RE: Anyone towing with a '08 GM 1500?

I'm not new to towing or leveling loads. The truck is being just about put to its towing, payload limits, and is well over it GCWR. And the weight I got was without food, coolers of ice, water in tanks or the bikes and kayaks in the truck. My 1500 will do it, but its time for something to do it safely...

RE: Chevy 2500 factory brake controller

I would figure the P3 would be far superior to the factory. The stock controller is nothing more than a slide with a +/- button. The P3 gives voltage readings and other warnings about you braking system back to you. Which is very convenient when you lose brakes and it tells you there is an open ground or short someplace.

Chevy 2500 factory brake controller

Picking up a 2009 silverado 2500 in a few days. It has a factory brake controller installed in the dash, but I want to use my P3. Is there a way to bypass it, or just wire it in through the box under the dash?

RE: Anyone towing with a '08 GM 1500?

Thanks for all the feed back. Picked up the trailer Saturday and couldn't believe how low my truck sat! Ran it across the cat scale, trailer weighed in at 6940# with 780# at the tounge. Engine and trans did great on flat ground, All the trouble was in the suspension. Stopped and looked at a 2500 on the way to get the trailer just in case...should be picking that up by the end of the week, haha.

Rv Wholesalers

I've bought lots of stuff from rvwholesalers in the past, just wondering if anyone has had a local dealer match or beat their prices? I know my local won't. Just got a price on an equalizer hitch and he was $300 more. Yea I could go pick it off the shelf, but I can wait a few days for shipping to save that much!

RE: X-chocks with spread axle

As long as you don't need to fully retract them I'd just cut the rod off. Leave enough to make sure you can loosen them enough to get out

3.73 rear, a 2500 is planned to be my next truck, maybe sooner than planned. We'll see how we make out

RE: Anyone towing with a '08 GM 1500?

Wish there was a scale around here that didn't have a line of trucks waiting. I know that would involve dropping the trailer by itself on the scale. Maybe a local quarry would let me use one

X-chocks with spread axle

New to the travel trailer forum from the hybrid forum...Just bought a 2013 Keystone Summerland with a spread axle design. Haven't taken delivery of it yet and was wondering if my x-chocks will fit, or what others with spread axle trailers use?

Anyone towing with a '08 GM 1500?

I've got a 2008 Sierra 1500 crew cab 5.3l. Truck is rated for 9500lbs. Just bought a trailer with a dry weight of 6455lbs, so figure around 7000lbs loaded. Haven't pulled anything that heavy with this truck yet. Should there be any concerns? Still way below my limit, but don't want to push it at the same time.

RE: ~Post your campsite photos here~

Looks beautiful and the rates aren't too bad, but if I drove 1500 miles from PA, I feel I'd be turned away pulling in with my hybrid...

RE: First Time Winterizing

When blowing out the lines, be sure to set the air pressure to 20-30psi to avoid breaking pipes. Park water pressure is usually high, just like using a pressure regulator to keep it under 50psi for the same reason.

RE: Moving On...

Well, with a newborn on the way, the hybrid is a 2 person set up and breakdown. (for us anyway). And with the closing of the bunks and moving things around, we're left with minimal seating area.

Moving On...

This weekend we will be picking up our new Dutchman travel trailer and trading in our Coyote hybrid. Thanks to everyone who gave us advice on this being our first camper. The travel trailer will be the best choice for our next stage of life, but we do plan on a future hybrid purchase again.
Happy Camping!

RE: opinions please Coyote or Rockwood

We just traded in our 06 coyote hybrid. I was never happy with the overall craftsmanship of the KZ trailers: lots of screw heads and staples showing everywhere. Forest River trailers seem very well built...even though we ended up with a Dutchman.

RE: NADA value cannot find!

Look under Sportsman. For some reason NADA lists all KZ products under Sportsman.
That's how I had to find values for my coyote hybrid. It was listed under sportsman.

Well, turns out the weekend we wanted is Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and most everything is booked. So we decided to head south instead. But thanks for the info and we'll use it next season!

RE: Fall Vermont Camping

Anyone ever go up to Lone Pine Campsites in Colchester? I know that's heading even further north, but there seems to be more to do and see up there. Besides, we are more familiar with the Burlington area.

Fall Vermont Camping

We're heading up to Vermont in a few weeks and were looking into staying at either Lake Bomoseen or Lake Dunmore - Kampersville. Any info on either of these would be great! Thanks!!
