RE: Rental Trailer Question

I looked into that but a small warehouse in San Diego would have cost $400K.
Way too much to comfortably afford for my hobbies..

RE: Rental Trailer Question

Not a dumb question but my challenge is I pay $140 a month to store the RV, then $100 a car to store the cars in a steel building.
I have 2 vehicles coming in this month and when I see the money I am spending on storing cars I dont want to add to it. I have a bunch of weird cars, bikes, etc..
Also, I am guessing I will want to tow the tank maybe 4 or 5 times a year. To spend a few thousand on a trailer I will use a few days a year then pay for storage ends up adding up to real money fast.
I am trying to convince my wife that I am not totally crazy and she is pretty good to me so I am trying to limit the extra vehicles, rv's, etc..
I was hoping for a heavy duty trailer I could hook to my dually and hit a few car shows.
Top speed on the tank is 50mph so it isnt a great highway vehicle..

RE: Rental Trailer Question

That is my challenge, I have no room. my garages are full, I have a smaller yard and am storing cars all over town. I am kind of screwed on storage space.
I called the places above to rent and it doesn't look like they have anything for me.
I am going to check a few heavy equipment places in town and see what they have got.
I may also post on Craigslist and see what comes up.

Rental Trailer Question

I have a Keystone Fusion and this group has always been a great resource so I thought I would post a non TH question here and see what you thought.
I have a vehicle, picture below that I need to transport to car shows. It weighs 8,200 lbs and therefore is too heavy for any U Haul trailers. Its footprint is about the same as a Jeep so it looks bigger in pictures than it actually is...
I have a 07 Dodge Dually so I can pull it no problem, I just need a flatbed trailer to transport it to car shows.
I am in San Diego and would need a trailer for about 6 weekends a year to haul it around.
Any ideas would be much appreciated..

RE: Changing chinese ST tires, what would you do?

My truck tire guy tells me over 90% of tires are made in Asia, specifically China.
Maxiss is Cheng-Shin which is Chinese.
His point was that almost no companies make tires in the US, even US companies, because it has become such a commodity with too many competitors and the prices have been driven down.
They can't afford to make them here.
I am just the messenger, I don't like it but he said that is what is happening.
Like it or not China will be importing everything to us. GM just announced they will soon import GM cars made in china to us here in the US. If GM survives they will make all their cars in China in 10 years.

RE: RZR or....

Yes it is.
The first video was Glamis, this one is Ocotillo.
The end is great, my buddy switched to a quad from a dirtbike because it was safer and on his first trip he flips and breaks his toe.
never got hurt on a dirtbike and then wrecked his quad first time out..

Maybe this video will convince you to get a RZR??
This is a video I made for a guy I met on my first trip to Glamis. I made it for him as payback for showing me around..

RE: Yet another Towing question

I went through the exact same scenario when I bought my Fuzion 362.
I had no truck so I wanted a SRW 3500 but realized I would be overweight.
i went back and forth and eventually bought the dually.
Not the greatest daily driver but it works great with the trailer.
I always say the one time you need the extra stability and you went the easy route, you will regret it.

RE: Has this happen to anybody?

I had a cheaper hybrid travel trailer and lost 3 vents in less than a year while driving down the road. We got to the point that we never opened them figuring if we left it closed they would stay on.
Eventually upgraded to the covers but then sold it for a 5'er..

RE: DRW Tire Pressure Check

I went to a truck tire store and they put on metal extenders.
They have never leaked and cost me $100.
I also put the Viarr Onboard air system under the dually and have a quick connect on the rear bumper and air up or down at will in about 10 seconds..
best thing I ever did on the truck..

RE: Glamis Video

Funny, some people say they click on the link and cant see the video and others say they have no problem viewing it.
It is on You Tube under Keyword: matthewcyahoo
The name of the clip is King Carl/King of Glamis.
I made my first trip to Glamis last week and Carl parked his RV next to mine and showed me around the dunes.
I used a handheld camcorder for some shots but the onboard camera is an ATC camera with a KW machine works mount.
KW machineworks in Tememcula sells the mount and camera together.
I use iMovie 09 to edit.
One caveat: In order to use the ATC you need to convert the clips to get them into iMovie. I can always walk anyone through it if they get the camera..
Here is the link again..

RE: Driving in sand

I think it would be tough to get one of those stuck. They are so light.
Just air down and have fun.
Tough to get stuck in my truck also.. Even with my daughter driving..
