RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Drooled over the last few trip pics the DW sent me while I continue on my Afghanistan "Vacation" for a few more months. Can't wait to get back to do the "suggested" updates she's coming up with :) Thanks for your continued service. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc231/mustang652/Web%20Smileys/Salute.jpg

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Drove it from The KOA at Van Horn, TX to the KOA Benson, AZ. Had forgotten how beautiful it is in this end of the country.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

As washing RVs in campgrounds is not allowed, spent the greater part of yesterday afternoon using using a glass cleaner and a spray detail cleaner to clean the roadkill bugs off the windshield and front cap on the RV in preparation for a planned departure on our continued trip to Las Vegas tomorrow.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Utilized a break in the rain yesterday while parked in Crockett, TX at Houston County Lake to clean the bug guts off the windshield and front of the RV. Follow on rain did a good job of rinsing the remainder off.

RE: Wabbit!

Just an update on the damage done by 'da Wabbit. Got the RV and the car trailer back today from Johnnie Walker RV. They have, as usual, done an excellent job on wiring. I had to have them rewire the car dolly I have a year ago due to some damage caused by the license plate flipping back under the plastic fender and cutting through the harness. In addition to the damage to the pigtail by the wabbit chewing through it, it had shorted out a couple of fuses in a location I didn't even know I had fuses. Now I know that there are three fuse boxes on this rig.

RE: Wabbit!

Though not White, most a muck color and a black, they seem to be domestic. Of the six known critters in this area, a resident got one with their car, DW trapped and had the city pick up four and the last, has just disappeared. Animal control indicated that this end of town had a rash of them over the past couple of months.

Wabbit!

I thought I saw a "puddy tat", but it was a "darned ole wabbit". Apparently some one has released several "domestic" pet rabbits in the area over the past couple of months. One or more of them have decided to make dinner out of the electrical pigtail on my car trailer. Not only have they chewed completely through the seven wire cord, but they have destroyed about a foot of in in the process. Have been at it for the past couple of week trying to repair the damage, but decided after replacing the harness from the tail lights to the pig tail to take it to a local RV shop as I was not able to get the turn signals to work. It appears that the trailer is wired for a "flat connector" and the RV has a seven blade connection. BTW, we have less rabbits currently as DW and I have used our wild cat trap to round up several of the "wabbits" over the past two weeks.

Sort of playing catch up with this single post. Got a new Vista in late July. Shot some pics of the mods and upgrades done since we got it. Here's a link to the pics. Clicky Can't get your clicky to work!

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Spent yesterday getting the RV, car hauler and Mustang ready for a short distance trip this morning. Going to a Antique/Classic car show in Beatty, NV just over a hundred miles north west of here.

RE: RV Cover Too Long-Options?

What better reason can you find for getting a a little bit longer MH? Now is the time. Actually....I have been lusting after a 37' Tiffin an acquaintance is selling locally.....i hear he is a motivated seller...but then I'd need a longer driveway. Oh, the agony of luxury. I gave up on covers before I gave any consideration for the RV. Had to keep my '65 Mustang under a cover for nearly a year while we house hunted. Had several areas where the cover damage had to be touched up and/or polished out. I think the Tiffin was the better of the answers, but definitely the more expensive. I had an '04 37DB which was the best overall quality unit I've owned, was really too long for our use and I did not care for the 8.1 Chevy power plant and Allison combo. Was looking for a thirty when I stumbled onto the Vista 26 P.

RE: Lil' small for fulltime?

Did anyone notice the door on the Left side of the vehicle? That doesn't look US style. I wonder if it has a king size bed in the back? "Suicide" door, No! Didn't notice until you mentioned it. Having owned a second generation '88 Toyota Dolphin as our first, I've always had an interest in the sub micro mini units. Wish they had interior pictures. Here's one thats about on par to the VW. Got a real nice power plant. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc231/mustang652/RVs/0000-MotorCycle.jpg

RE: A campground trend, or have I been oblivious?

We've been seeing that going on for years here in Las Vegas. Some of the really old parks were nearly all old travel trailers and RV's that looked like they hadn't been moved in years. Had a good show up of wreckers when the parks were closed for new construction. When construction collapsed here, a lot of parks vacated and then were slowly replaced by not only the snow birds, but people bailing out of there homes and defaulting loans and were moving to the local parks. In 'Apr '09 DW and I sold our home and did fulltiming until we decided where we wanted to live. Several of our neighbors in the park had lost their homes and even saw several high end RV repossessions in the several weeks we were there.

RE: Workhorse vs. f-53

Your getting partially quoted again! The problem with either motor is not power, torque or speed. The PROBLEM is STOPPING the thing. I've had two of the V-10 Fords, an '02 Coachman 316KS Class C and now an '11 Winnebago Vista 26P and one of the 8.1 Workhorse in an '04 Tiffin Allegro Bay 37DB in between the two Fords. (all bought used) I prefer the V-10 and with the newer style tranny in the '11 that has the tow/haul setting, I'll keep it over the Allison. Got the best gas milage on the '02. "04 and '11 is about the same, "pmg", thats poor miles per gallon. "Stopping the thing". Starting with the Tiffin, I have found that I have less braking problems. I changed life styles from an in a hurry worker returning to the job after a vacation or weekend to a guy with six Saturdays followed by one Sunday. I've quit being in a hurry. I drive most of the time between 55 to 60 DW's prone to do 50 to 55 and a little slower when we are towing. I keep an eye out for pull outs to allow those in a hurry to get get around. RVing seems to be so much better at a slower pace.

RE: Does the DW drive?

Short trips, I drive, long trips we share the driving. Two summers ago I came down with some serious health issues while down in east Texas, so she had to drive the entire return trip.

RE: Smart car towing its own trailer. .

Who makes that trailer? I do like the idea of a the smaller trailer much more than my dolly when towing the Focus or the car hauler when taking the '65 Mustang to an out of town car show. At least you can back your RV with that, where there is no way to do that with a dolly.

RE: Rear Tire Blow-out

Have had two blow outs over the years, both on our first unit which was a Toyota Dolphin. Replaced whole set each time. Both times I threw the tread, neither showed a problem before hand and each time I had less than 10k miles and four years on the set. After the second blow out, the local Bridgestone dealer spotted damage on another tire, he called the tech reps and it was discovered that I had gotten the unit new with to small a ply rating. They charged me $25 per tire to upgrade to an 8 ply which was actually for the charge for new warranty.
