RE: Monaco Warrenty Question

So your are saying that if something like an atwood water heater has a warrenty problem you would be able to get help directly from atwood. If it was something like the frame or body that monaco made before that date then the new monaco would not help you at all. Just gathering info. If a person gets a good deal and wants to take the chance in no problem popping up on what monoco made then it might work. If a problem does happen the repair would be my responsibility . After having such good luck with Tiffin repairing things well beyond the warrenty period has spoiled me. Thanks Ken

Monaco Warrenty Question

If a person buys a Monaco motorhome made before March 2009, The bankrupsy date I think, will there be no warrenty at all? I am going to look at an Executive and and trying to find if it was built before or after that date. Thanks Ken

RE: Wilson slick 4g antenna

Ok I fixed my problem. I bought an adapter made by wilson. It is a fme male to a sma male adapter. That screwed right into the coax from the antenna on my motorhome and right onto my sleek 4g. Thanks for the help. My antenna that was installed on my motorhome when it was new was a wilson antenna. I will not know for sure it will do everything I want till I travel with it for a few trips. My question is that since 2004 when these antennas were made have the cell phone companies( I use verison) started using new frequencies that this 2004 antenna may not be made for. I just don't know. Locating antenna

I have a 2004 phaeton. I need to get to the base of the antennas in the left front of the motorhome. I assume I get to it above and behind the surround sound and satellite reciever above the drivers seat. I may be putting a new cell phone antenna where one of the old antennas are . Thanks Ken

Wilson slick 4g antenna

I recently got a wilson sleek 4g cell phone device. I was starting to install the little magnetic antenna that came with this thing and noticed what looks like a cell phone antenna on my motorhome already. This is a 2004 Phaeton. I bought this Phaeton about 5 years ago. I did find the rg-58 coax cable that has wilson printed on the side of the cable. I would hook it up but this cable has some type of male conncetor on it instead of a little female connector that fits on the sleek 4g. I am wondering if anyone knows if wilson has adapters for this situation. I may go down to some local truck stops and check out the wilson display and see if they have anything locally. Ken

RE: Equalization Question

Don You are exactly right. I do it manually on the control panel inside. I knew it was several hours I had forgotten how many. I don't think I have ever let it go for a full 8 hours before stopping it. Ken

Equalization Question

I have a xantrex 458 converter/inverter. I use the equalization mode occasionally to supposedly keep my batteries happy and healthy. When I go into the equalization mode the converter bumps up the voltage into the 16 volt range for several hours. Do I need to disconnect all 12 volt devices to guard against damage? Has anyone ever burned something out by not turning off something? Thanks Ken

RE: All Dash gauges stopped working

I will check the ground if I can find where it is and how it attaches to the frame. Sounds like its time to call Freightliner for some guidance. Ken

All Dash gauges stopped working

I was camping for a couple of days and when I tried to start the motorhome none of the dash gauges would work and the indicator lights would not light up like they are suppose to. I found that after being stored for a cold wet winter that corosion had formed on some fuses that power the dash gauges. It was one of the 5 amp fuses that is on the floor under the forward drawers between the two front seats. While I was at it I took out every fuse in both fuse holders and found quite a bit of corosion ( dark discoloration) on several other fuses. I used deoxit spray and cleaned every fuse holder and installed a new ( shiny) fuse in every position. Now everything is working fine. With a motorhome it always seems to be something. Ken

Extending my wifi and my broadband.

I, many times, need an external antenna to extend my broadband coverage. In the past I was able to connect an outside antenna directly to my older cell phone. These new smart phones do not have those external antenna connections. What is available that will connect this phone to an external antenna and help me use the phone and verison broadband for internet connection when I am in those fringe areas? Also I need to be able to extend my wifi range on the computer, smart phone and television. What is availabe to extend this range when I am on the far end of the campground away from wifi connection that is way down at the office? Thanks Ken

Front cap insulation

I have my television out and notice there is absolutely no insulation up above the windshield across the top behind the front fiberglass cap. I am going to put some insulation up there behind the front cabinets and the television. Any suggestions on the type of insulation? I am planning on getting the pink fiberglass insulation and stuffing it up there. Any other suggestions? Ken

RE: Ham Radio enthusiasts

I am N4HWL in Murfreesboro Tennesee. I have been a han (ham) radio operator for 30 years and almost always put up some type of antenna when I am camping. Ken

Florida Winter Camping

I recently had someone recommend Clyde's Cottages in Florida. Their rates were reasonable and I was ready to reserve a month or so next year and I found out they would only allow dogs up to 25 lbs. That takes care of my plans because I have a 90 lb lazy 9 year old black lab. Oh well. Does anyone have any more ideas on where to go on down in Florida. This campground was in Zephyrhills Fl between Lakeland and Tampa. I would like to get as far down as I can because northern Fla can be rather chilly in the winter. I think their monthly rate was $175 plus electricity. Thanks Ken

New Front Television

I have a 2004 phaeton. My front television is the big old "heavy" type. I am thinking about taking this old tv out and putting up a new 32 inch led tv. I have talked to some of the people that work at tiffin in Red Bay and do that type of work after hours. Does anyone have any experience with having this done to a motorhome like mine? If so do you have any pictures? Also has anyone had this done by someone down at Red Bay? Thanks Ken

RE: Find an rv

Donn0128 I guess it has been a while since I searched for an RV. I really liked the search engine for rvs that was here before. If I want to search commercial places like camping world and lazy days I would just go to their web sites. I guess I will head to Google. Thanks for the help Ken

Find an rv

I know the Forum layout has changed during the last year but I need some help. I used to be able to get on rv.net and click on " Find an RV" and I would search RV sales from individuals from all over. Now when I do this I just go to Camping World RV sales sites. Am I doing something wrong? Can I search sales by individuals like I used to or only Camping World's listings? Thanks for the help. Ken

Cummins v8

I just heard from Tiffin that cummins will have a v8 available in a couple of years for motorhome use. Does anyone have information on this engine? I have always liked their 5.9 and then the 6.7. I also like an inline diesel better than an v8 configuration but the v8 will fit in smaller vehicles like the tiffin breeze. Ken

RE: Allegro Breeze

I though I heard that Navistar Maxxforce smaller engines were not having the problems that the larger semi truck engines were. I could easily be misinformed. Since Cat pulled out of the over the road (RV) market I have wondered if Detroit would start supplying some rv engines and give cummins a little competition. I may be wrong but am I correct in saying that if you buy a new motorhome with an 6.7 or larger diesel only cummins is available? Ken

RE: ? Better mileage with urea system?

My understanding was that some of the past epa emission standards caused the engine makers to turn down the timing and that reduced power and mileage. By using this new urea system I wondered if they could now increase the timing and recover some power and mileage lost due to epa requirements on the previous engines. From what some of you are saying this may be true. Thanks Ken

? Better mileage with urea system?

I am curious if the new cummins engines with the urea injection systems are getting better mileage than the previous non urea engines. I guess even if they are the increased cost of urea would somewhat take away from that advantage if it does actually get better mileage. What are you thought and observations? Thanks Ken
