RE: From Kingman, Az to Las Vegas over Hoover Dam ??

No traffic can cross the dam.... From the AZ side, you will cross over the new bridge, only about one year old. From the Nevada side, you can reach the dam for tours, ETC, but that is it. That new bridge is really something, and you can walk on it.

RE: Winnebago/Sunnybrook bunk house can't find one

Just go to SunnyBrook RV. You might have looked at the Sunset Creek line, but the Mod # is 312- BDH, MSRP of $29,926 Dry weight 7,199-- GVW of 11,331 The site is a little hard to navigate, but your trailer models are listed on top, and then click on floor pans. Sunnybrook was purchased some 3 years back by Winnebago, as they did not produce any towable RV units, only motor driven units. Now they have a complete line of RV units. Good Luck

RE: How hard is it to put in a skylight?

Cutting into that roof would be my LAST option. You never know what is up there behind the roof and ceiling panels. As stated, switch to a Fantastic fan with multi speed settings, and forget that roof opening idea.

RE: Navistar RV is gone.......Hello new owners

A lot of those, what we think of as secure brands, are merging with bigger pockets, thus they will survive, but under different management. MANY trailer names are a small devision of larger corporate names. A few years back Sunnybrook RV became a devision to Winnebago industries. As Sunnybrook produced fewer than 1,000 units yearly, and Winnebago produced ZERO towable units yearly, it was a win win decision for both companies. But alas, that Sunnybrook name will probably vanish over the coming years.

RE: Need help finding a class A motorhome.

Used or New, you should find a wide selection out there. Phoenix area might have your best selection as older folks simply want to stay in the warmer climate year round. .

RE: Slider Hitch danger?

A few years back when pulling my fiver into a tight spot, i had to extend the slide. Everything work out fine, but when leaving this camp site, my REESE slide hitch would not retract to the normal on road tow position. I put blocks under the trailers wheels, and pulled back and forth with my TV but could not budge it. We were still about 200 miles from home, and just drove with the hitch extended. When we were about 2 miles from home, and coming up to a stop light, that slid hitch, and trailer, decided to finally move forward with a loud BANG. At first i thought that someone had run into the back of my fiver, but it was the trailer finally moving to it's proper tow position. When home, I dismantled the rails on the hitch, cleaned them, and found no problem that would have caused the hitch to freeze. When re assembling your rails pay attention to details, as it is easy to switch these rails from side to side, and those plastic pads are easy to come loose. The hitch is now 15 years old, and has worked pretty much as it is supposed to.

RE: Wintering in San Antonio area

Spent two year in the ARMY in that area. Never saw any snow, but it can get mighty chilly during during the nights in, jan & feb. The only camping I did was in a pup tent ,in the boonies. And getting up when it was still dark out, thus another reason i still dislike tent camping.

RE: Anyone care to place their bet?

All of the big three in the HEAVY hauling category will do the job. It really boils down to what DIESEL engine you prefer, Cab size, fit and finish, Those must have feature you really want and need, OH, and who gives you the best bang for the buck. So if I get to the TOP of the hill 10 seconds slower or faster, who really cares. All i want is a TV that is reliable, gets decent milage, and comfortable for those long days on the road.

RE: 2014 GM Truck Info

The Suburban has been around for like 50 years, thus I see no good reason to X this vehicle. As GM has been behind in their development of the ENTIRE truck line, they are now in a catch up mode compared to Ford and Dodge. Thus there info on up coming vehicle for 2013, is now 2014, hoping you will WAIT for them on you purchase of a Ford or Dodge TV.

RE: trailer damage

When our fiver was hit by a car, the insurance guy stated that he did not know anything about trailer repairs. Thus we went to a local trailer dealer, and were quoted $ 2,500 for the repair. Talking to the dealer, they stated that they also charge $150 for repair quotes, if brought to their shop, but charge more if they have to travel to your trailer. Reason for the up front money, a lot of people just pocket their insurance money, and patch it them self, or with body damage, they just trade the unit in, or do not repair it. Thus a dealer might be your only option for accurate repair quotes, or your insurance carrier might have someone who specializes in this field.

RE: Used Motorhome-where are they?

There are DOZENS of sites that feature new and used motor homes. Just GOOGLE used motor homes. But you have set your sights pretty high for that dollar amount you want to spend. Happy hunting.

RE: Zion and Bryce Canyon

A friend is looking for recommendations for campsites in Zion and Bryce Canyon area for this summer. With the summer camping season comes FULL camp grounds. Thus they might be too late to secure a spot in those parks.

RE: Owning Beach Property!

We also have ocean front property located in AZ. With those polar caps melting, we beat the rush, and had our pick of some pretty awesome views. :)

RE: Reservations about reservations

Reservations for those DESTINATION spots are a safe bet, as you will have a site reserved for you when you get there. Yellowstone, ETC. But when en-route to those destination sites, we just wing it, sometimes staying in a casino, truck stop, or county park. The trouble with too much planing is, you like the first stop, so you stay an extra day, NOW your whole en route plan is shot. So knowing that I have to arrive at my primary destination on a certain date is less stressful if things do not work out as planned.

RE: pop up campers

It really boils down to what features you like in each unit. Ease in setting up, type of brakes, Surge or electric. I for one prefer the surge type as it is fool proof. Storage space, sleeping arrangement, do you have to climb over one bunk to get to the wing bunk? See how the canvas is stored, and how the door folds and operates. Good Luck

RE: generator issues

Put a can of Sea Foam in your fuel tank. The problem may be in the carburetor. Motors may run fine when at idle, but under load they bog down. I would try the Sea Foam thing, as it could be you cheapest fix. Even if the fuel is diesel, i would still do this.

RE: Ideas for things to do with 7 & 9 year old boys

Bike Rides, Hiking, Nature walks, Collecting different shells, Do simple crafts, there are many kits in different stores. Take your maps, and have them plot a route to different spots, then have them calculate best route. Each child works on their own map when doing this, then compare results. Bird books, see what they can find. Cameras? See what the can do and find. Have fun.

RE: 'Towing in Yellowstone NP'

Probably Yellowstone NP is not the only one with these outside contracts. Third party contractors now make up the majority of those who reserve and book our camp sites across the US. It is not like it was years back when you could drive to a park, pay your camp fee, and that was it. Today you can get to a park, SEE empty sites, and it is getting dark out, but those spots are reserved, and it will sit empty for that night, and could be for many days.

RE: Heating TT? Electric vs Propane

Why arent you filling your 30lb tanks with the one in your yard. YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Propane is a highly volatile fuel, so watch out. Plus their might be state laws preventing this practice.
