RE: Maggie Valley NC

Yeah, take exit 20/ Jonathon Creek Road / Hwy 276 off I40 and you will pass Creekside and Pride on your left less than 2 miles from interstate. Between these 2 and I40 is where you can turn and go across the mountain towards Tenn and see the elk that have been moved into that area.. Small winding roads but ok for a car or truck. There are some other cg's on 276 that have signs but are back off of the main road. I have never visited them.
Wb, you are gonna have to slow down and smell the roses more. :C

RE: Zooland in Asheboro NC or Crosswinds in Linwood?

Glad you had a fairly good time at CW with the weather and things going on. I do know that your water heater has to be handled carefully when winterizing and re-opening. Did you drain it to the outside when closing up? Also I rock my TT from side to side as there is a "white stuff" that buils up in the bottom of the tank. That most likely is whst caused your problem and water that has just been sitting around waiting on you to return, can get pretty smelly.
If you have kids, you must try to do Dan Nicholas Park sometime. Lots os things there to keep them busy and happy.

RE: Zooland in Asheboro NC or Crosswinds in Linwood?

You will be fine at CW. great folks there. Not much for the kids to do but you are not far from driving to the activities at Dan Nicholas Park. The cg is only 1 small part of it. Also the NC Train Museum is close by in Spencer.Daniel Boone Cave Park is right up Hwy 150 from CW

RE: Zooland in Asheboro NC or Crosswinds in Linwood?

Cross Winds is nice with great owners. If you don't need a dump at your site, I would suggest Dan Nicholas park in Salisbury. My reasons are that if you think Zooland has road noise, you will be bothered at CW by I-85 highway noise, train horns night and day and they are working on the roads in that area right now paving and installing new bridges. None of the sounds at either of these have bothered us but you mentioned it as maybe a problem for you. DN is much quieter though and you will be on the Charlotte side of I85 construction area..

RE: A problem I never knew existed.

Just looked at the train wreck reviews on Rvparkreviews.com and discovered a problem I never knew existed. A park in Lyndon, Kansas got the lowest possible score and the first reason given was the park was built wrong because the RV doors face North.
This lady is right and I agree with her.
I absolutely refuse to stay in any RV Park (including a Walmart) where the doors face North.
Downtheroad, it looks like no one paid you any attention on this site either ;)

RE: Okeechobee Florida

We visited my in-laws there a short while back and all I saw was great fishing in the lake. The in-laws made drives out from Okee to see things in larger areas. There are some good drives through the country past farmlands and plenty of cows to see. Sort of weird to see a palm tree in the middle of cow pastures.
it's really just a laid back area.A place to do nothing but relax.

RE: Thousand Trails Zone Pass - After One Year

I did the Zone pass one year and did give a 30 day notice of cancellation and was told that it was a required 60 day notice. With a little prodding, they cancelled my membership renewal. I did still receive calls from collection dept, But after saying that I had cancelled , they finally stopped calling.I did tell them that I might be interested again in a year or so, and this might have helped them back off too.

RE: Last minute trip near Charlotte, NC

I have left my home in NC many times and drove to Myrtle Beach to spend the day on the beach and then drove back home that night. Approx 8 hours of driving but I did it cause I wanted to go to the beach that day. Now granted that along my way, I was limited to what I saw that day except for sand and water.
For little ones to have a fun day from Charlotte, I strongly suggest Dan Nicholas County park in Salisbury. WE hookups only with bath house and dump stations. Lots of activities for the kids to do and I can guarantee they will love it.
ALSO, I am not sure of the agenda of Guy, but maybe just not having a great day.
Go camping and you and the world will be smiling. Now I need a doughnut.

RE: Campgrounds near Myrtle Beach but away from crowds!!

Why does a lot of folks keep suggesting places that ARE NOT within walking distance to the beach? That is what the OP has requested and said was needed.
All are great suggestions, but some do not fit what they are asking for.

RE: Crosswinds CG in Linwood,NC

We did miss you guys and hate that you had to leave early. I hope you are feeling better. I know how a bad back can ruin your day. The only bad thing was that we could not find the hotdogs for the weiner roast. Thank goodness there was a Food Lion nearby LOL......get better and hope to see you soon.

RE: Good Sam insurance???

We had G.Sam/GMAC and then discovered that we could add the camper onto our home and auto policy for 1 year at what we were paying GMAC every 6 months. We also have better replacement coverage and awning protection now if we should ever need it. We have Cincinnati Insurance coverage.

Well we survived the weekend with only minor sunburn but I think that I over-did the hot dogs and marshmallows. Thanks Will and your wife for a good time. Wbwood, glad to have met you and the family also.
The owners there were great as usual too.
