RE: 2013 Zinger ZT33BH First Impressions

We almost went with this over the Eagle we ended up ordering and taking delivery of. It was a close battle but a few factors swayed us. Glad to hear the Crossroads is meeting your needs. I missed this originally. What swayed you in Jayco's direction? I've never been a fan of their products, and I think it's purely psychological. Seems like everyone has a Jayco up here, and I wanted to be different. A few minor but important items for us - the water heater blocks out front storage, the slide outs didn't have sufficient frame blocking for awning toppers, and the island has the sink - that's our buffet area when entertaining! We would have had no issues with the Zinger if the Eagle wasn't the same price with a longer warranty. Sounds like you all are enjoying yours! Have fun!

RE: sportsmen classic underbelly

On my Jayco, they used grey expansion foam to seal inlets and outlets thru the Darco, but I also have the enclosed underbelly. Maybe black colored Eternabond would work?

RE: sportsmen classic underbelly

That would be the water proof Darco wrap keeping the fiberglass held in place. It is wrapped on the edge and attached, will be very difficult to remove and reseal. On certain models and brands they have an additional enclosed layer between the frame rails. Sorry I don't have any good advice on this one.

RE: Does your insect repellant work?

Eastern Equine Encephalitis is a very real threat in our area - the CDC and State recommend Deet be used to combat the infectious disease in children and those with compromised immune systems. Sorry but I'm not keeping my family locked in the house until August so Deet it is; I apply the "family" version which has 15% of Deet.

RE: Used Winnebago or New Sunseeker?

Another vote for the new Sunseeker - non luan walls, high gloss gel option, fiberglass roof, one piece fiberglass front cap option, very active owners forum with factory support posting, great coach for the price.

RE: $18k - What would you buy?

With that budget a good solid 1-2 year old camper should fit the bill. I'm partial to the slide but there are some nice floor plans without them. Should also help on the cost front as many ppl move to slides from non-slide units. Some suggestions are Jayco Jayflight, Forest River Signature Ultralight, Keystone Sprinter and Springdale, Palomino Puma, etc. While Arctic Fox is nice you'd need to find one several years old to meet your price point.

RE: Was I miss informed

Butyl tape under the fixture, Geocel Proflex around the edge. Silicone is great for the shower and your sink but that's about it.

RE: Lacrosse or Sprinter?

Between the two they are very similar in terms of build. We looked at the Sprinter and couldn't stomach the hand-hammered style hardware and chain-whipped cabinet finish (bad barn board look). For that reason alone we walked over to Jayco.

RE: 2012 Dutchman Voltage Review

From my perspective, the industry has a band-wagon that defends the semi-joke of a quality check done by the manufacturers. I can't believe the things I've seen in the RVs I've owned. Just good ole fashion half-attempts at construction. I'm still a happy camper, I fix most stuff myself, but most things are just disappointing examples of taking little to no pride in construction.

RE: Cougar Lite Furnace Upgrade

Not a bad deal versus trading it in already!! This is a common issue across many brands, they just half-butt the sealing of duct work, puncture the flex-ducts, leave excessive lengths of duct work, and so on. I've had similar issues with the AC ducts.

RE: Forest River Motorhomes RV One Superstores????

I am requesting a few basic pieces of trim from RVDirect and two weeks into ownership the other end (RVDirect) is completely silent. Guess I'll have to get Jayco involved directly, I got a great price so I knew I'd be going it alone on any major issues but never knew (in my case) a piece of trim would be so darn difficult to get from those clowns. Best of luck, if my experience is any indication I can't imagine having REAL issues like you.....

RE: Water Leak

Bring it to a shop with a pressurized leak checking system. This method will throw a red flag at multiple areas.

RE: Slide within a Slide Fifth Wheel

You couldn't give me a Shwintech within a Shwibtech slide out. After reading of numerous issues I would keep looking.

RE: Jayco, what does the dealer know that I don't know?

I wouldn't shy away from either, but its hard without a tangible bag of proof that a keystone fifth wheel is any better or worse then Jayco. I'd go with the floorplan you like, even if that requires an order. The Jayco does afford you a two year warranty. I've also found the structure in Jayco to be very sturdy compared to others, typically using plywood in place of OSB or laminated wood products.

RE: First Trip in New TT, Already Hit a Fence...ugh

I agree, very very very Lucy it didn't rip the tin. Should be a few hours repair at a decent dealer. The corner trim is an industry standard part and most dealers have it in stock.

RE: New Super C Motorhomes from Thor Motorcoach

I don't own one but saw it at a show, not my layout (have kids) but overall I thought it was well executed with some cool attention to details.

RE: Buying New Travel Trailer Jayco or Z-1 Crossroads??

Jayco for the warranty, both are great units - I really think the Zinger Z1 and Jayco are more alike then different.

RE: Picked up new trailer!

Nice! I checked out some online pics and floor plan design. What options did you get for the slides? Thanks! For kids room the lower dinette with upper bunk, main slide dream dinette and HAB sofa. Jayco also installed all linoleum as an unpublished option, same for the thermostat controlled Fantastic vent in the kids room and in bathroom. They also did slide toppers, not sure why those are unpublished!
