize. We camp through out the winter so I just watch the forecasts and if it is going to freeze dump the FW tank run all the water out of the pump, drain the water heater, open the low point drains and faucets, including the outside shower and toilet, blow out the lines with low pressure compressed air. Pour a little pink stuff in the traps and toilet. Takes 10 or 15 minutes and we don't have to do any dewinterizing when we go again.

RE: Reese Dual Cam Sway Control plus K&N air filter

Did you do the install of the dual cam yourself? I'm getting everything ready for a trailer that I'll have soon and this is what I'm looking at now. Just trying to decide if I should go ahead any pay the dealer or do it myself.
also, jsut curious where you get teh figure of 157" WB for your supercrew. I have an '04 screw and if I'm reading the manual right I've got 138". That's a significant difference.
In my opinion DO NOT PAY A DEALER (yes I am shouting). I have been to three dealers (I am not physically able to do it myself) who assured me that they were experts. Of the three only one technician said he had ever installed one before and he said about 5 years years ago. I'm not sure but I don't think the Strait-Line has been around that long. One said he had seen one before and one wanted to know,"what kind of hitch is that.
The instructions that come with the hitch are clear and easy to understand. E-trailer http://www.etrailer.com/even has videos showing how. If you are able, do it yourself. If not, read the instructions, watch the videos and then hire someone to follow your instructions.

RE: Directv vs Dish again

A Dish 1000 dish with a quad LNB gets both of them plus the 129 satellite which is the HD programing
The Dish 1000 is a THREE LNB...
The Dish 1000 typically uses the Dish Pro QUAD LNB.

RE: Curtain Clip

The window next to the bed has a valance with a curtain down the side of the day/night shade. Purely decorative. The clip that holds the drapery part to the wall snapped in two. Does anyone have a website where you can get another of these clips?
I have two broken-I will be watching this post.

This might surprise you, but not all of us know everything. I had no idea what EMS was until chalet05's post and I think him for it.

RE: Directv vs Dish again

I have had Directv in my MH for 6 years with no problems to speak of. I have a Winegard crank up sat dish on the roof that works well for me. ... If I switch to Dish, what would I be giving up?
Is the Dish sat harder to locate and will the reception be the same as Direct?
The main difference will be that Dish Network SD programming is on two satellites, not just one like DirecTV. What this means to you is that you will only be able to "see" one Dish Network satellite at a time, so each time you want to switch from a program on, say, the 119 satellite to a program on the 110 satellite, you'll have to re-aim the dish. It's certainly do-able, but could quickly become a PITA.
A Dish 500 dish with a twin or quad LNB picks up both 110 and 119 at the same time. A Dish 1000 dish with a quad LNB gets both of them plus the 129 satellite which is the HD programing. No re-aiming the dish at any time, until you move. Also with the twin LNB you can run two different receivers and with the quad you can run up to four.

RE: My first blowout! Tire advice needed

At any rate, when (not if) you go up to load range D tires, check your rims, make sure they are rated to handle the 65psi of air pressure that D tires need. If they (the rims) are not, you'll need to upgrade them as well.
How do you do that? Some wheels have ratings on the rim or in the valley but I don't think that is a requirement. I have seen many, many wheels, including the 5 on my TT, that do not have any markings; pressure, weight or manufacturer.

RE: When towing becomes a pleasure

Does the P3 have pre-sets available for different trailers/weights? I tow three different trailers with my truck and they vary in weight quite a bit. I'd like a controller that had pre-sets such that I could simply hit a button for the particular trailer I'm towing at the time and it would be set properly for that trailer.
Yes. They are called boost settings and you can chose with a push of the button.

RE: weres everybody at?

At home in Texas getting ready to go camping. When I am camping I don't want to waste time on the computer except to check email or pay a bill if one is due so I don't post while gone. At home I check the forums almost every day but don't necessarily post that often. Right now it is 2:18 AM but since I am retired I can sleep as late as I want.

I would expect Good Sam, or whoever, to contract to get me the quality service they advertise, not bottom of the barrel service. If they are going to contract with someone to substandard service then they should not advertise top quality service.
I have Good Sam ERS and have used it once and was happy with the service received.
