RE: Sales Tax on Used Trailers from private sale etc.

To the question of the OP. As long as you prove residents in AZ you do not have to pay sales tax to another state no matter where you buy the unit. All but one of my cars and trucks were bought in states with sales tax from dealers and all I have ever had to show them is my Montana drivers lic and that was it, so if you buy from a dealer they will send the title work to the county that your drivers lic is from. With a sale from a priv party they will give you an title and you will have to take it to the county to reg it, I dont know if AZ will require an AZ drivers license or just an address.
Yes what mowertech is talking about is legal in Montana, but you will get a ticket in montana if your trailer is reg in montana and your tow vehicle and drivers lic is from out of state, I know this because I have gotten a ticket for this years ago. Montana law you have 30 days to get a drivers lic and reg on your vehicle once you claim residency and once you reg some thing in Montana with your name you are an resident.
I live and pay taxes in Montana but we have a farm in both Montana and Colorado and ran in to problems like this and the only legal way around it was to make every thing a LLC with the farm.

RE: Gassers... Please Post your Experience

02 GMC 2500 8.1L 3.73 gears 285/75 16 tires
TT 7,000lbs the farms goose neck 10,000lbs plus, tow this more often than the camper
empty I do not know, I have never ran a full tank trough it with out pulling a trailer, I drive the car or suburban if not pulling or hauling something.
I average 7 to 10 mpg with all my driving.
I love this truck, I think I will rebuild it when the time comes to replace it but with only 175,000 miles on it I hope to get another 100,000 before that comes. I think my next project will be to lower it back down and put little bit smaller tires back on it.

RE: Campgrounds between Fargo ND and Butte MT ?

Springcreek CG at Big Timber MT is nice, with full hook ups at some sites and power and water at all sites and they have a rv dump. Once you get to Bozeman on west it cools down at night and you wont need A/C at night. We have not used A/C this year yet. Around Bozeman we have been cooling of to the mid to lower 50's this week and before that it was cooling down to low 60's. Butte and west is even cooler, but we have been in the 90's during the day around Bozeman.

PIAA fog lights on my TV

I have PIAA 9591 fog lights on my truck and noticed I must of got a rock and cracked the lens. I have been tring to find a replacement lens because I spent a good amount for these lights and I do not think they sell them any more but I am coming up short. I was wondering if any one on here knows where I can find a replacement lens.
Thank you

RE: Mid 2000's Gasser

90,000 miles is not alot of miles any more on a used pickup if it was not abused. My 02 GMC has 173000 miles on the 8.1 gas and would drive it any where as it sets right now. My work truck is a 04 chevy with a 6.0 240000 miles on it and I still drive it across montana often. I think Ford or GM were both good trucks in the early 2000's but I think the GM 8.1 and GM 6.0 are a little more powerfull than Fords V10 and 5.4 but the GM motors are bigger so it is hard to compare realy.
If you like the SUV why not look for a 2500 suburban or a Ford excursion? A good V10 Excursion does not bring alot of money in my neck of the woods.
What I would look for in a used Ford would be if it had new spark plugs because they could be a pain on some ford motors and at 90,000 miles it would be ready for them any ways and the front end, wheel bearings and ball joints go out on fords around those miles but if is not that expensive if you have to have it done.
On a chevy I would look for oil leak up by the front of the intake and antifreeze leak under the water pump. Also I would check if the oil cooler lines are leaking, I think most chevy truck oil cooler lines do, mine does but I put a hose clamp on the fitting to stop it. Front ends seem to hold up better than a ford but I would still check it out.

RE: Tell me about the Jayco 26 bh

I have an 09 jayflight g2 26bh and love it, we boondock and it pulls good and good clearance for where we go. Only wish it had the 90 gal tank instead of the 32 gal tank no big deal I just have to use a transfer pump and watch my black and grey water levels. I think 2010 is when they started with the 90gal of fresh water. I have pulled it on old logging roads and down through ditches and it is holding up very well. The only problem that I have had with it is the dinning table bench, the out side is wider than the inside so when you are slidding out you kick the out side edge and knock the front off the cabnet under the seat I had to put some 1x1 in the corner and use some real screws to fix it. We use it almost every weekend from june to aug and that small problem is all that I have had, if I ever get another camper it will be a Jayco.

RE: Just for kicks-car question

I see 50 plus drive these cars every day here, the subs usualy have political stickers on them and the bmw and audi are from the money that moved here, I guess I dont see very many minis here though. My mom just turned 50 and drives a f-150 eco boost crew and she is normal, I think, but we are farm and ranch folks. Other women in a F-150 would be normal to me so I can not realy say, see alot of them driving 1 ton dualys hauling there horses to.

RE: Booster Seat for Picnic Table?

My DW picked up a Lifetime kids picnic table to haul with us camping. Have not took it camping yet but have used it with company and works good, it folds up flat. I do not know how to do the clicky thing but this is the address for it at costco.

RE: 3rd vehicle strictly for towing? Need advice.

We are a three car family, my wife drives a 05 burb and I drive a 99 dodge stratus to work and I have my 02 gmc for pulling trailers and fishing. It works for us the burb has low miles and the dodge is still running good so no need to replace them. My wife is a stay at home mom and if she had to go to work every day she would have to get a smaller rig. You can have older reliable rigs, my father in law always has new pickups and has more problems than I ever do, in the last five years he has had one dodge and three chevy/gmc trucks get to the point where he does not want to put any more money in them and he owns his own shop so the labor is cheaper for him than most. For me having my older rigs it has been great, normal maint and tags and insurance on all three is still cheaper than driving a truck back and forth every day. It saves me about 200 to 300 dollars a month driving my dodge with 35 dollars a month for insurance and 80 dollars a year for tags.

RE: Please wash your hands

Not much in this world grosses me out, but a dump station and porta poties do in a big way. I will be working in the shop and my wife will bring me a sandwich or icecream sandwich(wilcox huckle berry is my fav) and it grosses her out watching me eat it when you can see greasy finger prints on the bread. With that said I have to wear gloves at the dump station because it seems the guy ahead of me is always having a bad day and makes a mess. It is always wet and knowing that that hose is going to touch some thing and then you have to touch your hose then your nose itches and goes on and on. I rode bulls and saddle bronc when I was younger and was covered in cow and horse poo by the end of the rodeo which never bothered me I would still go out to the bars afterwards, but dump stations are my kryptonite. I wanted to put a dump station at home to help me out but the DW said no way.
