i do exercise it monthly. actually the 2nd week of june we ran it for 5 days pretty much 12-15 hrs per day at a rally so I know it should have fresh gas and the carb should not be clogged/gummed up.
Onan 5.5kw keeps dying
I have a 5.5 kw Onan Gold Marquis generator. Spec D. When we were at a MC rally it died one time but then restarted and ran another whole day. Today we are getting ready to head out and I wanted to cool off the camper and it ran for about 5 minutes and then started surging and died. It has been unusually hot here in the midwest 100+ degrees. I run 15w40 (or maybe it's 50) rotella oil so it should be rated high enough for the heat i think. The oil does not appear to be bubbling or foaming.
I run 2 a/c's and a fridge. I wouldn't think that'd be too much. I tried to kill one a/c and restart but it keep surging for about 30sec and then dies again. No services codes showing and it only has 500 hrs on it. I have 1/2 tank of fuel according to my gauge. I always open the storage bin to allow air to circulate.
Is there an inline fuel filter I should change? or what else do you think it could be.
