RE: Bounder use in Cold Weather

We regularly ski camp during the winter. Each rig will be different so you have to figure out where your weak spots are. For instance on my rig the water pump is in my wet bay. So after experienceing it freezing I put 2 halogen lights in there to help keep the bay warm. Even though I have heated bays it wasn't efficient enough to keep the wp from freezing under 7 degrees. Use your propane heater not an electric one, that way the bays will not freeze. I close the slide during storms. By winter camping you will get better at it. We don't run around inside the rig in shorts...even with a good heater its cool inside and we have to wear sweats and slippers. Winter camping is fun and a challenge at the same time.

luxo dp's with lousy kitchens

I don't get it. Big 40+ footers with only a 2 burner stove and a microwave. Its not like they don't have any room...

RE: tow vehicle

costco sunforce 60watt solar panel setup

Been eyeballing this portable solar rig. 289 bucks includes 4 15watt panelsand a frame, 7watt controler, inverter, and all the wiring. I know its not great but for the price I might be able to keep a seperate 12 volt battery charged up enough to run a sat reciever and tv for a while.

RE: snowchains or cablechains

When my coach had 19.5 tires I always carried chains just in case. Never had to you them, but it was comforting to know that I had them since most trips take me over the grapevine. My current coach has 22.5 tires. I do not carry chains. I have a heater, assorted wines, a full frig, and lots of videos, I think I would just wait out the storm. Happy Trails. When you are heading to Mammoth for 3-4 of ski camping, you aren't going to sit around and wait for the storm to pass. In fact its great news when we know the chains might be going on the rig.

RE: We Like Truck Stops, anybody else?

Fun thread. I'm just a working family guy who gets out as much as possible. Its fun to read all the responses from the long adventure folks. Someday.

RE: Cleaning rear radiators

Whew, this thread has confirmed to me that when I get a dp, it'll be a side radiator.

RE: snowchains or cablechains

I use diagonal truck cable chains. Got them at tirechain.com Easy to put on. They are secure. They work.

RE: Where do I place my new Invertor ???

Consider this: run a 12 ga romex wire from the inverter to the shorepower storage bay and mount a recepticle there that you can plug your shorepower cord into, then: just plug the shorepower cord in and run anything (within reason) on the existing 115 volt wiring. When your in a full hookup park, unplug the cord and plug into the shorepower and your good to go. Hey thats a good idea!!

RE: Have 40K to 50K

Take a hard look at the 34 foot Winnebago Journey. The floor plan is fantastic. Cat. engine/allison tranny. as the little battery ad goes, they run and run, and run. I absolutly love mine and its in your price range. I want one of those or a 34-35ft Excursion triple slide.

RE: Any high mileage gassers

Great thread!! Glad to see so many V10s running hard and racking up the high miles. Got 35k on mine and plan on running it for at least the next 5 years.

RE: If campsite is unlevel, do YOU allow jacks to lift wheels?

No I never lift tires off the ground. I drive up on lynx levelers and then put jacks down on stacked 2x6's. I've leveled with 8 contact points on really unlevel spots. I feel safer and sleep better this way.

RE: dish network satellite tv

Marty,, You kind of implied this but did nto come right out and say it That sounds like an issue with the dome, not with the receiver. NOTE: one thing I have seen, when changing from ground to dome and back, is that the receiver won't be able to switch polarizations properly (That is it will get either "Even" or "Odd" But not both transponders) When this happens, on a Dishnetwork unit... Run Check switch (Antenna pointing, check switch, test) ON a DirecTV, do a receiver RESET Yep, click menu, system setup, installation, point dish/signal. At this point you are either locked showing green(you are good to go), locked showing red( run a check switch and save the changes), or not locked( you need to find a bird and run a check switch).

RE: RV cover

On trick I use is to tie the cover in a bunch of places so its like a long sausage. Makes it easier to pull up on the rv and then just untie and drape it over the sides.

RE: RV cover

I cover when we aren't going anywhere for a few weeks. The rig stays cleaner but it is a PITA to put on and take off.

RE: Just put a deposit down on a 2004 Sunova 30B Ford
