RE: SNAG....**UPDATE***seller wants deposit to his account...

bumpus4. All that is fine and well, if the bank with the title is local and the MH is close to the Bank, But I have found that some or most are in different states, sometime 1000 of miles apart, and another thing now is in some states the title is in electronic form and have never been printed, And the bank(with the lein) will not release the title until the balance has been paid in full, So short story some one has to do some creative dealing., and it is hard to find an attorney that wants to take the time to deal with out of state banks and MH sellers. I went thro the same process as Snowfether;, and I know how stressful it can be especially when dealing with mega bucks: I passed up a really good deal because the bank would not release the title until payoff and then it had to go to the seller for signature., all this would take about 2weeks, and the bank would not budge from that policy...WACHOVIA...They did not want the MH and yet stopped the sale because of thier policy.... I'm really glad for snowfether that everything worked out well,,Many Happy Travel to you>>>Marvin

RE: CLASS A MH Drivers in NC

Yes that is correct, 26001 and you have to have Class B and there are 2 levels for the weight of the toad., I have the one that covers up to 10,000 for toad or trailer., you do not have to have a medical certificate with this license., anything higher you have to have a medical certificate from a doctor. You also have to have an air brake endorcement if the the MH has air brakes., 25 questions on air brake test., 50 questions on class B test, and the road test is about 30/40min with pre-inspection and questions about different things before the road test...PS: The Class B is valid for 5yrs. also..

RE: SNAG....**UPDATE***seller wants deposit to his account...

One thing that I don't get is everyone is protecting the buyer, but what about the seller?, Remember that he has to sign the title over, what relief does he have if the check bounces or the funds do not show up?, he has already given up ownership. I would do like others have said, try the bank meeting and have the title and exchange monies at the bank or even at an attorney's office., might be worth the fees to pay an attorney, that is what I did and the charge was $150.00, but in my case the bank that had the title was out of town and they had to mail it, so deposit was left with attorney... But remember both parties are at jepedry and the owner has the most to loose., when he signs the title without cash in the bank..JMHO

RE: new orleans

If you want to save some bucks and a nice place also, try this: http://www.stateparks.com/bayou_segnette.html Being a La. State Park they also accept Fed Golden Age pass or what ever it is called now. That will knock off some more bucks. Search the forum for more info on the park. We always use it when in the N.O. area. Second the Bayou Segnette SP, I think it was 9.00 a nite with senior pass.Paved Parking Pads, but no sewer, do have dump station, you can also park the toad at Algiers and ride the Free Ferry across the river, park all day for 5 bucks., or at least you could last December.

RE: Medicare Part D?

Last year I received some good info about the coverage plans here, first hand, I do not take much, a couple of generics but DW has a basket full, so I pay more than the drugs cost and she goes into the gap about july. so it is kinda a double whammy. Our plan(just got the renewal notice) went up over 10.00per mo. and then they added 100.00deductable. Thanks for the info, I will check out Medicare site also...

Medicare Part D?

It about time to think about the Part D thing again.. Just wanting to know has anyone checked out the rates yet? We have Advanta RX (Coventry) and just received the notice to renew and seems the rate has gone up about 10.00 per mo and they have added a deductable also(100.00). Looking for a cheaper rate? would like to hear from someone that does not use too many drugs etc. Marvin

RE: PTO and Vickers Hydraulic Pump trouble

Grant, Over on the Country Coach Forum (Yahoo)there have been quiet a bit of info on the PTO(Chelsea-Parker) failure. Most cases the PTO is the only part that is effected, From what I have learned there the Wet Kit which is installed, the old way was with greese, and the shaft replacement cost around 12 to 14 hundred dollars, if the shaft did not need replacing the cost was only about 1/2 that.. It may pay to check some place else, someone that does Hyd work only.. JMO, Marvin

RE: Dish network ??

hotrod, I probably should have been a little plainer, when working off the dome satellite, everything is Black and White, when I raise the local antenna, it works fine, in color... Thanks to everyone who posted, I too think it is in the TV, I went thro the menu searching but maybe I did not check far enough, I will go back thro that again. Thanks again Marvin

Dish network ??

I just installed a receiver in the MH and my TV picture is in Black and White, I had it hooked up in the house and it worked fine there, now when I put up the antenna everything is fine, color picture., what is wrong? I have a 311 receiver and a sharp (aquos) tv, I think that is how you spell it. I have not called dish as I think it is something else, and I have the Trac-star dome sat. Thanks for any help, Marvin

RE: Tow Car Partially Unhooked

I had an unnerving moment when we arrived at a campgroung today. When I parked to register I noticed my the horizontal steel bar that mounts on the car's tow brackets had come loose on one side. The tow bar is a Roadmaster Falcon. The bar that came loose is the one that the tow bar hooks into. It's a thick, round steel bar and it was bent 90 degrees. The back of the motorhome had minor damage. I have no idea how it came loose or how long I towed in that condition. I need to find a replacement before we can tow. You may be able to straighten out that bar, if you could find a machine shop, if it like mine it is only 1" round stock, would not be hard to straighten....JMO

RE: Fueling up

And have you noticed that on some of the stations the green pump is all the way to the other side where it is the hardest to get in and out? I always thought that I was the only one that happened to..

RE: NC Class A License

A motor home is classed as a regular veh. You do not have a weight listed for the motor home. A class C is all you need. I'm afraid that you need to study the DMV rules and regulations; Class B: Required to operate: * A single motor vehicle that has a GVWR of at least 26,001 lbs. * A combination of motor vehicles that includes as part of the combination a towing unit that has a GVWR of at least 26,001 lbs and a towed unit that has a GVWR of less than 10,001 lbs

RE: Who is your insurance carrier?

Go figure this: I just got a quote from AARP Hartford on the House, was a little over 1500, the agent whom we carry some of our insurance got a quote from Hartford direct it was just around 900 dollars..and I might add was higher values on total loss. Moral of story don't assume that AARP is going to save you money or do you any favors..JMO

RE: Annapolis or S MD Class B license holders read this

I just did that in NC, what I did was took the MH over to the Lot at about 11:30,my appointment was at 2 PM,. My wife picked me up and we had lunch and then she dropped me back off at the DMV, they never ask me any thing about how it got there., they are examiners not highway enforcment officers. I did not take the Tow Vehicle.. in NC it is not much to the Class B non commercial., just a short ride. Of course you have to decide how you are going to get the MH there, who has been driving it up till now? Good Luck.. Marvin

RE: Dish Network Local Stations

RayChez said:I really have not had any major problems with Dish, but I am going to change to Direct on the 16th of this month. They made me an offer I couldn't resist. I will save something like thirty dollars a month, I will get 200 plus channels, plus the local channels and three high definition DVR's. So I am going to give them a try and see what happens.Quote You may want to read more about your contract with Direct, If it is like what they wanted me to do, your monthly rate will change after the first 12mos and almost double...

RE: Roadmaster Base Plate For Honda CR-V

Quote "don't know if the blue ox system is any better...CAUTION when you order base plates thats ALL YOU GET.. the safety chain and spreader bar brackets are EXTRA...didn't realize this as i had bought the whole package as a unit for my chevy pickup towed....hardware comes with towbar not baseplates....good luck I agree, if a blueox would fit I would certainly use it and buy the adaptors for the roadmaster tow bar...

RE: Dish Network satellite TV.......how??

We just take our extra receiver from the house put it in the RV and every thing works no problem from dish about doing that, but the down side is no local channels when we get away from out zip code so no local news or weather but there is always the weather channel but no OU football when they play on the networks and that is painful:M You can call dish and have them change your locals to the area code that you are located. It only takes about 5min for them to switch, no charge...

RE: Where to go Labor Day in NC/VA??

Thanks for the ideas. We decided to try Tranter's Creek CG in little Washington. The good sites at Jordan Lake are taken. We love Willow Tree, but it's a little too far for a Holiday weekend. Went to Twin Lakes 3 weeks ago. Like High Rock CG in the Fall. Bethpage CG looks nice, a little to far to drive on a Holiday weekend, but will check it out out of season. Hope Tranter's Creek is a good choice. Thanks again, y'all. We have been to Tranter's Creek a few times it is an OK CG, right now they have construction on bridge out on the main road coming into the CG and the detour is (if I remember correctly) about 6mi further so if you travel back into the city you will have about a 10/12mi drive. We were last there in May but I don't think the bridge will be completed for about 6-10months...But this is not a real problem just thought I would let you know...Marvin
