RE: RV Insurance

Why don’t you look to get separate RV insurance for your RV? Shop around, get quotes from different companies. You might actually get a better deal elsewhere.

RE: Warning to all GMAC/Good Sam policy holders

Man, that sucks! Get in touch with the AARP for aarp RV insurance rates. We’ve been with them for about 15 years now and have had no trouble with their rates or service. We’ve had 1 claim in these years and they were absolutely professional and very efficient in all their dealings with us.

RE: Windshield cracks on Alaska trip

We have the AARP insurance for our RV. I’d been thinking about getting the full glass coverage (that pays the amount of a covered glass loss with no deductible) for a while and I think I’m going to go ahead with it after all.

RE: First try at tent camping, but with a twist....

UPDATE; I just bought a nice 1990 23' cabin cruiser with the trailer for $3K. It sleeps four adults, full bathroom, kitchen & is small enough to use in our usual lakes & take down the shore. Now that water camping is in the blood, we're all set.
Congrats for the purchase. It looks great. Enjoy your time.

RE: Good size kitchen with 3 slides - any suggestions?

Kitchen is something which will be used extensively. So its better you shop for it with patience. Prepare a detail description of your requirement and start looking for it.

RE: Do you have a towable trailer that you do not tow?

Seems like a good idea to me. If you hardly gonna move the rig why invest in truck. Can pay someone to tow the rig.

RE: personal liability Insurance

I was wondering about the same thing. I’ve been advised by a friend to take a look at the AARP online RV insurance rates. I think I’ll ask them about their umbrella policy to find out what it covers.

RE: Insurance claim experiences

Well, since you were driving it will be considered as a collision. I have The Hartford RV insurance and although I haven’t been a similar situation, my cousin faced the same problem with his insurance provider. There’s nothing you can do about it really.

RE: Trouble with Good Sam Insurance (GMAC)

I have the AARP RV insurance. I think it’s very important for you to ask your insurance provider about what it covers. I doubt your insurance will cover damage caused over a period of time. Good luck anyway!

RE: Rv insurance

I have to agree with Bob. I have the AARP RV insurance and I made it a point to ask all the questions before buying the insurance. We opted for comprehensive along with towing and labor.

RE: 2003 Dodge 2500 Hemi towing improvement advice

Increasing tire size reduces torque, which will affect towing directly.
Should follow what MitchF150 said in post above.

RE: 2008 F250 Crew Cab 8 Cylinder Capabilities

I think the 5.4L is one of the most underrated/underestimated medium V-8's out there. It loves to rev, max torque at 3750 and max HP around 5000 and if and when you manage to keep your foot out of it returns some pretty impressive mileage numbers.... but, even in a very nice 3/4 ton like you are looking at, 9800# of trailer is asking a lot of a 300 HP truck. I didn't see a reference to the rear end gear ratio. If it has 4:10's or better it will be doable but I don't think you would enjoy the ride. As always... opinions and YMMV. :C

RE: How many of us towing 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton truck?

Everybody keeps talking about pulling...going up hill or with a head wind. I said my buddy pulls with a half ton and does it ok.
The one thing nobody has talked about is stopping it when at speed. You need to think about your trucks brakes and there capability. To me that's the biggest issue with my family on board....Saftey!
That's why I use trailer brakes. no matter what truck you have. The brakes are only rated to stop the GVWR of the truck. NOT the trailer. A fully loaded so called ton truck, within it's tow rating. has the same problems stopping the trailer, as a fully loaded so called 1/2 ton, in it's tow rating.
+1 for trailer brakes. Loaded trailer effects braking of tow vehicle. Better to have trailer brakes, very useful on high speeds and slopes. Safety always comes first. :)
