RE: Using air brake air nipple to fill bike tires

Great idea.... now I need to locate the tank or nipple on mine. I have air brakes and air suspension so should have some place to tie into it. _

RE: swap 5k lbs hitch to a 10k lbs hitch

Thank you for all the info... I guess I should have asked my questions differently and asked for people that had actually first hand knowledge of doing it. I understand this forum is full of safety police and that is a good thing but not always practical. I got caught up with the safety police when adding a third axle to my old toyhauler. In the end the manufacture said it was the absolute best thing to do and they actually did it for me. I found a local shop that only does hitch work. They said bring it by and they can easily determine what will work best and advise me from there. Thank you for all the thoughts and concerns. I am going to leave this project to the professionals and see what they can come up with. _

RE: Deep discount on 1 model year old TH?

We bought our toyhauler for $35k (2012) new but it had a msrp of $48k. We recently traded it in and they gave us $30k on trade. They turned around and listed it for sale the same day for $40k and it was sold that week. Who knows what they sold it for but I doubt it was much less than what we paid for it new. Sounds like pricing is all over the place on these. Guess it pays to shop around. _

swap 5k lbs hitch to a 10k lbs hitch

I could have sworn I checked our receiver hitch and it was a 10k lbs hitch before we bought it.... guess I am losing it with my age. Just realized the hitch we have is 5k lbs. What is involved in swapping it out for a 10k lbs hitch ?? Reason we went with a diesel pusher was to be able to tow a trailer with a Jeep on it. While it won't be 10k lbs it will probably be over 5k lbs. _

RE: Generator AC question

Ours was the breaker located on the top of the generator itself. The front AC would click but not actually start. Flipped the breaker back and never had another problem with it so far. Rear AC worked fine. Would appear each AC has it's own breaker. _

RE: Door Key to Winnebago

Ours didn't come with the key for the deadbolt so I took the lock/latch out and took it into the locksmith. Came back in an hour and he had two keys made and the lock lubed up for $32. _

RE: Road side assistance

I am in the same boat (RV!). I have had AAA Road Service for over 35 years and think highly of their service for my CAR. I am nervous about using them for my RV. So, I am going between Good Sam and Coach Net...comparing, etc. Any opinions and please say why?! Thanks! We are new to the RV and have AAA with the RV/motorcycle upgrade. Do I need to be worried about them not covering/helping with roadside service on our DP ?? -

Filling with fresh water

newbie question... when I used to fill the fresh water on the toyhauler it was with a hose shoved into an open port on the side. When it started overflowing it was full. The gauge/meter showing tank capacity was never that accurate. Our Class A requires we thread the hose onto the valve and then switch some valves to fill the tank. No way for the water to run back out the inlet hose hole like the toyhauler did. Am I stuck just watching the gauge/meter and shut it off when the meter shows full and hope it is accurate OR does the tank have some sort of an overflow that I can fill until it tops itself off ?? When we do out dry camping I want as much fresh water onboard as possible. _

RE: Best, cheap Insurance

State Farm for me at $600 a year. This is with a $100 deductible for Comprehensive and a $500 deductible for Collision. Obviously if I raise the deductibles I could probably get a lower rate. Have had a great history with State Farm stepping up to the plate and taking care of business when I needed them too. _

RE: Rubber Roof

Question while were on this topic I've never been on my room standing it doesn't have a ladder is it safe to stand on it? Also anyone use Oxi Clean for their roof I use it on the awning it works great. Eclipse/Attitude told me that if we do not have a ladder it was a good sign that we did NOT have a walk on roof. Our toyhauler did NOT have a ladder and was NOT a walk on roof. The roof was thinner and was NOT safe to walk on per the manufacture unless a person stays on the roof supports which could be seen on ours. _

RE: Macerator - The Accessory that should be standard

What's the best approach for a macerator electrical hook up? Hook it to the battery? Or run the wire to the fuse box? Etc? On my setup I ran wires straight from the battery to a quick push-to-connect at the frame rail near dump cap. Then had another quick push-to-connect on the macerator. Made it simple to plug in to use and simple to unplug and be done. The one I have has a fuse built into the on/off handle. This is the one I have : http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41BkfjUg6sL._SX385_.jpg height=400 width=600

RE: Attitude/Stellar 28***

Been looking at these models, from someone who has one of these models, what is the length of the Queen front bed ? It appears that there is more "walk around" space on these rigs compared to 2 others we looked at, just wondering if they went to an RV queen to get more space. Thanks Our queen bed took normal queen sheets and one of the points being made by the salesman was that it was NOT a RV Queen. Ours was a 2012 model. Also if you have questions about the Attitude/Stellar line I wouldn't hesitate to call the factory. Great people to talk to and were always super helpful when I contacted them (numerous times). _

Allison Transmission question

Can someone tell me what the "Mode" button is for on this panel ?? Is this for "Economy Mode" ?? http://www.nwrvsupply.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/allsion.jpg height=600 width=400 Been looking through the manuals I found inside the used Coachmen we bought and can't come up with an answer. _

RE: Coachmen Cross Country 354MBS owners ?

I own a 2005 coachman with a 300hp cummins engine . Be sure and let it idle for about 5 minutes before you shut it down, the turbocharger needs time to cool down. I had to replace the turbo on mine $3500 I was lucky it was covered under warrant. I purchased a battery fill system from camping world to fill the batteries with water. I purchased mine as a repo with 8500miles. I now have 23000 miles with no other problems.Good Luck , we love ours. when buying ours it had a check engine light. hadr to delay pickup by a day while the dealership paid to have freightliner install a new turbo. glad it was on their dime and done prior to us taking delivery. no gotta figure out that step not working.... and ideas ? i know we have a switch to stop the step from retracting but not sure what is causing it from extending.

RE: Coachmen Cross Country 354MBS owners ?

got another question.... just went out to put the manuals back inside and the eletric step didnt open when i opened the door. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work with no luck.... -I've opened and closed the door multiple times. -started the engine, opened and closed door. -started the generator, opened and closed door. -flipped the electric step switch a few times during each of the above -even bumped it with my foot and gave it a gentle pull with no luck the step light comes on when the door opens so it is sensing the door open but the step isnt moving. any suggestions ?

spare tire / flat tire - how's it work ?

just bought a used DP and when I asked where the spare tire is I was told these do not come with one. The sales guy said most people just call roadside assistance and let them deal with it. I already have AAA RV/motorcycle coverage (may switch to Good Sam now with the RV) so I should be able to get someone to come out but what should I expect when they get there ? Do they just tow it in where it can be fixed or can they swap out or fix tires right there on the side of the road ? Do I need to carry a tire (off rim) with me ? Everything I've owned in the past has had at least one or more spare tires. Any info for a newbie RV owner would be great. _

RE: Coachmen Cross Country 354MBS owners ?

We went ahead and traded for a 2007 Cross Country 354MBS. Our radio has a switch on the dash that is needed to power it on. Seems odd that it would not work with just the key on. It is an after market radio. On yours, do you need the radio switch on to power the radio even with the key on ? Our back up camera has a second channel. Do you know if it can be wires for a split screen to have two side viewing cameras ? Any suggestions on things to upgrade or change ? It has a flat panel tv in the front but other than that I can't pick out any other upgrades/changes. Thank you.

RE: Lighter 5th Wheel TH?

Attitude 28AKL is a light weight 5th wheel toyhauler. _ YUP, thats what I am looking for, just can't find one in stock. Mine might be in stock at a local dealer tomorrow if my deal goes through. No problems on mine, just sold my Samurai that I hauled in it and picked up a Jeep LJ. The Jeep won't fit inside so trading for a motorhome to tow an open car hauler/trailer. _

RE: looking for a light weight toad

Here is an example on craigslist for $3500. I don't know anything about this rig but just found it for sale on a quick search. According to online a Samurai weighs in at close to 2000lbs in stock form. http://images.craigslist.org/3La3M53I75N75K65H1d4lb9eb31cd95191eae.jpg height=400 width=600 Mine was light enough and small enough I put it inside our toyhauler. _
