RE: Virginia

Route 11 parallels alot of I-81 and is a whole lot less stressful if the weather is good. Slower, of course with lights and cross roads, but no trucks up your backside at 80 mph.

RE: I bought a new digital camera!

I just bought a Coolpix L310 and am amazed at how much stuff it has, I'm STILL reading. And it was an on-line Black Friday limited off at $99.00. No shoving, no nonsense.

RE: AL, MS, LA State and Federal land

I will start my research Thanks. The early route is to stop in Birmingham at the Civil rights Museum, then head down towards Foley etc. then along the coast into Louisiana (New Orleans and oysters)at some point, but it is still very fluid and likely to change along the way. I've got about 8 -10 days to roam. I'd be glad to hear your TX Gulf recommendations too.

AL, MS, LA State and Federal land

For Christmas this year we are roaming south through Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. I prefer state and federal camp areas over private campgrounds. Who has some good recommendations for me. While we have one or two things planned, we generally have no destination in mind so parks all over the states are under consideration. We have a 22' Class C with 30A Thanks in advance

RE: Interesting Camper Pic's

don't know how to imbed a link but try truckcamperporn.com for some great shots and vehicles. Note there is nothing pornographic about the site.

RE: Anyone like to comment on this thread?

The only comment I'll make is that I purposely found a neighborhood that did not have a HOA. In fact, when a couple of people wanted to form one, they heard a resounding NO from the other 50 homeowners.

RE: Assateague State Park

This time of year the skeeters are a little bit better depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Assateague State Park

The Vista is plugged in and almost loaded for a 5 day stay at Assateague State Park in MD. Weather looks good enough for most days, soon my toes will be curling in the sand while I keep nosey ponies away from my food.

RE: Quiet time, What exactly does that mean?

Camp near a bunch of people owning VW buses and you'll hear sliding doors all night long.

RE: Priorities

When I first got my license I had a dog run out in front of me and being inexperienced, I slammed the brakes and cut the wheel in a 65 pontiac. Needless to say after spinning a few times and luckily missing people and places, I learned not to do that anymore. If I can slow safely I will, but will not panic stop to get rear ended etc.

RE: Natural Bridge, VA

Cave Mountain Lake - very quiet and peaceful. We stayed there in April and it was a great place.

RE: Waffle House limits

There are times when our party might hang around longer than we should at a restaurant. We make sure to leave an extra tip over and above the 20% if we do because tables and turnover are money. Haven't been in a Waffle House for years or the Waffle house wanna be's Huddle House

RE: Rule of thumb? How many nights a year to justify a camper?

if you like camping, 1 night justifies it. Not everything in life needs to have a cost/benefit ratio done. Life is way too short. If you like the outdoors and seeing a variety of places, buy and go. If you are not sure, rent a unit for a trip or two and decide then.

RE: Making threats to get a refund

I judge reviews like Olympic scores, I throw out the high and low and go from there. Some people are NEVER going to be satisfied

RE: Swimsuits..... where are they???

this thread makes me lol. Maybe it's a generational thing. As an elder myself, yes, I was raised that you wore swim trunks, but then ladies were to wear bathing caps too, you don't see that much anymore either. This is 2012, people are going to wear what they want if the rules allow it. It isn't necessarily bad or improper, it is just different from what our experiences are in the past. I prefer trunks if I have them available, but wouldn't let that stop me if I wanted a dip. Next thing you know someone will say skinny dipping is bad...... Well, it would be in my case, you don't want to see that.

RE: The GEO Method cant find

Don't forget plain old Arm and Hammer WASHING SODA works wonderful too and most places will carry that even if they don't have the borax or calgon.
