RE: Bilstein 5100's on my dually?

I put a set of RS9000's on and they made it ride like a caddy! I dial down the rears when empty and it's smooth as buttah!

RE: Trailer Brake Problems and Braking Performance

If you pulled the drum and there was oil/grease on the magnet and drum, then it was on the shoes as well. If oil/grease gets on the shoes, they are junk and Brake Cleaner will not get it off. Take the drums to your local guy and have them turned to get the glazing off them and replace the shoes and seals. Repack the bearings and you'll be good to go.
If I had to guess...I would say you have easy lube axles with the grease fitting on the hub. I personally have never had any luck with them, others have. You may get Lippert to do something for you under warranty.
And yes you should have full braking power weather you are towing with a 1/2ton or a dually.

RE: Emerald Ash Borer profit?

Lots of good info on the EAB here.
Every CG we've checked into in New England always asks if we have brought our own firewood as it is not allowed per state regulations.

RE: My CampingWorld Experience So Far....

Sounds like half the problem was wanting CW to work around your schedule.
Now why would the seller have to work around the buyers schedule? I think that is called business!
The first and biggest mistake here is that a check exchanged hands prior to the PDI and the unit being 100% acceptable to the buyer.
IMO CW Sales is quantity driven...almost like a wholesaler and CW Service is just the opposite...sort of. I am not sticking up for them in anyway shape or form as we all have had our run-ins with them at one time or another...but think of it like this. If you go to ANY dealership and want a unit that is not on their lot and it has to be ordered from the factory, the average lead time is 6-8 weeks. Most people aren't happy with that but in order to get their dream rig it is something that they are ok with. On the other hand...when your fridge brakes or the WH is out and need a part, in some cases that part gets ordered from the manufacturer of the RV who might have to order it from the manufacturer of the appliance who might have to get it from a vendor....so a 15 minute job is waiting for parts for a couple of weeks...which we as consumers...that just paid $$$$$$.$$ for our unit want it yesterday.
Bottom line is that the way you were treated and misinformed is not right in any way.
The one thing that I am sure of is that you will never make that first (and last) mistake of handing over the check first again.
I hope it all comes out in the wash! Hopefully CW puts in some detergent for you!

RE: synthetic trans fluid

I've switched to Transynd in my Allison. That's what we run in commercial highway coaches/tour buses. Runs cooler, smoother shifts, longer drain intervals, etc.
How do you do the switch without leaving some of the older stuff behind? Or, is it okay to leave some and blend them?
Takes 2 drain (drive some) fills to be considered a change out. Do NOT flush Allison. Dex6 is mix compatible with transynd.
Why do Not flush Allison?

RE: Water in Fuel

You'll never make it 200 miles with the alarm on. It will go into limp mode long before that. I agree with ronniedean1234 and would put the additive to it. I would also top that tank off with fresh fuel.

RE: i like these two floorplans--pros and cons?

The hike to the bathroom in both of those units wouldn't work for me. I have a hard time going back to sleep after a night time "pitstop" and after that haul I would be wide awake.

RE: 06 GMC 3500 vin "D"

I agree with all the previous posters but....I would do some more research on it! LBZ's are highly sought after. I would also check the hour meter on it as it may have been idled to death. Good luck and keep us posted!

RE: Highways Magazine

Just want to post my displeasure with the dropping of the Highways magazine. This was one of the main reasons I kept my Good Sam membership.. I will seriously reconsider this at this point. What is even more interesting is that because I already get Motorhome you will stick an insert in it but if I did not get it you would give it to me for free?? What's up with that? Let's penalize those who are paying for the magazine already??? I have a feeling you will need to reconsider this decision as I believe others will have the same issues with this decision.
I'm on the same road as you...with the exception of the Motorhome. As I get Trailer Life.
From the sounds of things around here GS/CW would be better off cleaning house at a few dealerships around the country to save some coin. It seems that most of the issues surround a few dealerships.

RE: New Lance, Refused Delivery; Your Opinions Please

Aside from the "possible: structural issue, The dealer is one to never do business with.
1. Caulk doesn't stick to dirt!
2. If the unit has been sitting on the lot for 2 yrs wouldn't you clean it properly prior to PDI? ie the roof?
Hope you get your $ back!

RE: B&W hitch

According to Amazon it is 95#+/-. 250 sounds like a Trailer Saver not a Curt. Mine comes out slick. The head comes off first which is in the 30# range and then the rest. I threw out a Reese after I got this one and would never buy anything else!

RE: Pin box bolts not secure.

The pin box bolts were so loose on my Laredo that they showed some movement as evidenced by the washers being moved from the original paint line. I replaced them with grade 8, torqued them, painted around the washers and never looked back - except to check for paint separation that is.
My Laredo did the same thing and my fix was the same as yours! Been good for 3yrs and about 20k so far...

That new rig has Dually written all over it. 3100# of pin weight IMO would be much more stable in a DRW.
